What's the thinking on this guys potential? Played well for the most part especially the biggest game of the season. Even if he never does anything again I think we're all (most of us anyways) be more than happy but does he have real potential to he a big part of the future?

I think a lot of people were really high on butler as far back as preseason games when we started to see him play.

I know personally I like Butler a lot and can see him taking over for other CB's which under perform, I feel like Butler is a future starter on this team.

Moore and Butler are similar in the sense they have great instincts. Moore was one of my favorites when he was here but sadly he lacks even adequate NFL athleticism.

Despite that, he settled in the league as a decent #3/nickel CB for the Cowboys this year. He was an upgrade over Claiborne.

Butler held his own vs. Sanders, made plays vs. B. Marshall in garbage time, got torched by Mike Wallace, and had an unbelievable 2nd half in the SB. That's all we really have to go on him from his rookie year.

Butler is a better athlete than Moore. I'm not sure his ceiling but I think he'll be an NFL #3/#4 CB. It would be so cool if he progressed to the point to have a Revis/Butler duo for years to come :D.

I'm proudly the founder of the Malcolm Butler bandwagon back during the preseason :D

Funny how I remember thinking the same thing about Brady a few months after SB 36.

Don't think it'll quite turn out the same, but you never know.

Butler is legit. Gonna be a good 3 or 4 for us.

Moore also wasn't a one hit wonder, started for Cowboys this year, including in the playoffs.

To hear Dallas fans put it, 10 men on the field is an adequate replacement for Claiborne. :p

Moore was a one hit wonder here anyways. Glad to see him have some success back home in Texas.

I think he's got great instinct......as a UDFA, not surprised there might be some inconsistencies, but he's got the tools

I would lean towards no. Is he going to become an elite shutdown CB? Probably not. But he could become a very solid CB. I mean he got thrown into the SB and made plays in crunch time. He played that Kearse circus catch perfectly the ball just happened to bounce right in Kearse's lap. That would absolutely mentally kill most CB. Not Butler, two plays later he made one of the greatest plays in SB history.

Can't believe Moore actually stick around the league this long, and is still playing and starting games at that! Without the times in New England he sure would have been out of the league by now, instead he is craving out of a nice NFL career around the league.

Darius butler is having a nice career. I think if Malcolm gets cut, he's still gonna be able to find work elsewhere. Sometimes it's the fit.

At issue Butler, Dennard the forgotten man, Arrington, Ryan

I was and am bullish on Butler

WTF happened with Dennard? Just injury I hope.

Butler is better than Logan Ryan. On Inside the NFL they talked about how awful Ryan's technique was on the TD before the half. Didn't jam and never looked at the QB. All he really had to do was hold him and take the penalty.

Its only hist first year .....he has accomplished more than many CB we have drafted. I think he is going to be a solid CB...but he has the tools. ....his rise means Dennard might be traded or cut...

How bout we just enjoy one of the biggest plays in Boston Sports History and wait till training camp to discuss the guy's future?????
