NFL Network unwatchable

What I find particularly revealing is that ESPN is, other than its contract to televise games, essentially independent from the league. The NFLN, on the other hand, is owned and operated by the league. So, Goodell gives a press conference and mentions "integrity" 6,413 times in 33 minutes and HIS station employs and regularly features Faulk's and Sapp's opinions? Incredible? Yes. Surprising? No.

Nah.... I just don't get the outrage over the opinions of guys who spent a decade getting their brains jiggled about in their skulls.
All opinions are meaningless. You could probably hit the philosophy forum circuit and discuss this phenomenon of human interaction, while missing the irony of doing so. At least it would keep this board of Patriots fan opinions uncluttered from such inane observations.

I'm dropping NFLN and saving $30 a month because of how the cable company packages it. I advise everybody to do the same.

You should let them know why.

What this whole charade has proven to me is that the media is much too powerful. When they can take a majority of NFL fans and have them believe that Tom Brady = bad while **** Sherman = good, then something is clearly wrong.

You know what I find hilarious about Faulk and Warner's complaining...

NBC just showed a package of Super Bowl XXXIV, and the Kevin Dyson 1-yard short play. How come these two complainers never talk about how the improbable Titans came 1-yard short of keeping them from not having any Super Bowl victories? Al Michaels even goes on record to call the Titans mediocre.

Did Tennessee have to "cheat" to nearly beat them? Give me a brake. Sore losers.

I don't watch much NFL coverage, but there are a few shows that I would normally tape that I haven't and won't. I still taped Playbook, but I haven't watched it yet. It might be the only thing besides CSNE that I will have watch concerning this game. Listening to Dan Koppen, Ty Law and Troy Brown talk football is just so much better than the Warren Sapp's of the NFL world.

The NFL media is chock full of past victims of our team, more than any other. And yet, amazingly, we still trail the Cowboys as the most hated NFL team. They haven't been relevant in a long time.

There are some soccer highlights and attractive girls on Univision. Much better than watching the "commentary", especially since I can't understand a word.

The board would be better served by having posters grow a pair and quit whining every time someone in the media writes or says something that isn't a fawning Patriots piece.

i knew i wouldn't be watching any pregame shows this year, the media ruined what was supposed to be an enjoyable day. I'll even watch the game with the volume off. yes, i am crazy

Just turned on to see what they are talking about..First thing I hear is Marshall Faulk saying Brady is having negative thoughts heading into this game because he lost the last 2. I didn't realize he was a mind reader. Then Sapp chimes in that if the Pats lose, it all goes back to Spygate. Jeez.. Irvin did say if Pats win, Brady the best QB ever...reasoning was because how far he has come being only a 6th ropund pick. That doesn't make sense to me....but at least a positive lol

I advise you to only watch media that supports the patriots and never suggests that they could lose a game. You should only watch media comments that are approved in advance by Belichick.

A few weeks ago we got notice that our Directv contract was up. After reviewing our program choice my Bride asked me if I still wanted to keep the NFLN package and I figured WTF, the regular season was over and I can get by without it. Best choice I've recently made. Not only did I lose the NFLN, I lost ESPN as well and never got to watch all the crap since the Ravens game.

Go Freaken Patriots!

You're not crazy. You have chosen to watch 1950's and 1960's level television, limiting yourself to basic cable. BTW, I'm surprised that there is even a Direct TV package available without ESPN.

I just checked. There is indeed a bottom package that doesn't have ESPN or NFLN. The cost for the package with ESPN is $5 more than the bottom package. Another $5 gets you the package with NFLN. Of course, these package also give you other packages. The situation might be slightly different for your zip code.

I'm watching channel 7 pregame stuff and they have this homo ice skater co hosting a lot of the stuff.

This is all you need to know about that garbage network and the people they PAY to have [****ty] opinions:

I do love this after Wilson comes off a game where he threw four picks

I wish the gauging Brady to Montana talk would just stop. Different era, different rules, bigger and stronger athletes today. Tough argument with no time machine to prove anything.

It's an impossible argument and you win or lose. This talk shouldn't really happen until Brady retires and his accomplishments truly kick in. Most players legacies grow after they leave the game. Right now he is a legend still playing and some despise him for that. Don't know what you got till it's gone applies here. The haters probably will come around after he's been gone a little bit and realize the greatness that was Tom Brady.

No it is actually quite easy QB's are all about their teams winning. Montana has a sterling .713 winning % 1 of only 3 QB with over 100 starts who wins at that rate (Staubach has a ,745 winning %) However Brady is head and shoulders above Montana as a reg season QB, .774 winning %. To put THAT in perspective Brady has the same number of reg season losses as Super (bitter) Joe, BUt he has 43 MORE reg season wins.

Brady of course has 4 more playoff wins and 1 more loss he has a higher winning % in the playoffs also. If he wins another SB he is head and shoulders above Montana as a NFL QB.

As Parcells says:" YOU ARE WHAT YOUR RECORD SAYS YOU ARE."

Thats a joke right?

You know if we lose we will never be able to watch any sports programs outside of boston markets right...because it will be this 24/7

FWIW, I don't ever watch pre-game shows. What's the point? I might watch Playbook or analysis the day before or even in the morning on NFLN, but network pre-game shows have little value.

Perhaps we can hear from folks who watch these shows. There must be a reason to watch.

Thats a joke right?

People have really been playing up Wilson's running ability, in the aftermath of the NFCCG. It ignores the fact that Wilson was a steaming pile for most of that game, but it's not surprising.

Sometimes they have good Patriot player interviews but most of the time is the "analysts" saying stuff out of their ass.

I agree. However, Brady's hero is Montana. If Brady is to be compared to the best quarterbacks, surely there should be comparisons to Montana. Personally, I like these discussions better than comparing him to Manning and Rodgers.

I'm watching the Walking Dead marathon on AMC until the game starts. A pox on all their houses

if we win then brady actually has to speak to these people like carter/tom jackson. wish he could just talk to deion/michael irvin. don't waste his time with bitter losers like carter and faulk/warner.
Strangely he seemed genuinely happy to see Kurt on media day. He was practically beaming.
