eh, i'm not sure if this helps or hurts us. but at the end of the day this whole thing is a joke.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12244290/ex-quarterback-jeff-blake-deflating-footballs-common

"I'm just going to let the cat of the bag, every team does it, every game, it has been since I played," Blake said. "'Cause when you take the balls out of the bag, they are rock hard. And you can't feel the ball as well. It's too hard. Everybody puts the pin in and lets just enough air out of the ball that you can feel it a little better. But it's not the point to where it's flat."

"So I don't know what the big deal is. It's not something that's not been done for 20 years."

Well there we have it. Ban for Belichick and ban for Brady.

watching inside the nfl now and boomer deflates 14psi ball to 10.5psi. and he gives the ball to brandon marshall and he goes 'see? do you feel the difference?'

lol

Yup flawless logic. Since every team does it, the Pats must have done it. Ban them!

i honestly don't even care if we deflated the ball or not. this whole thing is just a joke. talking about something so trivial to death.

oh by the way, i'm in Wyoming right now. hate on pats and brady is real. absolutely real.

This reminds me of something I wrote in another thread (same goes for CameraGate):

The NFL (for the most part) under Goodell uses selective punishment when it comes to teams that impugn the "integrity of the game". And this is purely on the caliber of the franchise.

Maybe so - but if Belichick & Brady got up there and lied about it, I would be both surprised & disappointed. Everybody stole signals too and Belichick got up there and admitted he did it.

The fact that they are denying it and the fact that the science demands the purported drop in pressure to be natural means I am finding it unlikely they had a ball boy put a pin in it. Having felt 12.5 vs 10.5, I don't see the point. I do see why someone would want less than 14 in there, that feels like its going to explode.

Question is how many media outlets picked this up?? Did Mike Florio have this?? How about Pepe King??
Info like this screws up a lot of media agenda at work here.

and remember jeff blake played for 7 teams

jets
bengals
saints
eagles
cards
ravens
bears

it's a pretty big deal if you ask me.

i wouldn't. if brady lied then he lied because he couldn't jeopardize not playing in the SB. i totally understand that.

The stupidity of the average American? ALSO very real....unfortunately.

Yup. Saw that. Was so stupid to try that especialyl when the correct numbers are not even known

SB is meaningless if he's branded a liar for life.

No way.

No effing way.

If Brady and Bellichick got up there and bald-faced lied, their legacy is severely damaged, adn the Patriots' fan base will not recover. This wasn't an immediate reaction thing, either. Their press conferences were thought-out.

There's no way they're lying, in my opinion. If I'm wrong, I'm done with the Pats, adn I suspect a lot of other people are, too.

And if they did lie, they cast a dark, dark shadow over the last 15 years.

they should have lied about it if they did it. they are being used as a scape goat by the league. goodell and the league are going to stick it to the pats no matter what the evidence is. they will find a way.

I am beginning to think that Rodgers likes it a little over because in frigid Green Bay the ball ends up quite under-inflated at times.

I agree. Lying is just stupid. It would make me seriously re-consider the way I think of the guys involved if they made the same ridiculous mistake that so many morons have before them. I would be shocked, to say the least.

Blake's last year was 2005 when the NFL supplied the balls and I have no idea what the procedure was in terms of hand-off to the teams. It wasn't until 2006 when the rule changed to allow teams to use their own balls and have the officials inspect them.

So you really can't take Blakes words and apply them to the current issue unless you choose to ignore the fact that the method of ball supply was completely changed.

And I can't possibly imagine the press ignoring facts.

Keep in mind, Blake's career ended in 2005, the year before the rules were changed to allow QBs to have balls broken in. Prior to that, they had to deflate balls just to get them down to the 12.5-13psi range, I would bet.

That said, it was still AGAINST THE RULES and violated the INTEGRITY OF THE GAME, I guess.
