Legend..

Finally getting ready for bed, but I wanted to give Butler his props. He hung on through camp. He was behind Dennard and Ryan, but still hung on. When Dennard had his struggles, he moved up the ladder. When we saw more struggles early today, he stepped in. He tipped that pass that Kearse came up with, and then he made the game saver.

Great job by Malcolm, and it's great that he's got a lifelong memory out of the season because his tenacity paid off for him.

Great post Deus, but how f'n crazy Malc just won a SB for the Pats?

Butler moved that guy right of the way to grab that ball.

Have liked Butler from the 1st time I saw him with Pats. Always near the ball, just a hair too late. Hope his progress continues .

Don't forget he also made that sneaky desperation arm trip play after he fell down and prevented a critical 3rd down conversion and 20yd+ reception in the 4th.

His career in NE is already ten times better than Darius Butler.

It's the Patriot's Way. Tough it out and do your job. He toughed it out at the back-end of the roster all year, from being a longshot to make the team to being a healthy scratch to being a backup in the biggest game of the year. He toughed it out after doing his job and getting beat by a lucky bounce. He didn't hang his head; he stepped-up and made the biggest play of the game on his next chance. That was as difficult a play as there is for a CB, and he made it when it counted most. If Revis makes that play, we say "That's why he's the best CB ever." Malcolm Butler makes it, and we say, "That's why this is the best Pats secondary ever." On what other team does one of the last couple guys to make the roster make the biggest play of the year?

To quote Teddy Bruschi after he ripped the ball out of a runner's hands when the Pats beat the Colts in the Playoffs in Foxboro, he "wanted it more than the other guy."
Also, let's not forget that Browner wrecked the pick that was supposed to keep Butler out of the play.

If everything I've seen is accurate, Butler played 18 defensive snaps (all in the second half), had 1 INT and 3 passes defensed, and made 3 tackles (I don't know whether they're all for catches made on him).

that crazy bobble catch at the end was on butler, but he had perfect coverage...lol. thank god we won

He has a quote to the effect "I wasn't surprised they picked on me; after all, I'm the rookie."

Butler made the greatest play in one of the greatest games. Was UDFA. Now Champion.

Herman Edwards with a great line on Mike and Mike.
"When an offensive player makes a play we say he made a great play"
"When a defensive player makes a play we say the offense blew it"
