theres no doubt in my mind they are bringing back Revis.

1. Belichick pays for ELITE talent which Revis is. this isnt the patriots balking at overpaying for wes welker or Talib. This is paying for the best Corner in the game, a guy who is likely going to the HOF. and Bill will pay for that. not to mention, bill has spent the last ten years or so trying to build his next "defense" and find the next Ty-law hard to see them letting him go now.

2. Revis seems to love it here and loved the experience. hes mentioned in the past he doesnt need to be the highest paid corner, just in the area of it. and mentioned in an interview with ESPN it would be "awesome to come back to this team and be a part of the legacy"

so, does 3 years 45million get it locked up? hes the 3rd most important player on the team this year IMO. Brady, Gronk, Revis

I say 3/45 gets it done. He is the 2nd most important piece on this team. Brady is n0.1 on offense and Revis is no.1 on defense, our D wouldn't be as exotic without Revis.

5 years for 90 million

See if anyone can match our roster bonus^^^^^

Could always add some backloaded years to the contract to inflate the numbers too. To give him a higher (appearing) $$ per year. But a basis of 3/45 should be more than reasonable, but they'll have to understand what the market might try to put in for him.

The big part of the equation is how Revis feels about money left on the table compare to the post-season. Fortunately, he's in a position to actually understand the feeling.

Pay him whatever it takes

Not sure why people think that Revis will agree to a phony backloaded contract when he just saw Mankins get traded.

3/42 is what I'm hoping gets it done.

Revis has to be thinking legacy at some point. If he's able to win one or two more championships with having an impact in them, he might go down as best corner of all time.
If he only stays at 1 championship, he goes down as 'top handful of corners'
If he leaves he also ends his career as a mercenary with no lasting fans.

Revis has loved getting paid, which I understand from his view he has a limited number of working years, the owners are billionaires, so he shouldn't feel ashamed to want as much as possible. But if the difference between best offer elsewhere and NE's offer is less than 2m/year, he'd be giving up a lot for money that will have zero lifestyle affect on him.

didn't like a clip I heard about revis talking about "his team" and what to do about next year. I thought he was talking about, you know, the patriots...but no, he was talking about his agents apparently. He seems like a humble guy, but certainly acts like a mercenary.

In all seriousness, Revis gives BB the ability to play the defenses he couldn't in 2005-2013 because he once again has an elite CB that can singlehandedly take away your top WR. Hopefully, Revis likes the idea of being a multiple SB winner and the rewards it brings you after football. I can't see him taking anything less than the 20 million he is already promised. It will be expensive, but much like divorces, Revis is expensive, but he (and them) are worth it!

4 years @ $45 million should do it.

Revis is off to Buffalo if that's what you're offering. He's got 20m coming if he does nothing. Say he calls our bluff. He gets 20m. Then would only need to make 3/25 when next year is over.

I think it's going to take 15m per year. And, he's worth it. 5/75. Maybe, 25m signing bonus and another 10m guaranteed. 5M this year and next year. Would make cap hits; 10, 10, 10+5, 15+5, 15+5

15 million is where all the top corners signed last year and the year before. The cap went up 10 million last year and is set to go up another 10 million this year. I expect an average of 16 million plus and a minimum of 4 years. 5/80 or 6/100 with some type of split bonus so he gets a bunch right now and there is a decision to be made after 3 years.

All that AND a bag of chips.

I think he is back. The Pats are probably the best situation for him and he will get paid. He had bad moments against the Ravens and the team picked him up. He gave up the TD to Baldwin (yeah, umpire was in the way) and the team picked him up. He doesn't have to be perfect on the Pats...at this stage of his career that may be a factor.

yeah, I would say if anything 3-45million or 4-60million$ and hes worth every penny. the cap is going up by something like 10-15million AND the pats are under the cap by 10-15million$

and Like I said, people point at the pats not wanting to pay certain players. but overall the players they dont want to pay are guys who end up falling off the cliff once bill pays them or werent really elite to begin with. Revis is elite. the pats will pay Revis

and I also cant see revis after winning a superbowl wanting to go to a team like buffalo where they will struggle to make the playoffs let alone a wildcard spot

Whatever it takes. In the case of an elite player, for the Pats that usually means a deal that is just a little under the max market price. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (Mankins, Welker, Vinatieri).

In this specific case, I think it will work; judging from his reaction on Sunday, another championship would mean a lot to him and cement his own legacy.

He's also a very smart guy who has kept his nose clean. "Revis Island" already is a Brand, thanks to his years in the media capital of the world. His association with the Patriots as SB champion has already increased his endorsement value; another ring would increase not only his endorsement value but his retirement value as well.

Buffalo is going to make a play for him and will pitch the opportunity to be part of a killer Defense with Mario Williams, coached by Rex, but their offense is going to be a work in progress for at least two more seasons and his endorsement value will not increase and could decline, despite what they might pay him.

The Jets are also going to make a play for him, but there were a lot of hard feelings when Woody turned his back on him last year and I also think he's too smart to go into an evolving situation in the **** show known as the Meadowlands. But it will be a temptation because of the market.

Sherman got 4 years for $57.4 million, with $40 mil guaranteed (that's $14.35 mil per year). Peterson got 5 years for $70 million, with $47.4 mil guaranteed (that's $14 mil per year).

I don't think we'd have to beat either of those annual averages to retain Revis, but probably need to be in that ballpark. I think something like 3 years for $40-42 million or 4 years for $54-56 million, with a substantial portion of that money guaranteed, is likely to get it done. Just eliminate a lot of the funny money.

It will take IMO, 4 year at $16 mil per year all quaranteed($48 mil). That is what I've been hearing. This would save $9 mil on next years cap. I think the Patriots should do it.

4 years 60 million, 25 guaranteed.
