Let Lynch Run...

The weapon we "remove" from Seattle is Wilson's ability to run and break the pocket (giving his WRs 5+ seconds). Lynch should be dealt with as best as possible. I don't think Lynch can beat us but Wilson can.

shut down lynch and keep wilson in the pocket and we win the game. The last thing I want is Lynch going off and the Hawks chewing up a bunch of yardage and time. To let Lynch run you have to execute on just about every drive and the Hawks won't allow you to do that. This isn't Baltimore's secondary.

The game plan for SB 25 allowed Thurman Thomas to run b/c Jim Kelly and the BUF Bills had one of the more powerful offenses of all time, and they wanted them to milk the clock a bit, while limiting their points in the red zone.

Do you really think that applies in this case? I certainly don't.

If they allow Lynch to run on Sunday they are most likely going to get beat. And don't be surprised if SEA completely tries to take Gronkowski away, thus limiting his production.

I think they shouldn't cover Gronk at all, lulling us into a false sense of security. Of course i'm a Pats fan and they'd be crazy to actually do that.

I think they do a decent job of taking Gronk away, so we'll have to utilize some other weapons.

Hopefully, Brady isn't locked in on #87--thus forcing another bad turnover like we saw at the end of the half the past 2 games (BAL and IND). That's really a big concern for me.

I'd really like to see Gronk contribute in the running game, to be honest with you. They can't really stop that from happening.

I disagree, and here's why.... Wilson is the reason the Hawks are in the SB. He is far more effective than we on this board give him credit for. Let Lynch get enough yardage to lull the Hawks into a false sense of security , then Brady slams the hammer down.

While I agree Wilson often doesn't get the credit he deserves, I think you are failing to credit our secondary where credit is due.

You're welcome to that opinion but I don't agree, not even in the slightest.

The reason why the Seahawks are in the Super Bowl is because Marshawn Lynch punished Green Bay's mistakes then Green Bay further capitulated. Stop Lynch and force the ball into Wilson's hands. Seattle does not have the receiving threats of Baltimore and Indianapolis. I couldn't think of a better game plan than one that stops Lynch and keeps Wilson in the pocket. Take away Wilson's ability to extend the play and he's done. He panics in the pocket and starts making poor decisions.

I'm not afraid of anyone on the Seahawks O outside of Lynch. He's a dual threat back and the Patriots need to be aware of this. Stop Lynch, don't commit mistakes and this isn't a close game.

He's a known commodity too. How many years was he on the Bills? Of all the Seahawks I would bet the most film on anyone on that Seattle team is squarely on him....and against BB type defensive strategies to boot.

No, the "trickery" in defense more likely is Seattle coming out like Pitt did a few years ago and instead of their usual mix of zone and some man looks going 100% press man or something like LeBeau did that game.

Exactly. Pats aren't losing the game because Lynch runs for 170; but they are losing if Wilson runs for 70.

If he's as great as you say, which I dispute, the best way to defend him is to make him one dimensional by stoning the running game.Letting him pass, run outside, while Lynch run free inside, sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.
The key is ensuring Lynch AND Wilson are not running.

Make Wilson throw into man to man coverage.

Wilson is quick as a cat and is best when he plays "sand lot" style.

I have a game plan theory..

BB will WANT Lynch to run. Sort of a throwback to his defensive plan with the Giants against the Bills.
Because, Wilson is actually a very good QB who has won more games with his arm than Lynch has with his legs.

My SB game plan:

BB will pull a 'rope a dope' by letting Lynch run, playing out the string...and Brady strikes with seam passes to Gronk and Vereen.

No, the key to this game is stopping Lynch and stopping wilson from making plays with his legs.

Seattle has 4 losses. In 3 of the 4 Lynch rushed for 36, 61 and 53 yards. The exception was the loss to KC where he rushed 24 times for 124 yards. That was the game where Charles went for 150 and 2 scores. Seems like if you control Lynch you have a better chance to win the game.

Slightly changing the subject, aside from GB with a hobbled Rogers combined with a incompetent second half game plan by the Packers, Seattle only beat one top 10 offense during their current winning streak and that was a Sanchez led Eagles. During that stretch they beat Arizona twice (24th), San Fran twice (25th), St Louis (21st), Carolina (19th).

Don't be surprised when in the first half it looks like Lynch is running it down our throats.

That might happen, but it won't be because belichick wants it to happen.

Wilson wasn't even in the top 10 in total QBR: http://espn.go.com/nfl/qbr
Lynch led the NFL in rushing TDs and was 4th in total yards: http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/rushing/sort/rushingTouchdowns/seasontype/2

Lynch is the engine that makes the Seattle offense go.

Xxxxxxxxxxx massive fail. no no no

Wilson isn't a great thrower. Reveivers aren't great. Lynch is great Watch film

Last two years, SEA is 4-4 when rushing for less than 109 yards. In those games they have scored 21ppg.
