Garoppolo = One of the best draft picks EVER

The Pats won the Superbowl and only got a significant contribution for their first 4th round pick (Stork), and some contribution from their third 4th round pick (Fleming).

They got almost nothing from their first round pick (Easley), nothing (on game day) from their second round pick (Aladdin), (no third r0ound pick) , nothing from White (second 4th round pick) and the other picks didn't make the team!

Hopefully Easley (who showed some promise) is fully healed. Aladdin I don't think is going anywhere, plus if you are looking for a Pats style QB, both Hoyer and Mallet are FA, and both are way more accomplished than Aladdin. I liked what I saw in both Stork and Fleming.

The Pats have 5 of the top 100 picks in the upcoming draft (32, 64, 96, @98 (comp for Talib) and @ 100 (TB 4th). So hopefully they move up and come out with a Chandler Jones/Hightower type draft class!
Why not sign Cassell for $5M/year while we're at it? Aladdin at his salary, and with his potential is WAAAY more valuable than those other guys.

Without him playing the role of Russell Wilson in practice and burning the Pats secondary play after play, Butler would never have been ready for the real life version and to make the best int. in Pats history.

Bill knew this of course during the draft. He realized Seattle would return and that the Pats would beat Denver or anyone else in the AFC at full strength. Hence he nabbed Jimmy G.

Kudos Bill!!! Best coach and GM EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
Jimmy Garoppollo celebrated his Super Bowl title by setting up a Patsfans.com account and username.

I want a back up QB that is at least decent and knows the system (with an upside). We should keep JG for the next two years, the minimum of Brady's window. Besides we're not going to get anything for him. Finally, I can't do another year of Hoyer/Mallett trades. :)

If JG is any good he ain't goin no where for at least two years. To get a good backup for low dollars is gold.
If Bill O’Brien called and offered the #16 pick for Jimmy Garoppollo I think there would a police escort to Logan Airport to get him to Houston.

Yeah but that kind of emphasizes the point that teams arent going to give up a 1st round pick for Jimmy G, maybe they should but they arent.

A good back up is great to have incase something happens that would prevent Brady from playing for 2 or 3 games, but if a team offered us an impact player for him, or a good deal that can help us win, I'd happily wave goodbye.

Remember Nick Fales?

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: I am convinced that teams are talking to the Pats about Garoppolo (given the paucity of good QBs available this year), and that the Pats believe they're likely to get an offer they can't just reject out of hand.

BTW, I am not saying I am convinced that Garoppolo will be traded this offseason, merely that there's a non-zero chance of it.

I completely agree with you. I think Jimmy Garoppollo was drafted for value, not need, I think Belichick looks at QBs as investments, sometimes he can cash in on them, as was the case with Cassell, other times he will get some use out of them and recoup some value, as was the case with Mallett. If Garoppollo who was selected in #62 overall could return at top 20 pick in the following draft it would be a no brainer trade in my opinion and a great pick/investment by Belichick.

On NFL sounds clip, he's wanting to hug someone after the pick and runs up to Brady who wants no part of him a he is heading towards Josh..too funny

Brady's like "Scram. I'm trying to win a Superbowl. Go get me some gatorade or something."

Do you think Houston will wait a year and try to get Hackenberg?

Not sure. I think they have a chance to be a real good team if they can get a QB. I was surprised when O'Brien didn't take Garoppollo at #33 last draft. I would be shocked if that trade ever happen, I was just giving a "what if" scenario. I think Houston will resign Mallett and give him every chance to win the job. I have read the Jets have interest in Mallett as well.

They should be able to get #19 (Buffalo's pick) from Cleveland for Jimmy G. All Cleveland currently has on their roster is Connor Shaw, though they do have a worthless bum in rehab. Winston, who they wouldn't take for obvious reasons, and Mariota will be long gone by Cleveland's own pick #12. As usual, Cleveland is desperate for a QB and the Pats should take full advantage.
