Most Footballs "A Few Ticks Under"

Has there been a Deflategate thread where you haven't popped in to say how much you don't care?

I couldn't possibly pop into every deflate gate thread. There's been probably over 100 of them since the news broke. Same posters whining throughout.

Did they cover this on NFL Network yet?

So did Mort exaggerate or did the source?

There's a whole bunch of dirt surrounding how this was initially reported and considering it was super bowl fortnight. Really looks like the NFL were trying to scupper us.

Well, can an elderly man deflate 12 footballs in 98 secs? Many were just a few ticks under 12.5. One was 2 pounds under...was that the one Jackson intercepted? This thing has more holes in it than swiss cheese. Unfortunately, I think we'll still be punished because the NFL has invested so much in this. They need to save face. There is no integrity in this Goodell.

Yet Dquell Jackson didn't notice the ball was underinflated, at least while it was in his possession.

A few ticks is either within margin of error, the difference 2 gauges can have between readouts and of course, totally hidden by a squeeze test.

...elderly man took the balls into the bathroom. Pats discovered the footage and turned it over.
Plus change the thread title to "many" of them a few ticks under

So the game day operator who took the balls into the toilet was elderly and was in there for 98 seconds. To my mind this is proof the Patriots were guilty; elderly men take longer than 98 seconds to pee!
I know some that stand there for several minutes before they pee! Time for a prostate check Goodell

Also re-open the Spygate investigation and let's find out Kensil's role in it.[/QUOTE]

I think the "pundit reporters" and "pundit sportscasters" should owe the Patriots & Kraft an apology for being a "lynch mob" and exaggerating on BS "leaks".

I mean from "ball boy" to "eldery person" in the bathroom. Good grief.

so, the franchise, HOF QB and Coach were dragged through the mud because 11 of the 12 footballs were just a "few ticks" under 12.5 which can happen due to the weather.

and Goodell and the NFL sat there while this all happened. I sorely want to see Belichick/brady hoist the lombardi tonight more than any other season.

"Many of them were just a few ticks under the minimum".

How about all the science??.. Brady has already stated that he prefers the balls at 12.5 PSI... perhaps Luck prefers 13.5, which would account for no rules violation by the Colts..

Goodell spoke about the integrity of the NFL, this leak undermines that and shows how weak of a leader he really is.. he should focus on why these leaks continually emerge and why he cannot stop them.

So... An eldery guy takes the bag of footballs into the bathroom, for one and a half minutes, and those footballs were "a few ticks under spec."

This is all the NFL has? Really? Are they going to paint a grand image for us of an old man ninja deflating all the footballs by 0.4 PSI each in under 2 minutes, cackling to himself "yeah, here you go Tommy, this 3% reduction in air pressure is gonna help you SMOKE them Colts..."

Or is it more likely that the ref just didn't check them adequately in the first place and the old guy is a regular old guy who needs to talk to his doctor about prescription Flomax?

I refuse to check the pregame shows to see what they're saying about this because they will spin it, ignore it or just go back to wild speculation. I'm mad enough about this as it is.

The law firm representing the N.F.L. (Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison) has reached out to Columbia University’s department of physics to recruit an expert on “gas physics” to help determine, as has been reported, the “environmental impacts on inflated footballs.”

So, could a drop in temperature do the dirty deed? If you want to go full geek, read the fine print below, but the bottom line is that the little formula can explain a drop in pressure to nearly 11 pounds per square inch, while barely breaking a sweat.

Firing is too good for Goodell.

Just heard on NFL talking with Ian. 12pm NFL channel.

1 was 2PSI under.
4 or 5 was 1-PSI under
the rest were a tick-or-very-close to 12.5 PSI.

Some of the balls may not have been exposed much to the rain. Think about it some balls probably stayed in the bottom of the sack. Wetter balls used more lost more heat and thus pressure. Plus a wet ball may lose pressure just from being wet. See head smart labs study.
