Tim Hasselback :Peyton Manning still the greatest QB of all time.

Why is it (and this has been brought up before) that Marino was never considered the greatest and he had all the stats for a very long time?

The guys with the hardware always trumped him. But now Pizza boy, playoff choke artist has the stats and the Hardware guys are just secondary.

Peyton may have the most overrated and unimpressive SB win of all time. I mean - Rex Grossman?? Meanwhile he has been absolutely putrid in the playoffs most of his career.

BB was certainly correct when he proclaimed stats are for losers.

I was going to worry about what he thinks, then I remembered he's only the second best QB in the Hasselbeck family, which is like being the runner-up in a competition for prettiest Tuesday afternoon stripper.

I haven't read through all of these posts but if Tim Hasselbeck REALLY thinks Peyton is still better than he is REACHING to be relevant b/c I am not convinced that even he can say that.

If the Broncos won the SB last year the argument would have a little more weight was it would have been Manning 2 - Brady 3.

But given the Broncos didn't win AND now the Pats have again, it's Brady 4 - Manning 1 (NO CONTEST).

I know we say championships are everything, but Brady even has the regular season wins to back up his greatness (unlike a guy like Eli)

AND this specific championship further validates Brady's greatness. After all, Brady won championships in 2001 and 2014 in which all 52 other roster players were different.

Tim would rather have everyone talking about him in a negative way than not talking about him at all which is exactly what would happen if he does not make a looney statement like this.

Honestly, Peyton is a great qb but the media and the way he is willing to throw his teammates under the bus has caused me to lose some respect for him. Instead of just bashing Peyton, I am going to give a few reasons why I and so many others will never give him the props the media thinks he deserves.

1. I do not respect his only superbowl win. Any non-biased observer can tell you without the repeated aid of the refs, there is no way Manning comes back from a 21-6 deficit at half time against us in the afccg. Then to follow that horrendous game up with an easy outing against Rex Grossman. I'm just not impressed.

2. The guy that "changed the game" comes up as small as possible when his offense is supposedly generations ahead of everyone else. The 2013 Broncos rewrote the record books but lost 43-8 in the sb. I repeat 8 points by the otherworldly Peyton.

3. But, but, but what about Peyton in his prime. 2004, when he set at the time td record of 49 passes. Impressive, no really. Then this magical offense lost 20-3 to us in the divisional round. This great offense put up 3 points. Its starting to look like his best offenses do the opposite in the playoffs, but I forgot that the post season doesn't matter according to Tim.

4. 2005. After crying about how they lost last year, they got the rules changed. Thanks for that and the endless flags. So now this unstoppable offense(and refs) is definitely going all the way this time right. NOPE. One and Done.

5. Peyton actually lost the superbowl in 2009, but I am not going to give him any props for even making it there because no one wants to really give Brady props for his losing efforts against the Giants, twice.

6. Yes the Colts didn't always have the best defenses but they did have Freeney and Mathis screaming off the edge. And I don't want to hear about how poorly the Colts teams' depths were, because Peyton had a HUGE part in that. It seemed like it was his mission AT ALL TIMES to be the highest paid qb in the game. While Brady was and even now underpaid for the sake of the team.

7. Now, whose argument is better? Mine or Timmy's?

The funny thing is that even most Broncos fans don't believe Peyton is better anymore.

y'sDon't hate me but Hasslebeck has a half a point. It shouldn't ALL be about who has the hardware. A case could be made that Brady had done his job in both those games he lost. In each he led long drives in the 4th quarter to put his team ahead with under 3 minutes left. In other words he did what a great QB should do. when the pressure is at its highest and everything is on the line. QB's are often NOT the reason a team wins or loses the Superbowl, so assigning the so much of the credit or blame for wins and loses isn't really a good way to assess who is the better than another.

HOWEVER, while I think Superbowls shouldn't be a sole requisite of greatness, success in the playoffs should be. First of all, it give the rater a far great sample of how the QB plays in high pressure games against the best competition. And even THAT shouldn't be the only things you look at. But neither should be the regular season stats run up in an era where so much of the game has swung in favor of offenses. Dan Marino deserves extra credit for putting up those incredible numbers in an era where QB's were legally hammered well after they threw the ball and receivers we fair game all over the field right up until the ball was thrown

So should you penalize Manning for only one superbowl win (btw a game he was horrible in)? No, I don't think so. But can you penalize him for being 10-13 in the playoffs including 9 one and dones, I think you have to.

Hasselbeck's mistake is not putting enough importance on playoff success and numbers. That's when you playing against the toughest competition and true greatness comes to the surface. In that respect John Elway probably deserves a place in the discussion with Brady and Montana. However Manning can only be included IF you limit the discussion to the regular season, once you include the playoffs, Joe Flacco is at least his equal

Boooooooooooo

I think this will end this thread -> Who The Hell Is Tim Hasselbeck??.. Think that's a wrap on whoever this nobody idiot is! :)

Tim (H)Asselbeck

lol at this dude.
http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=12274534&s=espn

ESPN NFL analyst Tim Hasselbeck argues that winning championships (or lack thereof) doesn't define a QB, compares the legacy of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, and chooses which career he'd prefer between Manning and Brady.

He sounded like a hater from colts forum. I mean, really?

He's on an island, but not Revis island, because he wasn't good enough to play for very long.

so ASSelbeck's logic

he would rather have peyton's career than brady's

1. peyton does all the crazy 'omaha' crap presnap! and everyone copied it!
2. it's a team game! Flacco isn't better than marino because flacco won a SB! (flacco? really?)
3. playoff isn't everything! brady 'only' played season and half worth of playoffs. (eh, it's almost 2 full seasons)

wow, i've heard enough. lol

At this point, I think anyone stating that they would rather have Peyton's career than Brady's says negative things about them as a person. "I want recognition over success and actually accomplishing my goals!"

Of course super bowl wins shouldnt matter to this guy - he's never won anything. in the words of his hoodie-ness "Stats are for losers"

haters gonna hate

I think Kevin Costner should have asked Bo Callahan in Draft Day:

"Bo, whose career would you rather have, Peyton's or Tom's?"

And if Peyton is the answer then thanks for playing, good luck with your career cause we're looking for winners.

TB must have slept with Elizabeth. There is no logical explanation for his nonsensical viewpoint.

I really don't care. He is entitled to his opinion no matter how stupid it is.
