(Post Edit): Breaking: NFL Ref's Press Conference Just Blew Deflategate To Pieces!!!!!!

There have been plenty of comments which stated that they never measured the pressure of the balls prior to the game etc, with many pointing out the "squeeze test." Obviously, the NFL has stated that is not correct, both on Friday and also today now.

Supafly, just curious...why do you keep misrepresenting the truth? Many posters are disagreeing with your contentions...and trying to suggest that the NFL is purposely choosing their words, very carefully I might add, to create the impression in peoples' minds that testing was, in fact, done...using a pressure gauge? Can you produce one statement by the NFL (or its representative) that conclusively states that measurements were taken with a pressure gauge and that said measurements were at or above 12.5 psi for each of those 24 footballs?? Aren't you even a little skeptical about the choice of words the NFL utilizes in its staements? You may want to read the link below, coming from a pretty reputable source (Mike Reiss):

The NFL has been extremely careful to not specify what psi the balls were at when they were ostensibly tested. They also haven't gone on the record stating that Anderson used an actual pressure gauge. It seems that those two nuggets would be the first two bullets to be fired.

How hard is it to say, "I tested the balls with the pressure gauge that was provided to me by the team. They were all rockin' a 12.5. Next question."

Let's be honest....

There are many who have stated that we'll be getting other teams' draft picks, public apologies, etc--c'mon.

Anyone who thinks they will get a pick
,is crazy but questioning whether the ref used the gauge on 48 balls is entirely reasonable. I don't believe he did and won't until he provides proof. Imo the real issue has been people taking selective leaks as proof when they are really just smears. The league has disgraced themselves.

Right on the money.

Perhaps this is some of the pom pom waving that I was referring to? ;)

Dean Blandino's comments from today:
Blandino said he couldn't get into many details with the investigation ongoing. Afterwards, in a side session with a handful of reporters, he said referee Walt Anderson tested the footballs with a gauge himself, which he has done throughout his career."

How the hell is that "misinterpreting the truth" as you state?

This isn't semantics. It's not "gauging the situation." Blandino flat out stated that "Anderson tested the footballs with a gauge."

Basically sup you are just saying that those who disagree with you are waving pom poems. Meanwhile you seem to be siding with a league office that has zero credibility.

They interviewed Blandino again today, who stated that "referee Walt Anderson tested the footballs with a gauge himself, which he has done throughout his career."

Where is all of this gray area about questioning the use of a gauge? What are you talking about?

Someone earlier said if a ball's short on air, the refs and/or NFL ball boys add air. If it feels hard, they take a little off the top. I have no idea how true this is. Can anybody confirm?

Second question: Refs are always throwing in a new ball. But does anybody know whether that's just what they do, or whether it's by request? ("Yo, new ball heah!")

I hate to throw in variables. But if you like the balls at the low end of the range - and below - you just keep playing with the same ball and let the rain work its magic on it.

If everybody's using the same balls, the other team not doing that - based on the unsubstantiated first claim, above - ensures that you keep the remaining balls inflated.

I am sure we'll hear allllllll about how NFL ball-handling works after Sunday. Feh. We'll find out what the league's thinking.

Not just another black eye for the league but a broken face. Oh well, the face needed a lot of work anyway so maybe its time for a whole new one.

It doesn't strike you as odd that he never said anything like this in the presser itself? And he still didn't specify what they measured at?

I'd like to know which reporters were in that session, and then see if we can sync them up to tomorrow's leaks.

Blandino is a shill. He says he can't go into details but then does just that. Just more selective smearing, I have had it with this league. It's a bad f.cking joke, the WWE had more credibility.

Sure is quiet with all the deflate gate talk. Wonder why?

Dont these reporters love to spew out any new news ASAP? Why isnt this huge revelation all over the news? Maybe it does not fit an agenda of some sorts?

What will we tell the children about journalism reporting the truth?

I'm not disagreeing with anything that you're saying about the competency of the league (or lack thereof).

I'm simply stating that it doesn't appear that they just squeezed the balls and moved on--that's all, and even if they did, they are not going to admit that. As a matter of fact, they've stated the opposite now at least twice.

Why are we all attacking @supafly exactly? Let's keep our holy rage directed at the right people here.

It's all good, man, but I appreciate the attempt to keep the focus where it should be.

I suppose disagreeing with the fact that it was the refs fault or questioning anything about the entire process would automatically place a target on my back, so that's to be understood.

Hopefully, the majority who really know me realize where I'm coming from--and if they don't, oh well.

Imo the league front office is the one with credibility issues, I think they have lied repeatedly throughout the year and continue to do so. On the other hand Belichick, Brady, and Kraft don't have that track record.
