Yes, because Mike McCarthy tried to win by running (and running out the clock). He took the ball out of Rodgers' hands and SEA didn't have to worry about the pass. Even with a noticeably hobbled FS and CB. Really, the only drive he let Rodgers do his thing was the last one of regulation when they kicked a FG to tie the game. McCarthy spit the bit in that game.

That was my impression as well. Lack of offensive imagination had as much to do with Lacy being shut down in the second half as anything Seattle did. It really was one of the worst coached games in the history of the league.

John Lynch now.

BTW, just for the record, all of my posts are paraphrases. As good as I can do on the fly and still listen, but they are NOT exact quotes.

LYNCH: What Pete does is a scheme that lets you play zone with with press so you don't give up all the little quick slants and outs.

MILLER: Seattle couldn't get to Rodgers. Can the front four get to Brady?

LYNCH: The two weeks off really helps the Seahawks' D-line. They wore down at the end of the year.

ME: I think their d-line problems are the result of injuries and lack of depth. Looks like a vulnerability to attack.

Didn't the 'Hawks just get two weeks off less than a month ago?

If Brady has time in the pocket and they can run Blount a little bit, the Seahawks are in big trouble.

I don't think Demarius Thomas is headed for the Pats. He knows football, but listening to him, I would say that he isn't even functionally literate. I doubt that he can spell his name.

Disagree on the second point. I watched him with Irvin today. The kid knows football. He has a strong accent and seemed a little shy up there (lack of articulation), but there was no lack of intelligence.

He wouldn't comment on Manning, other than to say that a 38-year-old body might hurt more with the beating they all take...

Wouldn't comment on going back to Denver - dodged it, which I found remarkable.

Said he was blessed to play with Manning and loves the idea of playing with a top quarterback.

Praised Josh McDaniels.

I got the impression he'd love to come to New England. We don't have the money, likely, but it'd be interesting. Not many receivers I'd rather have.

Just as a side note, "Moving the Chains" on SiriusXM NFLN Radio, with Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller is the best football show out there (TV or Radio). These guys are class act, very knowledgeable, always courteous towards their listeners, and I look forward to listening to them everyday as I leave work.

P.S.
They're big Pats homers... which is always a plus :)

Think maybe "admirers" is a better term than "homers.". You're right, it's an outstanding program. Real football talk.

I didn't appreciate Jim and Pat during last season. But then in the off season (when most of the shows on NFL Radio were mediocre) they were really good at keeping the football talk up. Very engaging.

There is no comparison between the 2013 Seahawks DL and the 2014 Seahawks DL. 2013, owing to better depth and fewer injury concerns, was infinitely better. Hopefully that shows up in the Super Bowl.

I like Kirwin's work. I also like Gil Brandt. Guy is just an encyclopedia historian. Talks about football back when the players had to have 2nd jobs and these old colleges where players were selected from that don't even exist anymore. When the racial barrier was broken etc. His stuff is just legendary sometimes and listening to some of his scouting trips and experiences has always fascinated me.

Story time with Gil is pretty amazing stuff. Hes 50 years older than me and his memory is 50 times better.
