Upon Further Review: End of Game Fight

I think Slater's basically seen that they threw the 1st punch & is gesturing to the refs to throw the flags (which they did).

well....because it's not that simple......nobody wishes injury, but would the pats have had the same success if lane hadn't got hurt or if avril hadn't gotten the concussion?

It's like the way Chancellor runs around hitting people......is his goal to hurt someone? he will say no, but if you watch the hits he gives, that message is not as obvious as he speaks it.

it's a rough game.....edelman's hit was unnecessary as lane was going out of bounds anyway......but that's how it's played.......intent to injure? if the degree of contact is not necessary, then none of them are as innocent as we would hope
unnecessary? Lane would have turned the corner..Great tackle by Jules.

If Lane doesn't try to brace himself with his arm fully extended like he did, he doesn't break it.

ok, maybe, but not really relevant to my original point....my original point was about the fight and the attitude that the offense brought to this game....to not only not be intimidated, but be the agressor....the gig is up on the legion of boom......they'll be good, but they will no longet be the intimidator they once were

UPDATE: I meant to reply to the person you replied to......

What was Slater doing? The whole O other than Brady is beefing and hes cheerleading. Lol

I know, he was jumping around like goofball. Looking back, you just have to laugh at that play.

That was odd.

Only think I can think of is (in my youth) watching your buddy who is a complete bad-ass just starts taking out people and while you step in and try to help, he really doesn't need you so you sit back and enjoy the carnage unfolding.

If you think about it, Slater is most effective when he gets a running start of 40-50 yards.......in close quarters, I think that's his only play

Slater was celebrating because the flag he saw thrown sealed the victory. Or rather, further solidified it. Bennet's idiotic encroachment sealed it by ensuring 0 risk of a safety being taken, but the unsportsman like was the icing on the cake and Slater knew it. He's one of the longest tenured Pats now, he's been chasing that ring for awhile too.

Game.
Over.

So much for Seattle's physicality, Bolden blocking gave Cliff Avril a concussion.
It was a physical game. Thats they way SEA plays.

After the 07 season, I do think the team lost a little of that chippy, beat-down physical style it had in the early 2000s. Some of it was due to the loss of key personnel, some of it an attempt to evolve.

This year they added physical players (see Browner, Chung, LaFell) and with Gronk healthy, gave them that physicality back, which IMO you need to win Super Bowls.

Brady actually talked about how they got Bennett to jump offside on NFL network after the game. They were doing silent count and they did two head bobs before the snap and this time they switched it up to three head bobs and it fooled Bennett. Great play by Brady!

Does anyone know if Bruce Irvin actually left the field? I know BB made the jets player do it just to take the piss out of them in 2013.

Something tells me this is the kind of crap that went on every day in the Gronk family basement, cuz Gronk is as good at scrumming as he is at football
As long as bats, knives, guns, crowbars, hatchets and axes aren't used, with your siblings you just sort it out.

Gronk has an interesting psychology. Got a crap beat out of him as a kid and fought for everything but because they were his brothers he could just flip that switch back to a regular, happy-go-lucky psyche.

On that football field, he is a wrecking machine. He is a bad man.

Here in Denver, everyone is yelling, "that's how a game ends between 2 classless teams!" My response has been, "Strange for Broncos fans to watch a team that doesn't like losing the Super Bowl."

Gronk's been in worse with his brothers, without pads. I have a lot of respect for the Seahawks.... They do the most important thing in football, play hard for 60 minutes. It's kinda shocking that it's so rare these days. To me, Sherman's attitude or the fight at the end of the game is trumped by that team's pure desire to win.

Michael Bennett should come to the pats.

legion of boom get smashed

Gronk said last night he just wanted to throw hay makers LOL

even better.......

Wendell, not Stork, just starts marching at Irvin, the Seahawk who started it, like a hockey player looking to settle a score. I like his toughness.

Slater #18 just starts hopping up and down like the kid in the hall when a fight breaks out in the boys bathroom at high school.

Solder #77 wants to get involved but doesn't know where to start. Brady takes a knee and stays the hell out of it.

Develin #46 gets in a nice shot on #72 Bennett as Gronk takes him to the ground. Develin should get a third man in penalty .

I think that was Wendell.....Stork kept his hand on Brady's shoulder.....Connolly stayed with Brady too.....protectin' to the end

what about the players that came from the seahawks bench? and the guy in yellow running in there in the end....what the hell is he thinking?

then there's vereen with hands up......

You're right - Wendell is #62. Even better. I was worried that the nastiness in the Patriots would be gone when mankins was traded. He is a real badass. I'll edit my post above.

Check out Develin back in the huddle as the fight breaks out. Checks with Stork that he's got Tom covered, then tells Tom "I gotta go, Tom, gotta get some of this", then he's off like a shot to lay waste to the guy Gronk had tied up.

Gronk, Develin and Slater are the stars of the show.
