So why did Denver get thumped so bad in 2013?

Coaching was a big part of it. But the game was really lost on two plays:
1. The safety
2. Chancellor hit on DT

Denver had no chance after that, and they basically packed it in.

Packing it in after a safety on the first play of the game says a lot about the Broncos

But we already knew that. They were incredibly soft both mentally and physically. Probably even more so this season.

Not to make excuses for 2014 Seattle, but the entire secondary was hurt this year. The ticker on NFL network is just surgery announcements for Seattle players.

They played fine in the Superbowl. Kam didn't look like he lost a single step, and the announcers mentioned this more than once. If they weren't on the field it would have been one thing, but they were, and making big hits.

Yeah, they looked like they played all right. Would never have really guessed anyone was terribly hurt. I find it deeply amusing that before the Superbowl they were dismissive of their injuries and post-defeat, all we hear about is how they all need surgery. Whatever.

Not to mention the Broncos lost in one of the most embarrassing Superbowl beatdowns of all time.
To say the difference in contests between 2013 and 2014 was due to Elbow strains is laughable Bronco speak.

I am just happy that tb was able to get his stuff together. I am gonna be honest but I didnt love tommy's body language when our team was down 24-14. Also it seemed like brady was prone to interceptions this year. I am just happy he got the job doned when the team needed it the most.

Ya.

Sherman was thrown at once. Can't use him as an excuse
Thomas' legs and mind were 100%. n
Chancellor didn't look like a guy with a knee injury.

Flip side Hightower was in the same position Thomas was in, playing with one arm. That didn't stop him from throwing Okung to the side and making a game saving hit on Lynch. Stork wasn't 100% either.

Furthermore if we were to look at what Seattle fans were saying when they were up 24-14 I doubt they were saying anything about injuries.

Troll.

Cry me a river. We're missing an all pro LBer, and they're missing a nobody third CB. GTFO with those excuses. Two can play this game, if the Pats were healthy the Seahawks would have only scored 3. So we still win in hypothetical excuseville.

They got beat by a bunch of UDFA Wr's. ****, sorry next time we'll have to play with 8th graders to make it fair to them.

I like the attitude, but does Mayo really account for 21 points?

Lynch becomes that much less effective with Mayo on the field, and Wilson wasn't doing much of anything anyway.

Ridley also would of been more effective at gashing them than Blount was.

His body language? Guy looked no different down 24-14 then he did up 14-7.

When you say prone to interceptions you mean his 4th lowest total for a season in his career?

But ya run along troll.

First, Tom Brady > Peyton Manning. I only typed that because there are still some doubters. The BB/Fox difference is too vast to even bother explaining. Nobody in the world would dare even hint at suggesting they're in the same tier, not even Fox.

But as for the differences, a lot of it has to do with Seattle's defense from 2013 to 2014. Below is a quick comparison of some key stats between the two years:

Sacks: 43 to 36
INTs: 28 to 13
FF: 24 to 19
PPG: 14.4 to 15.9

The 2013 Seahawks had lots more depth as well. As the team matured and won a championship, some guys who had been bit players got better offers elsewhere. Here's a quick overview of key contributors who left the 2013 team on defense:

Clinton McDonald (5.5 sacks)
Chris Clemons (4.5 sacks)
Red Bryant (1.5 sacks, run stuffer)
Brandon Browner (starting corner)

The injuries in the secondary were already discussed as part of the Super Bowl coverage, but don't forget about a season-ending injury to Brandon Mebane, impacting the depth even further.

Again, this isn't to make excuses. Every team deals with injuries. But it's not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison.

He wasn't skipping while moving along the sidelines telling the team "One play at a time, guys. We've been in worse situations than this before."

Dude i am not trolling. That first pick was just a terrible throw. Anyway i am just happy he was able to redeem himself.

Hey, you could get together with some of the Belichick is a terrible GM posters and bemoan and ***** to each other how neither Belichick or Brady aren't perfect 100% of time.

Or you can do what us hated "homers" do and simply put these mistakes into some kind of context.

2014 stats for Tom Brady: 33 Touchdowns, 9 Interceptions.

I am sorry that you feel the need to focus on the 9 interceptions instead of the 33 touchdowns or the 2 interceptions instead of the 4 touchdowns against arguably the best defense the NFL has seen in over a decade.

A shame you can't enjoy the fact that Brady had one of the most decisive performances by any quarterback in Super Bowl history.
