Ya so far I think Patricia militia is the only decent thing put forth. Well that and the baby rapists of course.

If Tim Wright has a good season can him & Gronk be the Boston TE Party? :p

I like the obvious :

CHAMPS!

The Boston Stranglers

"pun. the humorous use of a word or phrase so as to emphasize or suggest its different meanings or applications, or the use of words that are alike or nearly alike in sound but different in meaning; a play on words. the word or phrase used in this way"

By this definition straight off a google search Steel Curtain is actually the least 'punny' of all three examples you provided because the Steel in Steelers and Steel Curtain mean the same thing.

I'm not trying to be a smart-arse, from my viewpoint they are all puns because they are a play on words/sayings.

Legion of Doom (DC comic villains) = Legion of Boom (NFL villains)
Orange Crush (soda) = Orange Crush (crush your opponent)

Then there's Gang Green, Greatest Show on Turf...All these nicknames are puns derived from existing sayings.
Not all plays on words are puns. These don't take a word and use its other meaning. If I said "The team has a bad defense because the coach loves offense but defense is secondary." Then I'm using the alternate meaning of the same word (secondary), or a word that sounds the same. Or the Sherman meme "thou shalt not pass." Pass has two meanings. LOB is just a metaphor, so is Steel Curtain. I guess Orange Crush is a pun even thouh the name for the soda is probably derived from crush's original meaning.

I'm not trying to be a smart-arse either. My point is sounding cool is more important than clever word play. If it doesn't sound cool, nobody will use it. LOB is a perfect example. Replacing doom with boom to sound similar. But neither term, and the entire phrase has nothing to do with football, Seattle, or the Seahawks. Players just aren't going to refer to themselves as The D party. It's a clever name, I like it, but it isn't going to catch on. The common denominator for nicknames people actually use is they sound intimidating, it's not that they are exceptionally clever, or have two meanings, or draw from history.

I'm thinking of the whole package and have always respected the Gadsden flag so here's what I propose:

Symbol: Coiled Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake
Nickname: Snakes or Rattlers or Rattlesnakes
Motto: Don't Tread on US

For reference, look up "Don't Tread On Me" on wikipedia.

Okay for all the ones involving Fortress and Foxboro, just call it "Fortress Foxboro." The shorter the better.

For all those awaiting off-season moves, let's assume the same character, or we can assign the nickname posthumously to the SB 49 run. Fair enough?

So moving right along, here's what I like so far:

Fortress Foxboro
Patricia's Militia

Hon. Mention:

Boston D Party (would have to apply to all 11 at any given time not just secondary... might be more appropriate anyway)

60 minutemen (would be whole team, but ditto the above)

New (I think) offerings... probably not as good as the above:

Islands in the Dream
Frustration Island
American Pickers
Musketballs to the Wall

This would never work:

No Super Bowl for You (even for a throwaway category, I can't bring myself to call them "The Super Nazis" and then have explain it.)

If Tim Wright has a good season can him & Gronk be the Boston TE Party? :p

It's not really fair, but given the Hernandez trial I'm thinking "too soon."

I like Mass destruction.

As has been alluded to, "D" is fairly common slang for ****. Boston D party would make a great name for a gay bar, or a male stripper show in Boston. And yes- everyone will think of that.

The No Fly Zone.

60LD.

Sixty Minutes Lock Down.

Mass Destruction as I proposed earlier just fits the region perfectly.
Boston D Party I love but might be to close to Boston TE Party.
Would love to go get Jordon Cameron to match with Gronk but that's not going to happen.

I'm referring to them as the Boston D Party from now on lol, thats perfect

Pats wall of oblivion
