Here are some hard truths.
You cut Wilfork
Ridley stays on a 1 yr prove it deal but my thought is he moves to a team with more playing time. New Orleans, Dallas,Arizona, Indiapolis to think of a few.
Vareen was critical catching the ball we need to keep him 3 million a year should do it.
Revis shouldnt be paid more than 12 million a year so I say we go a little higher 3 years 38 million.
Ninkovich does not have the burst required for the position he plays so a tough cut or a restructure in the 2.5 3 million a season range.
I love Mayo but the think this defense has evolved without him I agree you need many good linebackers but unless he's coming as low as 3.5 or 4 million he's a hard trade but Belichick makes the tough decisions.
Admendola needs to stay played lights out in the postseason. So I say he stays maybe with a slight restructure.
He's more valuable in our offense only places I could see valuing his play style would be Oakland, Indy, San Diego, Philadelphia.
Mccourty this is a tough one I say you offer between 6 and 7 million a season.
Would hate to lose him.
So I say this much alot of tough decisions I see business decisions in Nink, Wilfork, Mayo being pushed out and it sucks but there is a cap and this is a business.

Any update on the projected salary cap for the 2015 NFL Season?

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2015/01/29/nflpa-salary-cap-projection-2015/22559403/

Last year, for instance, the cap jumped from $123 million to a record $133 million – much higher than the league's original projections. The NFL management council informed teams last month the 2015 cap is expected to be $138.6 million to $141.8 million. The union disagrees and will issue its own projections before the NFL scouting combine begins Feb. 17, Smith said.

I think the ring will go a ways toward getting Revis done, but he's no dummy (same goes for the other re-sign concerns.) Of course as we've all known since Week 4, Tommy's done this year, so that'll be a load off :p

I see Amendola and Edelman as a team now ... pushing each other and working in unison with Brady.
In other words I think Amendola needs to be evaluated on more than just stats ...
Be nice to see Edelman - LaFell - Amendola - Gronk - Vareen - stick together for a few years.
That group together helps keep Brady on his feet with their precision ... something to be valued as Brady approaches 40.

Agree with IcyPatriot. Plus with a Good running game that's a potent offense. We just need Tyms or Dobson to step up I think and develop Wright more too.

Revis' 2015 cap no is 25 million.

My predictions:

I think Revis stays - it won't be 12 million a year. More like 14+.

McCourty stays, on a franchise tag f necessary.

Amendola might restructure, but not dramatically. Hope he stays, but wouldn't bet on it.

Wilfork, I fear, is gone. I love the guy and would like him to stay, but his cap hit is really big, and now that he's got the second ring, he might be thinking of retirement. Maybe they keep Alan Branch around (Branch, Siliga, Easley, Chris Jones and a draft pick?).

Mayo restructures and stays.

Connolly retires, or takes a pay cut.

Gost restructures or is gone.

Casillas stays. Ayers stays.

I don't see Browner, Arrington, Dennard, Ryan, Harmon or Butler going anywhere. We have 7 good DBs - in today's game, with the injury rate back there, you need them.

I expect OL and DT to be hit early int eh draft. After that, the Pats are in a position to go BPA, which is an amazing luxury for a Superbowl-winning team.

I'm no cap expert, but would love to hear what we would possibly have to sign other free agents? After securing our own, of course.

If Wilfork retires, I'd love to see Terrence Knighton signed. Yes, he's a big mouth, but he's a hell of a player.

I feel this draft is important we need o line, Defensive line, edge rushers, tight end more than anything, I say you trade down and get more bullets for the Gun unless you have a player rated significantly higher than the value of more picks.
I would even take less value to trade down for extra shots.
Would love to get my hands on Gordon and let BB and Brady help the kid out.
Might be the only way to get a top talent if we wish to secure our own.
I feel Gordon has a good chance to only miss half the season or less with a appeal.
It would be a investment and then you are showing Gordon you care to help him Cleveland is a cesspool BB knows that think the kid could do big things. If not him I like Cecil Shorts as low risk high reward.
I would like to take a shot at Stephen Hill would love to see what McDaniels could teach the kid.
I don't think that he is a lost cause and could do wonders with the right coaching.

I'm a Mayo fan but unless we're playing a lot of base next year, his cap hit is too big for someone who spends a lot of time on the bench because, let's face it, Hightower and Collins are the future. Having said that, three quality linebackers are better than two - I'm hoping for a renegotiation.

Edit: It should be noted that when Mayo was fit at the start of the year, we did have all three linebackers on the field a lot with Hightower playing SLB/OLB a lot more.

As your edit suggests, I really think the answer to this questions lies in our scheme. IMO the Nickle plan was to have ideally Nink-Easley-Jones-Hightower up front (obviously other variations as well) with Collins and Mayo as the 2 LB. there is just a ton of flexability and pass rush options there.

Personally, I don't think Mayo goes. Possibly a restructure (which i think is fair due to the 2 lost seasons).

If Mayo stays and is fit we will have a dominant LB Corps. Don't write off these athletes after injury. Rememberm all of the Wilfork doubters last year. Mayo was playing well before injury this year. he can do it again.

IMO Revis is the key to this off season. Do we keep him? If we sign him to 17m per then we free up $8m and give that to McCourty and then move accordingly from there.

Guys I'd look to sign?
If Vince goes: Dan Williams ARI, Terrence Knighton DEN
If Mayo Goes: Ayers/Cassillias PATS
If Connolly goes: Carpenter/draft
Amendola goes: Welker ( :) )

But i really think we try to take care of our own as much as possible then hit the draft.

For mine next year we have as much of this team as possible PLUS a hopefully healthy:
Dobson
Mayo
Easley

to add to the mix

If they cut Wilfork which I hope they don't. Think he has got another good year left in him. But if it does happen sign Brandon Mebane from the Seahawks as a replacement.

Should have shoved a contract in Revis's face after the game when he was in tears of joy with his teammates/family. Guy would have signed on for 3 squares a day in that moment.

Some of my thoughts:

5. Revis is not going anywhere, they will pay the $20M before they let him walk and then franchise him again in 2016 so it is essentially control of Revis for 2 seasons. Not to mention they take a $5M cap hit even if they cut him, Revis is not going anywhere I am almost certain of that.

I suppose we might as well start addressing Revis. The $5M 2014 bonus is totally irrelevant to anything. It will be assessed against the cap whether Revis is cut, signed or traded.

So, you are guaranteeing that the team will pay Revis $20M for his 2015 play and $25M in 2016? I can only say that your analysis is seriously flawed.

There's going to be some tough decisions to be made. For example, I'd love Brandon Browner to stay but he's due about 5.5 mil next year and can be cut before the league year at, I believe, no cost. I'm hoping he stays, but in addition to Revis and McCourty , that's a lot invested in the secondary.
No way. We finally win the SB with a great secondary. They need to keep this D intact as much as they can and try to improve it, not break it down. They really need to start thinking short term in the form of the next 2-3 years in regards to the salary cap and do whatever they can to keep Revis, Browner, and McCourty.

Yeah, ya got me on that. Ok, 3rd best.

OK.

We will have Arrington, Butler, Ryan and Dennard coming into camp. There is no reason to cut any of them. It is reasonable to come to Game 1 with six corners on the 53. It makes even more sense to come into camp with 6 solid corners.

Perhaps, Dennard will come back to camp a new player and beat out Arrington, Butler and Ryan for the #3 corner position and be our nickel for 2015. I just don't see that happening. Arrington did very well in certain game plans; Butler at other times. Ryan has been an OK dime back at times.
