They didn't write it down at halftime. Imagine how busy thee guys were unless it took only 90 seconds that is :) How long did it take them I wonder?

So...when is Krafts apology NFL? God i want to boycott this league so bad....but can't...

I hope that Kraft has seen enough that just getting cleared in this is not enough. He needs to fight hard for the Pats good name.

We didn't even know the name of Mike Kensil before Deflategate and now it appears possible, if not likely, that he was involved in catching the Pats for Spygate and getting them over punished. Two ex-Rat employees being involved in a record setting punishment of the Rats' longtime nemesis stinks of bias, and Spygate should be re-visited and a more reasonable punishment handed down.

Cue Tom Hagen....

Senator this committe owes an apology!

The NFL's senior executives are human garbage for letting this thing spiral out of control.
These guys are completely asleep at the switch on just about every single issue that comes down the pipe.
It's like the piles of money they are sitting on at the NFL HQ makes them all sleepy and lethargic.
They are a truly sorry lot!

I'll have to disagree with rlcarr and others saying the Patriots are still on the dock.

Mort's report is bogus.

I can certainly understand gauging and approving the balls pregame without logging.

But they also didn't do it at the half?

What, were they supposed to memorize the drop in 11 of 12 balls (not to mention the 12 Colts balls)?

So now we don't even know what the balls at the half measured.

Does Florio have good sources? Because right now, his reporting seems more accountable than Mort's.

I agree. There seems to be at least two posters who are failing to see the logic that others are trying to convey.

Today's quote (or paraphrasing) of Blandino's comments does NOT imply that he was referring to the pre-game process of evaluating the footballs, whereas it is easy to believe that this comment could have very well referred to the halftime measurements...which I have high confidence were done with a gauge.

It's easy to argue that the NFL can or will rule against us, regardless of whether they have any concrete evidence. But continuing to "argue" with this line of reasoning is pointless, as it never really changes anything, it doesn't add to the overall understanding of the events...as they occurred....nor does it provide insight into any underlying motives (on either side).

The facts are as follows:
  • The NFL is conducting an investigation as to why the footballs were found to be under-inflated by 2 psi, CORRECTION 1 psi (on average)
  • The NFL has made two "official" statements...one last Thursday (their written statement) and one today (by Blandino)...as well as numerous unofficial statements (otherwise known as leaks), yet not once have they been able to explicitly state what the pressures where at any point along the timeline. If they had the ability to do that, they could easily buttress their position and seize the moral and technical high ground. But they haven't done it. Why not?
  • There have been numerous studies done by competent/credentialed individuals that attest to the possibility that he balls could have become deflated by as much as 1.8 psi...or certainly 1 psi...just due to the environmental conditions alone.
  • There is an easy explanation for why the Colt balls were found to be "within range": 1) they started at the high end of the pressure range (i.e. 13.5 psi), or 2) they started out at ambient (i.e. outside) temperature when they were initially "measured", or 3) a combination of the two.
  • The NFL has allowed a leaked report about a ballboy...taking a short 90 second break to take a wizz...to perpetuate itself as the smoking gun in this controversy. Is that the leadership you'd expect from the front office? Is that all they've got to hang their hat on?? Pathetic. Why was a ballboy entrusted with these balls in the first place? Does it take much brainpower to figure out that the NFL frankly didn't give a crap about the integrity of the balls prior to this PR nightmare? What else could it be?
Bottom line: If the NFL takes any punitive action whatsoever, they do so at their own peril as I believe it will eventually blow up in their face. And I do think they're smart enough (just barely) to weigh such an outcome when it comes to their own job security...and ultimately the $44M/year paycheck of the commissioner. himself.

Ha, and not only that, the refs use an electric pump to fill the air. So even if the Pats balls were submitted under and they were inflated, they would have been inflated with hot air. Everyone knows you overinflate with electric pumps.

http://itiswhatitis.weei.com/sports...-certainly-something-that-could-be-a-thought/

So if the refs (or Pats) set them to 12.5 with an electric pump before being measured, of course they would be lower when measured later.

Also haven't seen this posted on here yet, the MMQB article about ball prep

LOL at the one ref who is like "12.5, close enough" haha.

Oh, and btw, if you think the refs do this before every game and not just because Peter King shows up with cameras for a behind the scenes segment, you're crazy.

Ha so sharksofvegas was right this is more because of the refs

disappointed...angry...distraught

NFL is disappointed at their stupidity.

NFL is angry at their stupidity.

NFL is distraught at their stupidity.

So this took a WHOLE WEEK to figure out?! Talk about sabotaging Pat's of feeling good, enjoying whole atmosphere of Superbowl Week with family and friends. This was all for not, could have been avoided. Blandino should have went right to Refs found out about this last week instead of all this BS about Glazer's " Mystery Person bringin footballs in a Secret Room in Pat's Facility".........
An Attendant Takin a Leak in 90 Secs. STOP'da PRESSES!
Can't make this stuff up, CLASSIC!

I would think that the not logging of Psi by officials would be a major reason for goodell to have a fit. If he really wanted to penalize harshly the Pats he would need hard evidence. And even if going to the Wc can be cause for lowering  the psi . At bet he could give a 25000 fine..with a lot of imagination. The Problem though is that he has no baseline. No study of psi as relating to footballs and weather-environment. For a lawyer such as Wells all this makes for a very weak case.
of course Goodell can do as he pleases. And maybe he should be looking into why the colts balls were in the limits. Were they overinflated?
Anyway this could have been such a great 2 weeks for Pats fans. And some scum wanted to ruin it for us. Couldn't even enjoy win over colts Monday morning. :(

I wonder if 12 would be close enough. I wonder if 14 for colts would be close enough ? If teams or anyone were really interested in psi, you would think they would insist on having a representative with refs when they check balls.

What about the refs allowing a boy ball to bring the footballs from the Ref-Locker to the field of play.

Shouldn't they have followed standard NFL procedure?

This pre-Superbowl period felt the most unlike a pre-Superbowl period as I can remember. We should have been partying and enjoying the anticipation of a well-earned Superbowl appearance, but I find myself having to remind myself regularly that we are playing the SB this Sunday.

The Pats had their party interrupted by a full frontal assault seemingly right after the AFCCG ended.

No PSIs were ever recorded for the Colts' balls either.

The ball boys' entire job is to carry the footballs from the ref's locker to the field and up and down both sidelines, handing them out to the refs when called upon. Of course, the refs turn over the balls to the ball boys. That's what the ball boys are there for.... :)

Deflategate was just the latest of firsts for the Pats as they continue breaking barriers. Remember also that it was just last year that the Pats defied convention and precedent and lost a game to the Rats for being the pioneers as the first, and only victims EVER, of the rule about illegal lining up to defend a field goal attempt.

It obviously took more than 90 secs since they weren't ready to start the 2nd half on time. ;)

good points. Hadn't thought about how the ref's would adjust them if they were low.
