(Post Edit): Breaking: NFL Ref's Press Conference Just Blew Deflategate To Pieces!!!!!!

Well, judging by their stance and comments, the pressure before the game was within the acceptable range of 12.5 to 13.5.

I'm not asking for a range! :)

If I am being asked to determine how much a ball was intentionally deflated by the New England Patriots, I need to know exactly what it was at the start and exactly what it was later. Otherwise, I don't even know if it even was deflated, and certainly not by how much.

Yup.

The refs and the Patriots are really just pawns in the game of the NFL empty suits arbitrarily turning on a dime and making something they obviously couldn't care less about 2 weeks ago suddenly a national security-level importance, once the Colts complained.

I'm going to be honest...I'm still shocked that the NFL would do this. Just shocked.

The fact that it's right before the SB and has taken the focus off of a great matchup seems even stranger to me, and I think that's one of the reasons why I'm apprehensive of getting excited right now.

I hear ya.

What's more disturbing is how the national media is still ignoring that the ball attendant is an NFL (not Patriot) employee and had custody of BOTH Colts and Pats bags and the obvious trust of the referees and NFL officials to be in custody of both teams' bags..

I don't want to go around in circles, hwc.

I'm simply pointing out the stance from the NFL and the refs, who claim that the balls were within the acceptable range and then they came up short a couple of hrs later.

As much as I'd enjoy pretending that it may not be "enough," only time will tell, since we're still missing a lot of facts here.

I believe that it was the weather. We'll see if the NFL agrees.

The ball boys' entire job is to carry the footballs from the ref's locker to the field and up and down both sidelines, handing them out to the refs when called upon. Of course, the refs turn over the balls to the ball boys. That's what the ball boys are there for.... :)
I believe the refs are suppose to walk with the ball boy to the field.

Perhaps they broke protocol because they wanted to have everything right for the AFCCG?

You've been very level headed and open throughout this whole thing, so kudos for that.

My comments about not blaming the refs and disputing the notion that the balls' PSI were not measured will not come off as a popular stance since I am openly questioning facts instead of waving pom poms, but I'm simply trying to get to the bottom of it.

At the end of the day I truly and honestly believe that neither TFB or BB have done anything wrong, but I'm still leery about the way that the NFL has handled everything, which may point to them having an agenda that is concerning to me.

Who is waving pom poms? All I have seen are fans who want some proof before passing judgment, and like you they want to get to the Bottom of it as Well.

'Tuck Rule' ref was Walt Coleman, not Walt Anderson.

Yeah, I addressed that error earlier and apologize.

I'm getting the 2 "Walts" with very common last names (Anderson, Coleman) mixed up.

Either way, Anderson is a very reputable referee with 15+ yrs of experience as well, and he's also worked a SB or two--so he seems to be rather competent in my opinion. Time will tell.

No,team has ever been punished for ball PSI during any NFL game. If a ball is low they just put air in and if it's high they just let some out.
The rule is 12.5 to 13.5 by the NFL.

When you sign on to play in the NFL, you agree to follow The laws of the NFL. The Patriots decided to follow the laws of physics instead. Belichick obviously thinks my laws aren't important and he can break them. We need to send a clear message, you can't pick and choose when to follow NFL rules.

Let's be honest....

There have been plenty of comments which stated that they never measured the pressure of the balls prior to the game etc, with many pointing out the "squeeze test." Obviously, the NFL has stated that is not correct, both on Friday and also today now.

There are many who have stated that we'll be getting other teams' draft picks, public apologies, etc--c'mon.

the only law is my law and it is GOODLAW

I love the Pats but I hate the NFL and all the media members that played such a vital role in the systematic attempt to discredit the New England Patriots.

I truly hold the NFL leadership in utter contempt after this deliberate attack on my team. They can all go to hell!!!

Maybe the Pats ought to hire some investigators to look at the league and the people in powerful positions
I'm pretty sure BB has a dosier on Kensil that goes back to before Bill resigned from the Jets. I suspect Kensil may have been one of the reasons he did resign. That file would be a good starting point, along with electronic communications amongst Pagano, Irsay, Kensil and Harbaugh.

I honestly think now this is just the biggest comedy of errors I have ever seen come out of the league office. And thats saying alot.

Imagine the following:

1. Balls are tested however before the game, they are all ok.
2. Indy gets one ball, and it has a low pressure.
3. The NFL ops guy decides the pats are at it again.
4. He has the refs test the balls at 1/2 time again, most of the pats balls are below the limit due to the weather. No psi's are logged.
5. Colts balls are ok, since they started out at the upper end of the range.
6. Colts file a normal, every day protest (It happens all the time, I don't see this as too nefarious).
7. After the game, some colts official contacts the reporter in Indy, "guess what, the pats were using underinflated balls, NFL is investigating).
8. ****storm.

Since no psi's are logged, numbers can be juiced by the "sources". The ref remembers one ball at 13.5, and one of the balls at 1/2 time was 11.5...so it had to be 2 psi for ~all~ the balls. Leaks that info. Someone else knows that they are probably not the same ball, and counters with his own understanding...more like 1 psi, cause they dont really know!!!

Supa, I'm not shocked and here's why. They don't know WTF they're doing. They're bumbling, stumbling incompetent fools. They've screwed up every, single crisis/scandal for years now. Every organization takes its lead from its CEO. As I've said before, that guy couldn't run a 7-11.

Hey Supa -- Blandino said Anderson "gauged " them. That doesn't mean he used a gauge, it could mean he assessed them to be correct.

That could be a theory to consider, hoodie.
