Boom!!! In 3AM Saturday Morning Tweet Jerry Rice Falls on His Sword

The best thing about raking guys like Sticky Rice and Tapin' Aikman over the coals is if the campaign is effective enough, these guys will have no choice but to start defending the Patriots.

So many glass homes to break, I think we could really turn the legacy of Crygate around full circle.

Hey, at least Brunell hasn't criticized anyone yet for declaring bankruptcy and cheating investors out of their money.......so there's one guy who isn't a hypocrit yet.

Wayne Gretzky never cheated, Michael Jordan never cheated. Bill Russell never cheated, Babe Ruth never cheated, Lawrence Taylor never cheated, Tiger Woods never cheated, Mohamed Ali never cheated....

His ex wife disagrees.

Just to refresh our memories of one of the many things that Dallas Cowoys Coach Jimmy Johnson has publicly (and admirably) said on the matter of filming the sidelines.

--
Q: How about the spying thing Jimmy. You’re a coach does that bother you what Belichick did?

JJ: Oh please. I’ve said it on our show. Eighteen years ago a scout for the Chiefs told me what they did, and he said what you need to do is just take your camera and you go and zoom in on the signal caller and that way you can sync it up. The problem is that if they’re not on the press box side you can’t do it from the press box, you have to do it from the sideline. This was 18 years ago.

Q: You think the NFL came down too hard on them?

JJ: No, no, I said it on the show. He was wrong for doing it for the simple reason that the league knew this was going on not just in New England but around the league. And the league sent out the memorandum to all of the teams saying you cannot do this. And so that’s when Bill Belichick was wrong. After he got the memorandum saying don’t do it any more, he did it.

Q: Did you ever steal signals?

JJ: Oh in a heartbeat, yeah. Yes I did.

Q: Via video, Jimmy? Or no?

JJ: Oh yeah, I did it with video and so did a lot of other teams in the league. Just to make sure that you could study it and take your time, because you’re going to play the other team the second time around. But a lot of coaches did it, this was commonplace.

Q: But did you do it by taping the signal caller?

JJ: Yeah.

Q: Oh you did.

JJ: That’s what I’m saying. I was saying one of Marty Schottenheimer’s scouts, Mark Hatley, who has passed away now, Mark told me that’s how they did it, and Howard Mudd their offensive line coach with Kansas City, who now coaches for Tony Dungy, he was the best in the entire league at stealing signals.

Q: Where’d you put your guy who was videotaping? Where was he?

JJ: My guy was up with my camera crew in the press box. So you’d just put an extra camera up with your camera crew in the press box who zoomed in on the signal callers. That’s the best way to do it, but anyway you can’t always do that because the press box camera crew might be on the same side as the opposing team. If they’re on the same side as the opposing team that’s when you need to do it from the sideline.

It's amazing how LITTLE these "analysts" know about their sport yet feel the need to constantly bash the Patriots or "tarnish" their legacy for violating a camera placement rule that wasn't even on the books during the Pats 01-04 run. These clowns don't even deserve a receptionist's job (no offense to receptionists) nevermind making 6-7 figures to "analyze" the NFL... aka push their own biased, ignorant agendas to the uninformed, delusional masses.

Thankfully the Pats are SB champs, so all of this frustration I've felt for years feels a lot less annoying now - just a big FU to ALL of them.

I apologize ppl after doing my research about stickum! The NFL banned this in 1981. All players did it! #equalplayingfield

The guy admitted it was illegal in his original ESPN interview....now he said he said he did his "research" and only now finds out it was illegal?

Sorry Jerry, your tweet means nothing. The Pats were/are continually bashed since 2007 and no one gives a sh*t if "everyone else did it", just ask any Pats hater. It's an excuse that doesn't fly.

I think he said it because people are easy to forgive someone for admitting they did wrong. Just look at pro baseball players for this example.

There is so much hypocrisy going on it's sick but people will still try to discredit our Pats while turning a blind eye to everything else. #embracethehate

I maybe in the minority but I didnt see rice play until the last few yrs of his career and I think he is a bit overrated to be called the greatest FOOTBALL PLAYER of all time. I remember listening to Carl Banks when he won that so called award on NFLN that a lot of former giant players didnt think he was as great as people make him out to be and not everyone believes in that award .

You think Tom Bra5y has a nice ring to it?

Get it "Ring" hahahaha

To quote Forrest Gump "Sometimes there just aren't enough rocks."

I'm glad this POS didn't get away with his little comment. At least a lot of people outside New England have taken note of it.

Obvious ****storm is obvious

This is the perfect situation. Basically rice the greatest wr of all time admitted to cheating. Now everyone must vilify both patriots and rice, or none of them. No more selective accusations against the pats

I got a kick out of Reiss unloading on Rice. Reiss is mild-mannered, so it was a bit surprising to see him tee off on Rice.

Two things Montana was better at than Brady. Throwing to players with stickum on their hands, and pretending he didn't know it was happening.

Quarterbacks like their receivers broken in a certain way...
