The Pats defense is elite but the lack of pass rush of awful.

Jones is a good player but he is not a elite pass rusher.

Wilfork branch and silga are space eaters

Ninkovich is a good player but still he not a great pass rusher.

I know we got to get revis and Mccourty back by any means.

I like ayers he has some upside good player

but I feel the pats need to try to look in free agency towards getting a pass rusher and improving the D line overall.

Right now the only kind of Pass rush that they pats can getting is by sending the Blitz

The Patriots have a top 5 defense I would say.

But it is a shame at times how much time opposing QBS have in the pocket vs the Pats its crazy.

with a ok pass rush the patriots could have a the number 1 or a top 3 defense in the NFL

The pasts have the 14th ranked pass rush in the NFL right now.

What do yall think about this?

Ninkovich and Jones are solid pass rushers. Nothing elite, but good.

The beefy trio of 33 year old Vince, Siliga, and Branch didn't offer much of anything from an interior pass rush. Easley should help here next year.

Barring a trade up, I don't know if we'll find an upgrade to either Jones or Ninko. BB doesn't seem to want to use a 3 man rotation either (Ayers vanished when Jones returned and Ninko has the most snaps of any DL last season).

Hope Easley comes to play and draft a DT high again maybe?

You aren't likely to get elite pass rush at #32 (barring another injury gamble). My prediction is OL at that spot.

The Patriots pass rush is never going to look like the 07 Giants. Belichick simply is NOT going to play that kind of pin your ears back style, no matter how much the fans want him to. Adding elite pass rushers is never a bad thing, but all it will do for you is frustrate you because it will appear either they aren't living up to potential or they're being "wasted".

Patriots place emphasis on containment (esp in the case of run/option QBs, like in the AFCCG and SB). They also practice gap discipline and expect their DLs to "do their job" in that regard. Getting sacks is great for the individual player, but it's just a stat if you're not playing team football. In addition, today's QBs (like our very own TB) are releasing the ball within 2.3 seconds of the snap....not enough time to affect a sack, or to devote resources towards that end.

What do yall think about this?

I think that Belichick has never shared the infatuation with one-trick pony "marquee" edge-rushers that is the top of the fantasy football wish list for pundits on ESPN and fans in general. His history suggests that he considers them over-priced.

It is hard to argue with Belichick's results.

Vince is going to retire.

the Pats need to look at kendrick ellis from the jets or even dan Williams from the Cardinals.

We must sign a solid player when vince goes.

Wilfork is washed up he looked like his old self in the superbowl he played well but the old vince is gone

Isn't Jason Pierre Paul a free agent?

Restructure Mayo, then with Mayo out there you can send either Hightower or Collins to rush the passer. Both are pretty good at it, I really liked what I saw from Hightower. Imagine Mayo and Collins in coverage, with Jones and Hightower rushing and Easley also penetrating inside?

Wow, Vince is retiring? This is breaking news. Do you have a link or did he yell it from a duck boat?

Vince is going to retire he has nothing left to do plus he pass his prime the old vince is gone

So, that is just your opinion, right? You seem to state it as if it's a fact.

I really doubt it. I think he's a Pats lifer. He's one of those guys BB just adores, he works extremely hard and even when he's been hurt, he is out there coaching the young guys. He will restructure I think.

Finally, someone addressed the elephant in the room. I for one think the legit explanation for all those ridiculous catches and some no name receiver eating our lunch in the superbowls has more to do with our lack of pass rush than the corners fail to cover them. When you don't have a pass rush, the QB can sit back there in the packet and be very comfortable with his throws, thus making perfect decisions with perfect passes. DBs can only cover for so long, pass rush has to be good enough to rattle the QB at least, but the only sacks and hurries I saw on sunday was because of coverage, not pure pressure from the pass rush.

Why everyone telling that Big Vince will retire. this year was one of his best and after that injury, unbelivable, u d men Vince.
So why everyone thinks that he ll retire? If he has in his mind that he can play, he can easily play til 35-36. It is all bout motivation. I think he has 2 pro bowl seasons left in him for sure.
