If the idea is bring a top tier receiver than we should target Vincent Jackson. It makes more sense than Andre Johnson or Fitz. The problem is that Tampa probably won't trade with us for a while to not look like fools again, they must have a BB picture in the wall with darts all over.

I insist we should go Jerry Jones (believe it or not) and keep improving the line, it's fundamental for Brady last year's to have a solid line protecting him. We already hit 2/3 in this last draft on day 3, that's already a great start.

Cut Amendola and you have to replace him, as a kick returner, as depth behind Edelman in the slot, and as a 3rd WR. $2.1M in cap space doesn't buy a lot in today's WR market, and there aren't a lot of good targets out there. It certainly won't make a dent in anyone's Larry Fitzgerald/Andre Johnson fantasy scenarios.

The best case scenario that I can think of involves Amendola taking a cut to lower his cap hit and using that money, but I'm not sure there will be a ton of room to afford a WR.

The lines are becoming pretty blurred between TEs and WRs these days. I maintain that a TE that never, or rarely, blocks inline is not a TE but a (very) tall slot receiver. Tim Wright is barely a TE to be frank. In fact of TEs that have run over a 100 routes this season, Tim Wright has the highest percentage of snaps taken in the slot.

And please don't take my comparison too closely - I was having some fun with some coincidences I spotted.

To be fair, he was comparing the athleticism, not necessarily the skill set and whilst Watkins had a good combine, it wasn't spectacular. I still really like McBride though, especially his body control. Add that to Watkins' athleticism and you have a genuine prospect. Know the only question is is whether he has the smarts for our offence.

Edit: Brief scouting report on McBride from small school specialists NFL Draft Diamonds. Ignore the reference to him as a junior, this was from last year.

I may be in the minority, but I am not a big fan of this wr class. When I was looking at guys we might have a chance to grab I didn't see many that I could say without a doubt could push Amendola, Dobson, Tyms, or even Boyce off of the roster.

The only guy I am truly a fan of and can envision in this offense is Jaelen Strong. And I am intrigued by Phillip Dorsett who seems very similar to T.Y. Hilton.
