Colts tampered with NE ball?

This would be the most awesome thing ever - short of what happened last Sunday. Unfortunately, it's probably impossible to prove without someone talking. However if Rapoport was correct that the ball Indy had was the only one significantly low and the others were "a tick or two" low, then it's not that tough to figure out.

You are seriously underestimating the amount of camera's at an nfl game and only a fraction of them are aimed at the players on the field.

I dont know if you guys heard Jonathan Kraft on WEEI today but when the hosts mentioned the theory about the Colts tampering with the balls. Kraft sarcastically replied 'no no lets not accuse anyone now'. It was clear sarcasm and then went on to say let's wait for the Wells report to come out. I found it very interesting that really didnt even deny it being a possibility.

I imagine that if the Colts did do this (we all know they did) and the NFL can find evidence of it, the penalty will be stiff. Trying to frame a team for cheating would be a massive scandal, not a little one.

Well, Gary Tanguay ain't buying it. He believes Mort's report and thinks the Pats totally did it.

I can't even imagine what the penalty would be. I would guess at least a #1 pick and permanent ban of anyone involved.

The other issue is how did the NE balls lose air but the Colts did not.

Agree. It would definitely be a scandal of the earth-shaking variety.

They didn't necessarily lose air. There is no record of the balls when they cleared inspection. Refs probably just gave them a quick eye and squeeze test, hence the fake scandal.

The fake scandal started with accusations that the Patriots tampered with balls after they were cleared for the field, which is turning out to be outright false.

I'm torn between receiving Indy's first rounder and having Grigson's balls lopped off.

That's kind of the point. If Rapoport's SB day report was correct that the ball Indy had was 2 PSI down and the others were "one or two ticks down", a 12.5 PSI down a tick or two would be about 12.3, easily explained by natural causes, and within a margin of error for being down. Maybe the Colts started at 13.0 or 13.5 or the prep was different. down .2 or so is a shrug. The ball(s) being down 2 PSI are somewhat trickier but if the only one down like that was the ball Indy had . . .

this is still all speculation

this is still all speculation

Everything about this entire "scandal" is speculation lol.

That being said, if this is true, and proof is found, the Colts would be handed down the harshest penalty in league history.

They want to talk about "cheating"? Framing your opponent to make it look like they were cheating is ten times worse.

Not only that but it makes you look absolutely pathetic. It's bad enough when a team regularly beats your ass. But to have sour grapes over it and try to tarnish that teams reputation over it? Wow.

LOL! gee, I don't know. What do you think, Walt Anderson? Stay comfy, son, Santa is right around the corner with your presents. Naive much? Holy ****...
