2015 NFL Mock Drafts

Its snowing so lets put out my first Mock draft:

Rd 1 Pick 32 Cameron Erving G/C Florida St. - He as the size, and versatility top lay anywhere on the OL. He instantly becomes the starter replacing Connolly. He will be the back up OC and LT. Lets not make the same mistake we made last year when we passed on Joel Bitonio for an undersized tweener DT with bad knees...

Complete, 100% agreement here. If the Pats weren't considering Minnesota's offer for their 1st-rounder
(which Seattle took instead), then Bitonio should've been the obvious choice, not the injury flag-festooned
Easley (aka Bill's worst first draft pick since Patrick Chung and worst 1st-rounder since Stomper Meriweather).

Unless Bud Dupree mysteriously drops, or Bill really likes one of the WRs, then I feel that as of now
Cam Erving is the best combination of need & talent at 31/32.

Walter has a new mock out. I know he's usually off. Not crazy about his selections for us. He didn't give us a supplemental pick.

http://walterfootball.com/draft2015.php

1. D. Smith - WR - OSU
2. M. Bennett - DT - OSU
3. DJ Humphries - OL - Florida
4 D. Grant - CB - OSU
4. R. Myers - OL - Tenn St

I think I can tweak this thing to make Mayo and Manx happy. Imagine that?

1. J. Phillips - DT - Oklahoma - Could take Malcolm Brown
2. O. Odighizuwa - DE - UCLA
3. T. Sambrailo - OL - Colorado St
3. Supple - David Johnson - RB - N. Iowa
4. C. Walford - TE - Miami Fla
4. R. Myers - OL - Tenn St

If we stand pat and use our picks. Not sure Sambrailo is can play guard. And, we never stand pat. So, I'll deal the 3 I used on Sambrailo 96 and the Fourth on Myers 131 to move up and snag Laken Tomlinson. He went 80th. I believe we can get there with those picks. Maybe, snag an OL and Smelter in the 6th and 7th. With the picks from Tennessee and TB.

Three OSU players and a Florida one. He thought long and hard about that one. Surprised he didn't plump for a Rutgers prospect too.

I know pretty poor effort by him. Not doing his job:) Bennett's a good prospect. But, we did draft Easley as our 3-tech of the future last year. I think Smith's strength is stretching the field on a deep ball. Isn't that Brady's biggest weakness?? Doesn't seem like a fit to me. I know you like Sammy Coates. So do I. But, the go-route isn't what we do. I'd like to get a receiver like Deion Branch or Randall Cobb to play outside the numbers. Speedy and shifty. Not necessarily a 4.3 burner who can stretch the field. Just one who can beat man coverage. And, do something after the catch. I think that's why he looks at the 3-cone time.

I never like Walters mocks for the pats. It's like he doesn't even try.

In defense of Walter, most of us(Self-included) don't like our draft picks even after the fact. Yet, Belichick continues to be smarter than us. Imagine that;)

Good post.

The second guy you describe is why I'm such a fan of Tre McBride - seems to fit that description pretty darn well. I was thinking about a player comp for Mcbride and I came up with Marvin Jones of the Bengals. Now, Jones is one of my favourite prospects ever and I don't like Mcbride as much as him but I do think they are similar prospects.

As for whether we don't need someone to run the go route, I disagree I'm afraid. Brady's about mid-table in terms of deep attempts but almost bottom in terms of completions. I think that deep route receiver is why Tyms is still on the roster. The deep routes also make play action a really effective weapon. Whether it's worth a WR high for that role is another matter though and worthy of debate.

The problem with Walter is that he doesn't seem to notice that what he suggests they do never matches up with what they actually do.

This site allows you to do a mock draft. Based on their ranking and who GM's of other teams take in their mocks. How did I do?

http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/draft.php?d=nrhotr

1. Kevin White - WR - WVU - Too damn good to pass up.

2. O. Odighizuwa - DE- UCLA - Have to keep Manx happy:)

3. C. Ogbuehi - OL - Texas A & M - Eventually our LG when he's healthy. Back-up LT.

4. M. Davis - RB - S Carolina - NFL ready back IMO.

4. M. Hardison - -DT - Arizona St Need another big body up front.

6. N. Marshall - CB - Auburn - Too much talent to pass on here.

7. B. Bell - TE - Oklahoma - Love me some of the Bell-dozer

It didn't give any supplemental picks. Guessing a-hole Goodell takes one anyway.

They have two sites to use. The first one was Fanspeak. I tried DraftTV for the second one. A little more on the meat and potatoes on the second one. Which one do you like more?

http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/draft.php?d=ewwkrg

1. L. Collins - OL - LSU - Our LG for the next 8-10 years.

2. J. Phillips - NG - Oklahoma - Vince's replacement.

3. M. Davis - RB - S. Carolina - Every down back once he learns our offense.

4. P. Smith - DE - Miss St - Can play LDE on 1st and 2nd down once Ninko retires.

4. C. Walford - TE - Miami - Shades of AHern and Gronk??

5. R. Myers - OL - Tenn St - Maybe our RG in a couple of years.

7. T. McBride - WR - William & Mary - Hearing good reports on him.

I am either, up for or down with the second draft.

I really like both. Draft one is a better developmental mock and draft 2 probably looks better in year one. The only pick in either mock that I question is Mike Davis who impresses me the least of the higher profile RBs.

Don't judge Davis off of this year. He was injured. And, they had a new qb. Lost Connor Shaw. Recipe for a tough season in the SEC. We get excited by these long runs made in college, but honestly. How many runs in the NFL are over 20 yards? Hardly any. Give me the back who can consistently pick up yardage and catch the ball. Keep the chains moving type of guy.

I'm a Big 10 fan. PSU grad. But, do you think it was a coincidence so many Big 10 backs had good years? Coleman, Gordon, Abdullah, Cobb, Langford and Elliott. Not a lot of NFL caliber speed in the back 7's of Big 10 defenses lead to many big plays.

I just don't see what Davis offers that Blount and Gray don't already provide. When I watched Davis I just thought he was a big strong but very linear back. Didn't see a whole lot of wiggle or explosion.

Gotta love those first two picks Tipp. Can we call our bet a month or two ago a draw? You wanted to cut Browner, and I told you that he would play a bigger role than Wilfork in our drive to the Super Bowl? They were both above average. But, neither was dominant.

I want to add two supplemental picks. And, swap the 6 from Tennessee to NYJ for their 5th. Penalty on them for tampering with Revis.

Matt Miller threw a 7 rounder out there this AM. I don't even have the energy to tweak it. He's a great follow on twitter. If you follow him, you realize he loves Pats/BB way of doing things. Jordan Phillips at 32(Fun typing that) makes Mayo happy and Tevin Coleman at 64 should appease Manx.

He has a lot of the players I like going high. Although I can see the Phillips pick, I'm not entirely happy with it in the first. Would rather, in that scenario, trade up for Clemmings who went a few spots ahead. And FWIW, While I agree Wilfork in on a downward path, I thought he looked terrific last night.

VW has given me second thoughts with his play. Would love to bring him back at 5m + incentives.
