(Post Edit): Breaking: NFL Ref's Press Conference Just Blew Deflategate To Pieces!!!!!!

Sup, I asked you what you believe really happened? I'm not really getting why you can't answer that. Do you believe the ball boy went into a public bathroom an in under 90 seconds recalibrated 12 game balls ? After Brady had already signed off on them as those he wanted.

Do you think, Brady is lying? Because that ball boy isn't tampering with the balls on his own just for kicks.

I've answered this multiple times now, but will include my response yet again.
And you seem to be suggesting that Belichick, Kraft, and Brady, as well as the ball boy, are all lying, because it couldn't be a ref trying to cover his ass.

It's really simple, you either believe that Brady told the kid to deflate the balls and he did, or you don't. The rest is all chafe.

The hater case makes no sense at all.

Again....I can't keep saying the same thing, but I'm starting to realize that you don't really care about an answer, and have your mind made up about what you think I'm trying to say. I already stated that I defend the team all day long here in Pittsburgh.

Remember the "at school, at the barbershop," etc quote? It was pretty much at the very beginning of my statement.

Despite my personal feelings on the Pats innocence, I also believe that there's plenty of reason for concern since we're dealing with Goodell, a low burden of proof, what seems to be an obvious witch hunt, and now a second coincidence that will have to be explained (the fact the ball boy went to the bathroom, along with the fact that the balls lost pressure). While it's probably nothing more than simple coincidence, it may give the investigators, the commissioner, and the general public more ammo to find something wrong.

For the record, so some nitwit doesn't spend all day trolling me without reading the actual thoughts, I agree that Brady and the team like the footballs at the low end of the spectrum, which would be around12.5. I certainly think the weather may have affected the air pressure, thus lowering it. As others have noted, I also believe that they may have had some a bit lower, which is the responsibility of the refs to catch--although I'm certainly not making any accusations.

I can't comment on the Colts balls, b/c we don't have enough information about that.

I don't want to be known as the guy who debated whether or not it was the refs' fault, or whether or not they tested the balls with a pressure gauge; therefore, I'm out.

I didn't think that I needed to tell anyone here at patsfans.com whose "side" I was on, but obviously that has come into question from those who can't bear to see any facts debated or questioned, despite the fact that I've stated many, many times how much I believe Brady and Belichick. I simply thought that we were all on the same side, yet could talk about some of the finer nuances of the subject matter, just the same as we did with the Hernandez case.

We will find out what happens whenever we find out. In the meantime, I'll see you in the football threads :)

bert breer was on 98.5 this morning.......when told that there was no way of knowing that the balls were within the PSI spec and that the league has nothing because it is possible that the refs approved of underinflated balls and that it is the job of the ref to make sure they are inflated to the correct value which is exactly how the rule is written, he said that if the pats intentionally deflated the balls BEFORE the refs inspection that it still an attempt to skirt the issue.

you see, this is not longer about PSI.........between the media and the front office of the NFL, it is all about saving face.......something that has been seen as pretty trivial that got blown out of proportion now has to stay out of proportion until whoever get the exact outcome that they want....which is to hang BB

How can this possibly be the issue when BB, in his PC, said "we gave the balls to the ref and asked him to inflate them to [legal] 12.5 psi"? At that point, it is up to the ref to "just do his job".

even though the guy on 98.5 said that it is the refs job to make sure they are infalted to at least 12.5, that if the pats gave them knowingly underinflated ball....that it still is attempt to skirt the rules.....

to me it sounded like a reach of epic proportions......when it come to deflategate, why should today be any different?

I think this is all nothing more than an attempt to distract the pats as much as possible........it literally is 'us against the world'

Bert Breer is really outdoing himself with the douchebaggery this time. There's actually nothing illegal about the Patriots putting it lower than 12.5 and the refs missing it, nor would I say is it anymore outside of the spirit of the game than an offensive tackle holding and not getting called for it.

And Belichick has already explained it - the Patriots pumped to 12.5 PSI within their given environment. Between the friction from rubbing the ball warming it up, the locker room being warmer than the outside, and the balls being drier and therefore less volume than they would be once wet, the PSI reading was going to fall below 12.5. If it is confirmed - as suspected by the delay before the start of the 3rd quarter - that the Patriots were filling up their balls on the sideline with <50F air, and into balls which had already expanded due to wet leather, then it should be no surprise that the Patriots balls stayed compliant in the second half. By reason, we should expect the Colts balls were filled in a similar environment and situation to begin the game for their balls to remain compliant all game.

No rules were broken here. The rule is a stupid one. Pressure depends on volume & temperature. What the NFL really wants to enforce is that the ball has the same # of moles of air from when the refs hand it off to the end of the game. Unfortunately for them, measuring PSI is not a way of calculating that unless they take into account the V & the T, which they are not, and which it would be ridiculous to try.

I find it funny/ironic that ONCE Belichick held his presser, then Kraft backed up his team, then much of the "evidence" was proven false, then some facts came out that supported the Pats' stance, the media stepped back their witch hunt and it was "it's time to talk some football."
I guarantee that if Belichick or Brady had come out and said they deflated the balls or if Kraft didn't support his guys, we wouldn't be "talking football" now...F the media...

Yes, you're exactly right. No one is interested in anything that might alter the initial rush to judgement. But wait, 'cause you ain't seen nothing' yet. Tomorrow there will be a Tomase style allegation. Then, after the Pats win on Sunday, there will be a new cheating allegation on Monday. Yup, the best is yet to come.

Oh, I know.......I think the motives now have nothing to do with the actual deed. Look at it from a few different angles......if this ends up sideways without any closure, there is going to be a major beef between the pats (kraft) and the front office (goodell or whoever) as well as a major beef between the coaching/players and the media........moving forward, I would just shut down the entire team when it comes to media access until the whole thing goes away. At this point, you could argue that the lines of questioning during media access aren't about generating meaningful insight leading up to the superbowl, but rather an obvious attempt to distract. And the NFL front office is complicit since it would have been real easy to put out a statement that this week is about the superbowl and that addressing the rules around ball inflation will be done in the offseason. But they don't....you know why? Both the NFL and the media have looked utterly stupid regarding this issue and goddamit, they are going to dig themselves out of it.

The biggest change for next year is going to be the league addressing media matters........which has done so much more to mess up the finest hour of the league than ball inflation has

So the refs are to be believed.....simple as that. Than why not believe the ball boy?
The solution for goodell is to say this is an old rule from 1930, we were not prepared for this. From now on the rule will be...etc . We found no evidence that the Pats tried to get a competitive advantage .Sorry to the Pats and whoever was involved. The balls played no part in the outcome of the game.

because the mission is not the rules, the mission is to discredit the pats....just imagine the hatred that will ensue when brady retires, that the pats have identified a QB/situation that would continue their success?

In his defense, he quit after a year.

I hope you aren't using wikipedia for your info. Goody's "history" was changed on wiki back in 2007.

His real resume should read that he started as a Jets intern in 1982 and slithered into the NFL office in 1984.

So when is someone going to take Jay Glazer to task for reporting that it was a sting operation? Never seen a sting like this before.

Screw him and all the other crybabies. We can get to them later.

Heard Kravitz briefly on D&C. Said he doesn't think Pats will be in any trouble. Maybe fully exonerated. Thinks ultimately deflate gate isn't going to be a blow to their legacy. Believes Brady's good name will be restored very quickly when/if found not to be responsible.

I was. Why don't you edit in the correct info, if you know it?

I'm going to call a few local bike shops and see if there is a bicycle in existence that can send me pedaling backwards faster than he just did.
