Anyone else think Collinsworth was unbearable last night?

While on this subject, after rewatching the game, then NBC Nightly News, I've come to a realization:

NBC was clearly against the Pats.

Between Collinsworth and Michaels with the constant "legacy" questions, Michelle Tafoya goading Kraft post-game on DeflateGate, there's always NBC Nightly News to consider.

When DeflateGate broke, it was the LEAD STORY, two full nights in a row last week. Tonight, a day after the Super Bowl, the most-watched show in TV history, on their own network for heck sake, the story was the ABSOLUTE LAST presented, and it was strictly on Pete Carroll's decision. They only uttered the name "Patriots" once and never even spoke the title of "New England". To top this all off, the media idiot ended questioning the win with the impending "DefalteGate decision".

It's clear NBC was and is highly bias against the Pats. And to that, I say.....GOOD! WE ENJOY YOUR TEARS!

Every time I hear his name I think of the Week 2 2007 "Spygate" interview he did on NBC after the beatdown the Patriots put on the Chargers. He looked close to tears and in disbelief at what had just happened on the field, like he was convinced the only reason for the success was due to "spying" on opponents.

My lasting memory of him will always be from the 1986 MNF game Pats v Dolphins (December, final game of the year). If the Pats won, they were in the playoffs and the Bengals were out. MNF kept cutting to him and Boomer watching the game from Boomer's restaurant. To watch him go from ecstatic to utterly crushed as the Pats pulled out the win made the victory all the sweeter.

I turned them off right after the game, so I think I missed the worst. During the game itself the DFG stuff wasn't too bad. And they did call the roughing the kicker ref miss early on.

The producer probably tells them in their ear to mention things like deflategate, etc. In 07, Collinsworth said several times that the Pats were the best team in the history of the NFL. I don't think he's a hater, but it did seem like he bought into deflategate and seemed honestly disappointed. Now that more facts are coming out that the "scandal" was BS, I'm sure he'll back off. The NFL always tries to hype some sort of angle, and crowning RW the next greatest QB was one of those angles.

As @Weishuhn noted in post#31, I had the distinct impression that this was more direction from the show's producer (or network execs) than Collinsworth himself. The timing was so off, it was as if the producer was in his ear telling him 'bring up deflategate now'!

Remember a few weeks ago when Roger Goodell was in the stands at a game? When the camera went on the commissioner, Michaels said something that he was obviously reading off a piece of paper - and it didn't sound like it was anything he wrote. Collinsworth followed with a couple more sentences, and the tone of his voice was such that he sounded like he was going to barf before he finished reading his script.

I honestly feel that this all came from somebody else further up the food chain.

I think Chris Collinsworth has been a huge Brady and Pats homer for a long time. He's always supported us, defended us, promoted us as the gold standard of the NFL.

It's gonna' take more than a few deflated ball references to make me turn on him.

He said "I looked Tom right in the eye and asked him to tell me the truth on whether he knew anything about those balls being deflated, and he said no."

That's what I heard Collinsworth say.

They then went on to say that someone would have egg on their face when it was all finished, whether it be the Pats, the NFL, or the media. That isn't a lie, and it'll be the NFL & Media.

I don't really get the hate here.

I heard bits and pieces but for the most part I blocked them out, especially in the 4rth qtr, I went deaf and numb. They could'v been talking about barbie dolls for all I cared....

I normally enjoy Collinsworth - but he was AWFUL.. Just TERRIBLE.

He would bring up deflate-gate in the middle of Patriot drives TWICE. And 2 more times at random too.

He also condoned Sherman's classless act of showing "TWO - FOUR" to the camera, explained it was to reference Revis giving up the TD, all while laughing. Even Sanders and Irvin didn't like it.

After Butler's INT he couldn't stop talking about "I can't believe the playcall!" and barely gave any credit to Butler for the athletic play.
