Given Ron Borges extreme hatred of the Patriots there is no way he should be representing this region in the voting. That being the case what is the process for removal?

Of the players who are currently eligible or will be shortly who have a shot he actually had a good relationship with Seymour and Law. I'm not sure about Rodney who IMO should get in before John Lynch but won't. Although I don't like him I do believe he would go to bat for them on this if for no other reason so that he could say look at all the talent BB had. He wasn't really as good as everybody made him out to be.

Borges's suggestion yesterday that deflategate might prevent Brady's Hall of Fame bid was irresponsible, unprofessional and downright nasty. I consider that an abuse of his position as Hall voter.

Not really sure but I think he has to die. Just a thought...
I think this is actually correct. He either has to resign his spot or die. Since he'll never do the first, I guess we have to hope for the second. I cannot believe though, that he would actually vote against Bellichick. He'd look stupid and petty...oh wait...

I missed that he said that. He's a troll.

It was on CSN with Tanguay. I almost fell out of my chair. He also said the Patriots were using "flat" balls. All with a straight face.

Tunescribe is right, Borges has abused his position and should be removed as a HOF voter. The question remains as to how to accomplish this?

I think its entirely reasonable to ask that a writer be removed from this position when they have demonstrated the kind of bias Borges has.

>>Charged with the vital task of continuing to be sure that new enshrinees are the finest the game has produced is the Pro Football Hall of Fame's 46-person Selection Committee.

With the exception of the PFWA representative who is appointed for a two-year term, all appointments are of the open-end variety and can be terminated only by retirement or resignation, as long as the member continues to attend meetings regularly.<<

We would have to check the PFWA Hall of Fame selection committee bylaws for any provisions for ouster. Problem is, Borges is pretty well entrenched. Because he is hated by most Pats fans probably wouldn't qualify as a good reason even if we presented thousands of signatures on a petition. He needs to either die (most evil folks live long lives) or get fired from the Herald. Hopefully he gets hit by a bus or is caught plagiarizing again.

surely we can start some elaborate investigation into his life and claim that he murdered someone, and then say "well, we can't prove that he DIDN'T murder this person, so despite a lack of evidence hes guilty." then send him to prison.

Or maybe we can just catch him looking at kiddie porn. He looks like the type of person that i envision when i think of a pedophile.

He was probably covering a college Frisbee tournament and confused it with a football game.
In any event, he probably thinks the ball was "deflated" by taking some of the feathers out.

Borges has made a name for himself by being a local guy who regularly criticizes the Pats. I would find it hard to believe that he would block a Pat from the HOF, since I believe that his complaints are at least in part an act. I think a lot of teams have a Borges, since that type of contrarian approach generates a lot of fan interest, whether we like it or not.

Another unfortunate aspect is that some of the 46 current selection committee members are affiliated with radio and/or television stations or web sites like PFT. So if Borges lost his Herald job he'd just continue with CSN as his media outlet. Looks like we're screwed 'til he croaks. I don't know how old he is but I think he's in his early sixties.

Borges's Wikipedia page is a hoot. He seems to thrive on negativity. Loved this bit:

>>Plagiarism allegations
On March 4, 2007, Borges was caught in plagiarism allegations after an online reader on ESPN.com's New England Patriots message board revealed that there were extensive similarities between a March 4 article by Borges in the Boston Globe and a February 25 article written by sportswriter Mike Sando of the Tacoma News Tribune. On March 5, Borges was suspended for plagiarism by the Globe, without pay, and barred from broadcast appearances for two months.<<

I can't bring myself to read his Herald tripe and fact-check for plagiarism, but maybe someone else here can make a fun hobby of it. ;)

Another interesting read us this Boston Magazine piece about Borges from 2006. It's a bit too kind to him but helps illustrate why he was so hated then and now, nine years later:

Amusing considering how he trashed Seymour as a draft pick.

For someone who committed arguably the worst crime a journalist could commit, Ron Borges shouldn't be commenting on Brady's legacy.

Yeah, how did that plagiarism charge go away? It's never (except on this board) mentioned anymore.
