People should be DEMANDING the name of Mort's "source". Whoever it was should be drawn and quartered.

This really does throw Mort's source into question.

Can we ban everybody that was calling the Patriots cheaters last week while masquerading as Patriot fans?

NO, the don't have **** and I don't care how they spin it, THE REFERESS DIDN'T DO THEIR JOBS. End of discussion.

How didn't the refs do their jobs? Because they didn't keep a scientific log for the first time in the history of the NFL? I'm not sure what you're trying to say?

They used a gauge to check the ball, just the same way they do all of the time. That has been their story (true or untrue) and they are obviously sticking with that. It was once again confirmed today.

Dean Blandino--"Blandino said he couldn't get into many details with the investigation ongoing. Afterwards, in a side session with a handful of reporters, he said referee Walt Anderson tested the footballs with a gauge himself, which he has done throughout his career."

Well, yes, of course.

But a "he said; she said" scenario doesn't mean the accused is somehow guaranteed to get off. That's not true in real courts and it definitely won't be true of a corrupt goober like Goodell.

Anderson will say that the balls were all in the legal range and Goodell will accept that testimony as true. Still don't see why Anderson not writing down the actual numbers will matter one bit.

So Goodell punishes us unjustly, Patriots appeal, Patriots win. Maybe Goodell will spare us all the ******** and cut to the chase.

Don't be. This is a huge blow to the "prosecution".

The fact that there is a lot of grey area--yes, I agree.

I'm still not understanding the comments here about the "squeeze test" though. That did not seem to occur, and if it did, we'll never hear about it.

This, I agree with 100 percent.

Now...I think there were plenty of moments in today's presser/interviews where the NFL is looking confused, but I don't understand what has changed in the least in terms of the measurement of the balls? The bottom line is that the ref did use a gauge to check the footballs. I don't know what people are talking about with this "squeeze test" nonsense? Obviously, the NFL is going to stick to this story and have since day one.

Without exact PSI measurements, the exact scientific calculations they are asking Columbia to do are meaningless. It's bordering on offensive to tie up world-class physicists with ******** like this, but leave it to the NFL. With that inexactness it becomes all the more likely that a natural deflation is an acceptable answer.

I am slowly coming to the opnion that the nfl and haters will not stop until they get thier pound of flesh guilt or innocences doesnt matter. And iT will be a scar that never goes away. I also believe its likely that refs will intentionally effect games outcome which isnt good for us
I agree about this being a scar that never goes away for the Pats. They hate us so much the truth doesn't matter but if I were the ref's, I'd be angry at the Colts. They were the ones who brought this out into the open and made the refs seem incompetent. It's tarnished Walt Anderson.

Yes, I can see that point.

I'm just speaking on the matter of some claiming that the balls weren't measured with a gauge, as they are sticking with the story that they were.

Is this a calculated move the NFL to indicate that BB's explanation was made up as there was no measurement made and he just jumped to defence without being accused with the actual numbers? I bet this is how the media will spin it.
"Why did Belichick show the drop in 2PSI when in actually there was no recording of PSI?" or some BS like this.

Supafly:

The whole premise is that the Pats balls significantly deflated between pregame inspection and half time, but the Colts balls did not.

Now, the NFL acknowledges that they don't have the PSI measurements for any of the balls, either before the game or at half time.

They have nothing.

Of course, the Three Stooges can still find the Pats "guilty" I suppose. If they are prepared for the response to that from Bob Kraft, Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and Gisele Bundchen.

Note carefully, that they have NOT had made any but the vaguest possible representations about what Walt Anderson found in his informal testing.

Got it - thanks for clarification.

Belichick said that the balls were down 1.5 PSI in the Patriots testing.

Hate to admit it, but I'm with you.

Here is the official comment from Dean Blandino: "Blandino said he couldn't get into many details with the investigation ongoing. Afterwards, in a side session with a handful of reporters, he said referee Walt Anderson tested the footballs with a gauge himself, which he has done throughout his career."

Uh. Remember those of us arguing that the refs did not have records of the psi #s before the game?
Good times!

How didn't the refs do their jobs? Because they didn't keep a scientific log for the first time in the history of the NFL? I'm not sure what you're trying to say?

I'm not sure if they did their jobs or not, but it certainly makes it difficult to prove the weather did not affect the balls, or that the Colts balls did not deflate all, when you don't actually have the before and after number as a comparison. The NFL has asked physicists to determine whether atmospheric conditions could lead to ball deflation... how much ball deflation? Well, that is the question now, isn't it? Was there a gross underinflation (2+PSI) of the Patriots footballs, or was it closer to (1 PSI), which has actually been around the minimum of what most scientists would expect based on the rain and temperature? Did the Colts balls actually stay at their normal levels, or did they merely stay within the acceptable legal standards which gives a 1 PSI +/- ?

Doesn't this pretty much tear Mort's report (2 PSI, then 1 PSI) to shreds, considering that it is virtually impossible to report on the deflation level of 12 undifferentiated balls that were not actually recorded? He has clearly known all along that these were just estimates, "best guesses" from the officials that have wavered pretty significantly during the "reporting" cycle. Isn't that problematic?

All of these things are pretty much murky, speculative issues now. And with scientists asserting that a football SHOULD lose some PSI based on the conditions alone, I think it's a bombshell moment.

See this is where I just slowly walk around in a daze.

They don't have the numbers? Yet there were leaks about drops of 1 or 2 psi? HOW IN THE HELL WOULD YOU KNOW THAT WITHOUT THE NUMBERS.

Yet our HOF coach had to spend hours running experiments, calling press conferences and dealing with the fallout. BEfore the Superbowl.

Every single person involved in this debacle in the league office should be removed immediately. And then flayed, but that's just my own personal fantasy.
I'm confused. Does this mean that you're angry or just really into BDSM?
