...took that intercepted ball and let air out of it on the sideline to claim "cheaters" in the middle of a game in a desperate attempt to to throw NE off and save the season, which at this point actually seems a lot more realistic than an "elderly" guy in a pisser for 98 seconds with a bag of foot balls, a needle, and a pressure gauge.

Has there ever been anything like that before? What would the penalty be? It would have to be beyond epic I would think, loss of many draft picks, some lifetime bans?

Very, very unlikely (in my opinion).

The simplest scenario seems the likeliest; The balls were not tampered with between the pre-game inspection and the re-inspection later in the game.

Q: So why were the Patriots' balls found to be low?
A: Because, as has been demonstrated over and over again, balls will lose pressure when they are taken from a warm, dry environment and moved into a cool, wet environment.

Q: So why weren't the Colts' balls found to be low.
A: Perhaps they were found to be low. If not, then perhaps they were simply inflated higher than the Patriots' balls before the game.

Well now we're at the point where only one ball was ridiculously low, the one indy got their paws on.

Yes, but wouldn't the extra-low ball be the one most likely to raise a red flag among the Indy people? Don't get me wrong; I'd love for you to be right!

The Indy LB who intercepted it admitted he noticed nothing off, the refs who handle the ball more then anyone else in a game also didn't, but oddly enough it's Indy's GM, the guy who probably touches a football once a month, conveniently on the sideline and playing with the ball is the one who notices, that just doesn't add up for me.

But that's not what I was getting at anyway, I was kind of dreaming of the team crippling penalty that they would surely suffer and how record setting it could be if that's how this unfolds.

They would say that while pressure testing it they let a little air out.

If every ball is a few ticks to 1 psi low, what are the odds one is a full 2 psi low? It's an outlier. They probably let air out to make their case to the refs. Good luck proving it was intentional.

I wonder, did they think the refs were simply going to force Brady to play with a more inflated ball, and this would throw him off? In other words, was this just gamesmanship?

I haven't heard anybody talk about the time of possession and how that might affect the difference between our balls and the colts. I think we had almost 36 minutes iirc. All balls aren't exposed to the rain and cold as much as others. Some balls likely spend more time in a protected bag than others. How much does a bag insulate a ball from psi drop? Good luck, but the Colts having 1 ball that is not like the others smells fishy.

If this happens. The punishment has to be worse than spygate, bountygate whatever the hell gate combined. If the Colts framed us wowww.

Look I dont know Brady, Belichick or Kraft personally but regardless what the Wells investigation comes out and says. I will believe them. I dont think they'd come out and deny deny deny in that fashion if they were guilty.

I think the Colts tampered with that ball. It makes zero sense to me that the one ball they intercepted was significantly lower than all the ones. If they were all low okay maybe something happened but thats not the case only the Colts INT ball was. Why is that?

The one ball Indy happened to get their hands on just happened to be the ONE ball that was at 10 PSI while all the others were 12.3 and 12.4 or over what the league allows?

Please.

The Colts let air out of the ball and gave it to the NFL crying "cheater, cheater, cheater."

They're scum

Occam's Razor for the win!

I emailed Greg Doyel asking if he'll write another article now that the news coming out seems to basically state the Pats were set up and are completely innocent.

No response.

He is a coward
