Malcolm Butler!!!!

As many times as they are playing it this morning, i keep expecting him to drop it. I think i am still in shock that happened.

Butler made the kind of clutch play ths team has been lacking for years in these big games.

I'm so happy for this kid. I have always liked his toughness, and had it not been for him we may be talking 3 superbowl losses. Biggest play of the game by a udfa, who would've known?

We talk all the time about bb using the whole 53 man roster. It seems the guy who started the year pretty close to 53rd made the SB winning play.

It's easy to remember all the training camp buzz about this guy. So happy for him.

Also props to Mike Lombardi as Butler was his guy.

OK, so I know this doesn't need to be said, but... Kearse is blocking downfield long before the ball is thrown.

Uh... they called a crucial 10 yard penalty on the Patriots in the 4th qtr for Amendola blocking downfield, and his blocking was hardly as illegal as what Kearse did.

Does a flag get thrown there at the end of the game? I don't think it should but... they called it on Amendola, and that call could've ended it for the Patriots.

Heard him on a few different spots, but this one stood out to me.

He gave credit to the coaches as they had practiced that same play during the week. and he also said he got burned every time. Props to Browner for standing his guy up and not allowing the rub to block him out.

World class play and he seemed to have a few other good plays, during the game.

I just mentioned this in Ken's thread but it deserves a repeat here: Thrilled that Butler did what BB preaches: PLAY UNTIL THE WHISTLE IS BLOWN.

Considering the circumstances (another miracle catch?? I just collapsed in my chair) that had our D suddenly backed up at the one-yard line with just 30 seconds to go, I am speechless that Butler and our D fought until the last second giving their 100% and being focussed enough to make and hold on to that INT.

Hats off!!

And yeah, wish TB had tossed the keys to Butler. He deserved it!!

I'm sure this has been mentioned but although the INT was the play of the game, kudos to Malcolm on the crazy catch realizing it was still alive. Some (like myself) could have assumed it was incomplete and he had room to run in for the winning TD. Anyways way to go boys. Epic ending and win.

From Elias: Malcolm Butler intercepted Russell Wilson at the goal line as the Seahawks drove for a potential game-winning touchdown in the final minute to secure the Patriots' 28-24 victory in Super Bowl XLIX. Butler, who signed with New England as a free agent in May, was the first undrafted rookie ever to make an interception in a Super Bowl. In fact, only one other undrafted rookie picked off a pass in any playoff game in the last 25 seasons: Sam Shields, who made two INTs for the Packers against the Bears in the NFC Championship Game four years ago.[/QOUTE]

As I said before, it was not just the INT, but Butler was SHUT-DOWN all the time he was out there.
Also please note that he had recognized and sniffed out the play from watching film and from the prep that BB and Patricia done before the game. So props to Butler for being a good student and the coaching staff for being good teachers.

If he is not corrupted by our CB coach and he gets to train with Revis, he can become very good. What I like about him is his knack to turn and look for the ball. Most of our 2nd rounder CBs came in turning and looking for the ball their first season and then in the second season, they go to ****.
There is a problem at the CB coach position. Why should Browner have to go and beg to cover Matthews? Even my blind friend listening to the game said we should put Browner on Matthews.
I was so shocked to know the independence BB and Matt P gave to the positional coaches. BB really means it when he says do your job. Browner said BB did not interfere and he had to plead for them to make the change.

Alot of you also forget Butler made a play on Kearse (people called it a drop) on a deep ball down the left sideline in the 4th quarter but he got his hand on Kearses arm and prevented a catch that really would have about iced that game for Seattle.

1. GW pick
2. Great D on Kearse bobble catch
3. Trip on Lockette when he fell
4. Hand on Kearses arm on the deep passed called a drop

He wasnt big just once he made a bunch of plays.

Malcolm Butler, a deserved place forever in PATRIOTS Folklore.

I must buy my wife an expensive box of Butlers Chocolates.

Yes you could make the point but I was somewhat fearful going into the game of the direction some "officiating" calls might go. I was very pleasantly surprised the way the game was called overall.

Butler did his part. Harmon didn't clean it up afterwards.

Eric Davis rightly points out that catch would never happen before the new protection to receiver rules. That being said, could Harmon have tried to pick off the ball or was it happening too fast?
