The entire management structure of the NFL is a perfect example of the Peter Principle--especially Goodell.

Goodell worked for the Jets.

That should say everything.

... what do you mean the refs are NOT logging the pressure. How the FFFFFF do you know it was 1,2,3,x PSI under if do not know what the starting point ... ARE U FFFFKING KIDDING ME :mad::mad::mad::mad:

If they can't say what the number was pre-game that means any ball Walt Anderson approved is legal as that's what's officially written down by the league. "Sole decision of the referee" is the line used I believe.

OK, did anyone else besides me (and Deus) just have an epic nuclear meltdown?

JUST WHAT THE HELL HAS BEEN GOING ON THESE PAST TEN DAYS. ARE YOU FRIGGIN' KIDDING ME THEY DON'T HAVE THE NUMBERS THE BALLS STARTED AT?????

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????!!!!!!!!
I have to hear this for myself because its beyond belief that the nfl is so incompetent that they would not come out and say this right away. its like one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. these refs never logged the pressure (in fact i bet they just sqeezed them) but goodell announces a big investigation headed by inspector gadget when all along they have nothing to base they're case on.

This press conference just blew the NFL out of the water on the whole Deflategate.

The Pats are getting blamed for the problems of Goodell and it just became obvious to the world today.

Let see how the Mediots play this out because I can see them turning this on the Pats.

So the NFL is down the the rogue ballboy/pee break theory as their last defense. Good luck proving that one.

Aha! This is something interesting........

Jeff Howe @jeffphowe
Blandino said the referee does not log the PSI during the pregame ball check. They're either approved or disapproved.

That's a big piece of information. Not sure the NFL has a leg to stand on now. How can we know the merits of any scientific study if we don't know initial pressure?

I take it they also did not log the PSI in their unprecedented half-time check? That's the next important question.

This bears repeating, for emphasis:

Blandino said the referee does not log the PSI during the pregame ball check. They're either approved or disapproved.

Just because I'm a little slow on the uptake...If the PSI of the balls aren't recorded and the officials either approve or reject them, one they're approved, that's it, right? A team could submit balls inflated to 9 PSI or 15 PSI and if the refs approve them, that's what's acceptable to use in the game. If I'm missing something, please let me know.

Someone needs to contact one of the reporters and have them ask how the NFL controls for pressure loss as a result of a temperature drop.

That's the crux of it, under the section in the rules/game ops manual that mentions PSI/length/width etc of the Footballs it totally invalidates that whole paragraph by adding if the referee says a ball is ok, then it's legal.

The NY Post writer sees "grey areas"....must be the onset of glaucoma.

I will never stop torturing these morons by e-mail until the day I cease breathing. Never.

You are not missing anything. Right now the NFL is trying to figure out how to tell the world that they did not check anything and know nothing - which will be spun into the NFL let the pats cheat or the pats have been cheating for 15 years or some BS.

So they found a way to exonerate the refs . They don't log the psi. And I say, cause many people were saying the NFL would rather throw the refs under the bus. No way !!! They would rather throw the Pats under the bus, any day. If they were to throw the refs then you have a problem league wide, every game. Dump on the Pats, isolated problem, and most of America agrees with them.

So after eleven days of rumours, it comes out that they have nothing. Way to go guys.

So NFL makes this whole thing about a guy hitting the head before coming to the field yet their refs didn't even record the PSI?

Ya have fun trying to penalize the Pats on this one especially with the science that has been proven.
