So why did Denver get thumped so bad in 2013?

Dude i am not trolling. That first pick was just a terrible throw. Anyway i am just happy he was able to redeem himself.

Doesn't sound like he did in your eyes because you're still crying even though he played a huge part in our 4th Lombardi.

But you're probably not happy about our 4th Lombardi, Jet fan/Bronco fan/Manning fan.

You people think you're hard to spot lol

Denver lost to an All-time great team last year. Yes, they got embarrassed, but they were clearly overmatched. Their D had about 7 extra pieces over this years team, plus all the guys playing hurt in the secondary.

I am not one to make excuses for Peyton, but the team Tom beat wasnt on the same level.

Broncos players revealing they were scared to come into Foxboro to play the Pats says everything about both the Broncos team and the Broncos fans. Many of their fans were also scared to play the Pats in Foxboro and were hoping for the #1 seed.

When the Broncos are down by 1 score their fans start booing. The Pats were down by 14 twice against the Ravens and we still supported. Did the Broncos fans ever do a Manning Chant? Pats fans did a Brady chant a few times this season.....including in the Super Bowl a couple times.

Does Manning do whatever it takes to win? During the game against the Colts in the AFC Divisional, Manning had a long empty field to run and get a first down EASILY. He chose to throw and it was incomplete. Brady has run for first downs and TDs to try and win the game. The Pats and the Pats fans have done whatever it took to win games.

When the going gets tough, the Pats keep on going. The Broncos give up easily and run away.

Brady got intercepted twice and was down by 10 in the 4th quarter. He didn't give up and neither did the rest of the Patriots. Manning, the Broncos, and their fans were defeated the first offensive play of their Super Bowl.

The Broncos team is soft. The Broncos QB is soft. The Broncos organization is soft. The Broncos fans are soft. Demoralize them early and you have them.

Thank the Chiefs for that. Last year, Brady would do exactly the same thing.

One other issue that has not been brought up is the lengths to which the Patriots are willing to go to find a scheme to beat an opposing team. Many NFL teams just run their schemes and effectively dare their opponents to beat them. The Patriots look for the dragon's underbelly and figure out how to attack it.

Having found a bunch of players willing enough to buy into a system where they know that in any given week they may be marginalized because of the game plan's needs can't be overestimated. Neither is having the personnel that are able to execute in such a vast array of conditions.

I thought Denver was an `all time great offense`? Guess that was a bunch of media created nonsense.

Seattle didn't look like an "all time great team" last year until they beat the snot out of the favored Denver Broncos. After that, and not before, is when they became the 85' Bears.

Seattle was the #1 defense in the league this year. It was on a comparable level.

As Greg Bedard likes to say, if everything isn't going perfectly for Peyton Manning, he folds. He is soft and so was his team. That was much of the same team that was reportedly afraid to go into New England in the playoffs.

On top of that, the Seahawks showed (which the Pats gave the blue print this year) that if you take away the inside and force Manning to throw outside a lot, he sucks.
This. They're soft, totally outmanned in the coaching department, also, too: they're soft. And Peyton is particular is S.O.F.T.

2. Peyton Manning is a pocket sloth and doesn't do much in the way of footing and pocket adjustments.

Apologies for not making all the way through your post: the above doesn't jive with me. Let's give credit where due: Manning, gasp, for a season or two was *better* than Brady in the pocket. Brady, IMO, *definately* re-emphasized pocket technique the past year or two (sorry, too much beer to remember the timeframes) to correct increasing sloppiness, and re-assert himself back at the top.

I promise to read your whole post later. But, regardless: Seattle's defense last year against Denver looked Fast, Hard-Hitting, and Intimidating. Their performance coming into this game, as I admitted before, was my visual cue to tell me how the game might go. The Seahawks simply Did Not have last year's look... they were guarded, wary, tentative. Whether we ascribe that to some other change over the year, or their fear of Brady's adaptive intellectual superiority over Manning's, I can't say... but it was Visible, and told me within a few downs: the game was NOT a forgone conclusion!

I watched Seattle play regular season games last year, and post season games last year, and they didn't look like all time world beaters just overflowing with intensity, to that degree, until they played Denver, because Denver rolled over and died. It's easy to look like world beaters when the other team and quarterback don't fight back.

Seattle's reputation as a historic defense wasn't built on their 2013 season. It was built on the 2013 Superbowl… against Denver.

A challenging and forceful observation. I don't know enough to gainsay it.

Broncos were depleted in the secondary and Manning doesnt have the arm strength to get the ball to the receivers fast enough to make a move.

To those using the injury excuse for Denver - all of their injuries were on defense. However, their defense was atrocious even when healthy. It actually played better after they sustained all those injuries.

They were all offense last season and that unit was healthy.

You can cherry pick stats all day. Seattle's vaunted undefeatable secondary got beat 3 times last year, and 4 times this year. They're beatable when healthy. Their stats in 2014 are nearly identical to 2013, the biggest difference being that that offense got significantly better adding another 600 yards over last. Are we going to cherry pick that the defense gave up another 1.4ppg average and call that proof they were worse?

I can pick stats out to show that this Seattle team was BETTER than last year's team.

2014 had:
-More total yards on offense by a mile than 2013
-They went from the 4th best rushing team at 136ypg in 2013, to #1 this year with 172ypg
-Their defense gave up 20ypg less rushing.
-2013 Seahawks gave up more total yards, and rush yards on defense than the 2014 version.

So besides improving in most categories on offense and defense they just weren't as "good" as last year. Whatever, BS excuses sound like BS excuses. Last year's team wasn't an all time great, they were the same team that played this year, they just didn't meet an all time choker in the SB.

Denver didn't get beat down because no team can stop Seattle last year, teams stopped Seattle last year. They got beat because Manning always sucks in the playoffs.

I love this off season! :D
IF and IF Colts get busted it would be the best season of all time. A good consolation would be complete vindication for us, if that is possible. The Rice thing is gold if not for just what it does to Montana. If we can rope in Carter and make people aware of Aikman that is the quadfecta.

I think the biggest difference is that our receivers were more elusive than the Broncos' receivers. The Broncos went to a quick, short throw offense and completed a lot of passes but the Hawks made the tackle on first contact almost every single time.

For the Pats, the receivers were able to create more yardage after the catch and thus extend drives.
Great point.
the Pats had a total of 159 Yards after the Catch, including 135 from three receivers:
Vereen: 47 YAC
Edelman: 47
Amendola: 41
That's 159 of 320 total passing yards, almost exactly 50% of the gains.
