50 year New York Jets fan here to say congratulations

Forgive my trolling, but I want to congratulate you on winning the championship.

I must admit your victory on Sunday was a thing of beauty and I respect that.

I've watched the final 5 minutes of the game about 10 times now - from a pure football standpoint it was incredible - I think I finally get you guys.

You don't have that one player that does everything ( and im leaving TB out of this conversation)

You have no pro bowlers to speak of (5 - one is Brady and 2 are ST)

You have a lot of role players that contribute their own unique talent. It really took 53 guys to get the win Sunday.

You can run it 50 times or throw it 50 times to win - whatever it takes.

An un-drafted free agent rookie made the greatest play in the history of the Super Bowl - that was no accident.

When I first heard about deflategate I was happy to beleive you were gong to go down as chaeaters given your past.

But after hearing Bill be a stand-up guy telling his side of the story I belived him - and it was a non-issue to me.

I expected the media to jump all over you - they need sht like this to make as living -

But I was shocked to hear the comments of Brunell, Bettis and especially Troy about this incident'

I would think that they couuld pick up the phone and call TB and ask him like a man

About this before they flat-out call him a liar to the whole world - WOW -

Sometimes I wish they had some additional pro bowl players but that's the penalty they receive for being good every year. The Jets have some great talent on the d-line., I wish the Pats had some of that.

Wow! Bob. I know there are good Jet fans who can love their team without having to hate someone else's. I just never thought I'd see one with the stones to come here and do the right thing. Congratulations, and thank you for your kind remarks.

Take it from someone who thinks you have upgraded at HC, I look forward to the day where we as fans can compete and root for our respective teams on the merits of their abilities, instead of just carping on the bile and hatred based on almost 5 decades of frustration your fandom has had to endure. Personally I think you are going to have to get a new owner, but until that day Bowles seems like a good start.

Thank you. My best football buddy has been a Jets fan for 25+ years, watched the Super Bowl with him. I was going to bring over a deflated balloon for him. His wife gave me a deflated pink football to spike. Good times.

He gives me crap about Deflategate. I gave him crap about Woody Johnson's comments on Revis. Neither of us think they're big deals, but we get excited about losing/gaining draft picks with division rivals.

Three reactions:

One: I need to inquire as to your possible consumption of any pharmaceuticals that might have distorted or rewired your perception of events as a Jets' fan. Because...what you have written is reasonable and remarkable and, frankly, not consistent with how most Jets' fans see the world. One of my best buddies here in NYC is a Jets fan, but he is a rare exception.

Two: Your comments on Aikman are especially welcome. Brunell and Bettis are typical mediots now, but I always put Aikman in another category. He should have manned up and picked up the phone, especially since he was not calling the SB and did not have a conflict. I'd hate to think it was because he was jealous of Tom possibly graduating from the "Three SB Winning QB Club." Thank you.

Three: this board has always welcomed reasonable oppo posters. I hope that you will post more often during the regular season. we are big boys and girls and can take reasonable disagreement from knowledgeable fans on the other side of the ball. we don't brook a lot of ****, with six trips to SB in the last 14 years, but many of us are aware that there are different ways of looking at different issues and are willing to listen to politely stated alternative perspectives.

A very good post. I can't stand much Jets fans but it is nice to see some acknowledge just how great the franchise has been for a decade. So I can sympathize with the fact that being a Jets fan has not been easy for a long while. It was like that for the Pats fans at a time.

I don't wish you guys luck but appreciate the post and recognition instead of simply shouting, "CHEATS!".

Yeah, Bob, please don't venture into the Jets Suck thread. It won't do you any good, and that particular location in the space/time continuum may suffer some kind of horrific alteration if a Jets fan like you shows up. I don't think even our best physics profs could predict what might happen.
