Tom Brady's arm ???

Turned off the moment he said Brady was in the bottom 10% of QB's in terms of arm strength, citing his poor deep throwing as evidence.

Brady's issue with deep throws is accuracy, not strength, and many underthrows this season were the result of throwing as he was being hit. Heck, most of his misses are overthrows. Manning has better accuracy on the deep pass but it's because he's throwing up floaters that he can put right where he wants to.

Brady throws a laser as good as anyone in the NFL.

The best basketball writer in the history of the city, Bob Ryan knows less about football than Tony Mazzarotti, and Mas knows NOTHING! Why guys like Shaughnessy and Ryan opt to do analysis on Football surprises me. Why Comcast and NESN ask them to to do football commentary surprises me even more......and that's why I no longer listen to their shows when Borges, Shaughnessy, and Ryan talking football are on

Tom has really worked on his touch in recent years, for example, developing a decent back shoulder throw. He'll never be the most natural thrower of the deep ball or fade, but he is not as bad as he once was. Like others have said, that has nothing at all to do with arm strength. Ask Earl Thomas whether Brady's arm strength is any good after the TD's to LaFell and Amendola whistled past his earhole.

Being a great deep ball thrower and having arm strength aren't always related.

Oh, its Bob Ryan? Never mind. No need to try and infuse logic into this.

Look what Wilson was doing in the Superbowl. He was throwing jump ball bombs to a WR who stands at what? 6'3? You can't do that with an Edelman or an Amendola.

Give us a Calvin Johnson and Brady's deep ball would be fine.

Deep balls are a two man show.

drew Bledsoe was one of the best a ever seen at throwing the deep ball and Michael Bishop had a better arm then him throwing a football far does not make you a good QB

I think if you just take that "bottom 10%" comment out, everything else he said is largely correct.

Brady doesn't have bottom 10% armstrength.

The Problem is we don't have deep threats. They rarely get open deep, and they can't track the ball. Deep routes aren't like short timing routes. When the QB releases the ball the receiver is 20 yards from where the ball will land. Taking the right angle to that landing spot is a skill deep threats have. Whether the ball lands on one shoulder or the other is completely up to the receiver.

Short, tall, fast, slow or anything else, the common denominator for deep players is that ability to track and get under the ball. There's probably 100 guys in the NFL with nearly identical size and speed to Mike Wallace, Cobb, Nelson, D. Jackson, etc., it's not athleticism that sets them apart except for a few freaks like C. Johnson.

The only guy who could possibly make catches like Wilson's receivers had in that game is Gronk.

In fact, the words Bob Ryan are no longer to be used on this site. From now on that will be replaced with this image

Larry Fitzgerald would be a dream

Give Brady some wide receivers who can get to the deep ball then you would see Brady throw deep more. And whenever Brady's arm strength does get weaker he will still tear up defenses and end up in the super bowl.
