2015 Draft Prospect Thread

Finally got a look at the measurements from the Medal of Honor Bowl and was disappointed to see that Terry Williams measured 5'11.5" with only 30" arms. Another red flag on him; there aren't many sub 6' DTs in the league.
Hes only chance would be as FB I think with those numbers, DT is a no go.

He was also 344lbs and there aren't many 344 sized FBs either. I think he'll still be a DT, he'll just have to be an exceptional one to not just be a practice squadder or back of the roster guy.

Donno about that, Richardson and Poe are close. Seymour was up there when he payed FB for Patriots :D

@kennyb , @BobDigital and @JerseyShore99 have all shown interest in Jalen Collins I believe. Credit to them because he could be an interesting prospect:

LSU coaches were telling scouts that Collins was one of the few DBs that was able to lockdown Odell Beckham Jr in practice.

And from NFL.com:

SOURCES TELL US
"They all have holes, but Collins is what you are looking for in an NFL cornerback with his length and speed. He isn't there yet, but he has the traits and ability to become a high-end starter and maybe the best cornerback from this draft." -- NFC director of personnel

Marcus Hardison ranked at no 80 on ESPN's big board.

Boom! :)

Does anyone have an opinion of OT DJ Humphries from Florida?

I admittedly haven't seen a whole lot of him but from what I have seen I was impressed. He's a former top recruit who had a good start to his college career before he was thrown off a bit by injury his sophomore year. He came back well last season but I think he still has a ton of improvement left in him.

He is extremely athletic with good length and seems like a prototypical LT. He has a frame that still has plenty of room to add weight without losing much of his athleticism. He is excellent in pass protection with quick feet and I really like the way he extends his arms and uses his hands. The most impressive thing for me though is the way he works within the OL unit and seems to have a good understanding of what he is doing. He works well with his LG to diagnoses and handle stunts and blitzes, as well as seal off blocks or get to the second level as a run blocker.

He still needs to add some strength though to hold up a bit better against the bull rush but I think his ceiling is very high. To me he is an NFL LT with excellent pass protection skills and the ability to get to the second level as a blocker.

CBS Sports currently has him as a 7th rounder but unless his medical is really bad he will go much higher than that. Walter Football has him to us in the end of the 3rd round which I think is probably fair at this point, but in the end I think he is probably a 2nd round with an outside shot of being a late 1st rounder if he rises fast.

LT is obviously an interesting position to watch with Solder in his 5th and final year of his rookie contract and likely looking at a big payday in free agency. If the Pats choose not to, or cant afford to sign Solder long term I think now is the time to draft and groom a replacement. I think Humphries would be an ideal option to sit for a year to learn and add strength with an eye to potentially take over in 2016.

Welcome back Wilfork75, we've missed your input.

I haven't actually watched him but have been doing some reading on him and a 2nd round grade looks possible to likely. My concern is that he's a reported 284lb so he's not like to switch to LG but drafting him early would give us 5 OT on the roster including Fleming and Cannon. That strikes me as an expensive pick for limited early value.

FWIW, Lance Zierlin at NFL.com gives him a D'Brickashaw Ferguson comp.

Thanks manx. I believe the 284lb number is he was at in 2013 when he had trouble keeping weight on due to injuries. He was up to 300lbs this season but I think he still needs to add some weight and strength. If he was stronger I think he would make an excellent LG because of his movement skills and instincts against stunts and blitzes. But to me he looks like a prototypical LT.

The roster construction could eventually become an issue but I don't think its something you can really take into consideration for the draft. I don't think Fleming or Cannon are LT's and I would prefer to keep Vollmer on the right side. I also think the versatility of a lot of our OL would make this a non issue, especially if Humphries can add some strength and have the OT/OG versatility.

just watched him against Shane Ray and was quite impressed. He certainly looks bigger than 284 and has long arms. he got beat by Ray a couple of times - Ray is a ridiculous athlete - but wasn't completely embarrassed. definitely looks like a LT prospect as you say. Still think I'd rather have someone who can project to LG or OT, whether that's a first rounder like La'el Collins or TJ Clemmings or a Jake Fisher or maybe Ty Sambraillo on day two. Wouldn't rule him out though.

Well, we can trade up then. Good eye Manx. I'm thinking this order this morning.

1. Odighizuwa - DE
2. D. Smith - T - PSU - Looked good at 341 in Mobile. Get him down to 325 and play him at LG.
I'd take Tomlinson too. Smith offers a little position versatility though.
3. M. Hardison - DT - ASU - We can give up our 4th and go get him. BB is buddies with Graham.
Should get a little info on him.

Then, we can hit some skill positions at 97 and 102. RB's always drop. We can snag one there. And, probably a wr too.

I would love this but then i want one of Gurley, Coleman or Abdullah too. Hate having to make choices!

Gurley's gonna go before 32. Won't be an issue. Tevin Coleman could drop because of his foot injury. I had him a sure-fire 2nd rounder before that. I thought Abdullah would go late 2nd. He might be there at 64. I wouldn't complain if we picked any of the three. I see Gurley and Gordon going in the 1st. Might be four guys in round 2; Yeldon, Coleman, Duke Johnson and Abdullah. I really like Mike Davis and David Cobb. Neither is a home-run threat. But, both can move the chains on the ground. And, are good receivers to boot. Maybe, one falls to 97.

What about Poutasi? Do u see him as LG?
or maybe Erving? Versatility?

Erving, probably; Poutasi, maybe not.

I don't have an issue with both at LG bit I wonder about them at LT. Solders future might be an issue so someone that can play LG but that can step into Solder's shoes if necessary would be useful.

Daniel Jeremiah says Humphries is a first rounder. Must be an initials thing :)

Anyone have an opinion on Shaq Mason from Georgia Tech?

I love him. But, because of his height, I suspect he's borderline draftable. I think he can be a starter at RG or OC though. Excellent technician and very mobile.
