I plan to go back and re-watch the game this week, but my impression was that the Patriots dominated through most of the game, although it was not reflected in the score. The Patriots were definitely the better team; the Seahawks fans should stop whining; they lost to the better team--justice was served. If not for interceptions and some long bombs by Wilson against poor coverage, it would have been a blowout.

It was a chess match out there, seesawing back and forth but BB eventually prevailed. The Patriots really controlled the first half, however the Seahawks made some adjustments at Halftime that took away the short passes. Momentum shifted to the Seahawks. However McDaniels figured it out on offense and the addition of Butler to the defensive backfield shut down the Seahawks passing game. By the end of the game the Patriots were dominating again. It was only the miracle catch that made it close.

I agree completely.

There was a fantastic game plan on both sides of the ball, and only critical mistakes kept it close and then allowed the Seahawks to take the lead.

If Brady didn't have the two terrible picks, and the awful drive by the defense to end the second this would have been a laugher by the fourth. The Patriots had complete control of the game, and it was entirely their fault that the game was even close.

If brady didn't have the first pick, Jeremy Lane won't be out of the game, and the plan changes all over again...

Like I said in the other thread, we outplayed them for 3 quarters and they outplayed us in the 3rd quarter. Lucky for them the major plays they made were enough to influence the outcome enough to keep it close despite us controlling a majority of the game. To their credit, they also did take full advanatage of their opportunities while we squandered one red zone opportunity and stupidly giftwrapped 7 points at the end of the 1st half.

It reminded me a lot of the game a few years back I went to in Seattle.

Pats played better overall, gave up a few big plays and a poor interception in scoring position bit us big.

We should have probably been up 17-7 at half, instead it's tied and they have a great 3rd quarter while our offense faltered with a few mistakes and all the sudden they are up 10. Fortunately we had the personnel to adjust and take away their big play. They pretty much went big play after big play in their final 2 minutes and got a few bites and then couldn't close.

Refs missed the running into the kicker penalty. Shoulve been first down.

Pats dominated Time of possession.

Brady marches down the field, then throws a bad INT.

Could've easily been 10-0 or 14-0 to start the game.

Brady moved the base with ease!

seattle rushed for 167 and led the give/take

do they really want to make russell wilson the highest paid QB in the NFL?

I promise you Jeremy Lane is not that big of a game changer. We would have worked him just as bad as we worked Tharold Simon.

I agree. The Pats were in control for most of that 2012 game but they let it get away.

I'm not in the habit of using the officials as an excuse, BUT they missed a couple of what should have been PI's against Gronk early on too.

I think Pats stop the Seahawks on the last drive even before the interception. If it wasn't for that fluke play, Seattle wouldn't be in position to score because I firmly believe we wouldve picked of Wilson in that drive either way

Seattle used the Ravens game plan, run and throw jump balls. They happened to hit a few jump balls if they didnt would have been a romp.

Is this Lane guy any good? People talk about him like he's Ronnie Lott.

I think the Pats were the better team and made more plays in the clutch but I wouldn't say they dominated the game.

I would say that the Seahawks made more clutch plays, but the Pats made many more overall good plays. In the end, the Pats needed the biggest play of all to overcome Seattle's big plays and win the game. That's not dominance. That's squeaking by, despite playing much better overall.

Thats a good point. SEA had 5-6 seismic game changing plays. Long passes. INTs, etc.

The Pats game was death by 1000 paper cuts and one kick in the nuts at the end. :)

I still think they dominated. Except for the third quarter, they had the initiative on both offense and defense. They went up and down the field on Seattle in the first half and their defense was in control most of the game except for some big plays.

The Patriots would have racked up a big score if not for some glaring lack of calls on the part of the refs such as the hits to Brady's head, the running in the kicker and the lack of PI calls. It was almost as if the refs wanted to keep the game close.

This game was very much like the Green Bay championship game. Seattle's offense played poorly and were revived by weird, flukish, and timely plays. In fact it seems that all their scores seem near the end of halves, games, or ovcr-times. And how is it that those long looping passes land so luckily or safely without being picked. (admitted, some are impressive, however, and very catchable)
