Humor: the position most in need of an upgrade

QB transitions are hard to do. Montana to Young, Farve to Rodgers, Manning to Luck went well, but most teams end up in the wilderness. I'll be pulling for Garoppolo for sure.
Actually Manning was gone so he didn't mentor Luck who was thrown in as a rookie and Favre wasn't exactly hospitable to Rodgers ( " my job isn't to teach him" or something to that effect) and Montana to Young had their moments but you're right, it is difficult to follow a legend....Same for coaches....

^ Yeah, Peyton and Andrew did not work together.

I read somewhere recently that Brady assumes a "big brother" role with Jimmy G.

I think that's from a Jimmy G quote, as in "he works w/me like a big brother."

I think "ignoregate" is bull, but maybe the "big brother" thing is what Jimmy G's line is supposed to be in the Pats media playbook. Who knows.

I know that I like to think that Brady is mentoring him when the opportunities arise, and that he is the opposite of Favre re: Rodgers ("It's not my job to train my replacement.")

I like to think he remembers Drew not losing his **** when Tom jumped on him and yelled "I'm gonna take your job!"... and then did... and I like to think he remembers in the last minute of SB 36, when Drew said "F--- that (playing for overtime)... get out there and sling it!"

Whether it's Jimmy G or someone else... it would be a continuation of something that feels very Patriots-like to me, if Brady kicks butt until the moment comes, and teaches the kid everything he can in the meantime. I'd hate for him to think "it's not my job" like Favre... if you're not even the best option on your own team, being a b1tch about it won't help.

I actually felt bad for him..Brady wanted no part

JG was behind TB12, if he had seen him i'm sure he would have celebrated with him.

I'm just going to say what everyone is thinking

Those of you in this forum know the talk was rampant about trading Brady back in September and October

Well, the fact of the matter is, Brady's stock will never be higher than it is right now

With Garoppolo as good, if not better than Brady (if what I read here and elsewhere is true) then we really should trade Brady right NOW

Just think - we could probably get one, maybe even two first round draft picks for him! And with the cap savings we can extend Garoppolo and maybe even re-sign Revis!

What's not to like?

From what I have read, all the quarterbacks who have served as backups to Brady only have praise for the way that he handled the relationship. Hard to believe that this isn't so with JAG.

I would agree...

But I would also point out that this is a bit diff bc brady never got benched while suffering s blowout loss against for other backups...and rallies for his replacement were never this loud

First of all don't speak for me since you think everyone is thinking this. I think its safe for me to speak for the rest of the forum when I say nobody else is either.

Second, who said JG was better than Brady? Are you on drugs?

Even if JG was as good as TB (which I can safely assure you will never happen) why would you trade the most popular athlete in Boston Sports history who is not only playing at an elite level but could make NFL history in one year? Its not like we are in cap hell.

Also even if you wanted to use extra cap money for JG (which is silly) he is on his rookie deal. Why extend him now?

"What is not to like?" I dont know, how about your whole post for starters?

Gotta say though Jimmy is a kid with a lot of potential and I would really hope he is around whenever Brady leaves, hope we can keep him as long as possible.

He was benched in 2009 against New Orleans.

:D

"and everything was fine, we was smokin' cigarettes and all kinds of things"
