The Super Bowl snack thread

I'm thinking buffalo chicken dip with chicken wings probably a mixture of hot and bbq. Then probably have some pizza need to keep it simple when the patriots are in it.

Living in AZ, most of the people invited to my house are not Pats fans, football fans but not Pats fans except for one. They like to eat so besides the usual football junk food, I'm gonna feed them some home made Lobster rolls, clam chowder (real clam chowder creamy and not a tomato in sight!) and to keep the seafood theme going, a paella at half time and skewered steak tips for the 4th quarter snack. And beer...lots of Sammy.

I am going with the deep fried wings with my homemade sauce and homemade buttermilk ranch, I have to start early because I will not eat during the game. I will use the same cooler I took to the AFC Championship game and I have beer left from the tailgate party that I will drink with the same Pats Coozie......it worked two weeks ago, its gotta work again!

Nice ... something for everyone. Were the smelts a special request?

More of a bonus, really. When I was getting the shrimp, I noticed they'd gotten smelts in that day. Since my family likes them, I just added them to the menu.

Anyone going with halapeno poppers?

I haven't picked out exactly what I'm making yet. But we eat pretty healthy in this house so I imagine no one here really wants to know anyway. However, we are an Ommegang house so we will be having Ommegang (either the Cooperstown Ale or Gnomegang Blonde Ale). We've even been to the brewery, which was gorgeous and great fun. If you like baseball at all, the hall of fame and the Ommegang brewery are very close (Cooperstown, NY) to each other which makes a good trip.
That Cooperstown Ale is great! I've tried it at various restaurants and love it every time.

One thing: I mentioned beer early. But now I remember: When the Patriots are in a Super Bowl, I actually tend to go mostly for water. I have beer most game days, but somehow I just like to stay a little clearer for such special occasions. Anyone else go this route?

Bloody Marys
rack of lamb meat pops with garlic and rosemary
Steak bomb on homemade pretzel rolls
Chips with an asadero/chorizo/roasted Anaheim cheese sauce
Crab stuffed mushrooms
Creamed spinach
Beer glazed bacon

Got 5 gal each of a homemade Pilsner urquell and dunkelweizen

Real absinthe to initiate sudden mood swings
Damn, I want to party with this guy.

I've thought about this some more and I think I might have to make some "Best Friend Smoothies" for the game. It won't go well with beer but I'm doing it anyway.

Cheers, Edelman and "sugar" Shane!

(And Ryan Allen)

I'm going with pastrami sandwiches on butter-loaded grilled white bread, swiss cheese, and topped with russian dressing (so freaking good.)

Also going to make a huge epic nacho platter.

I wanted to go to Norton (Mass) to Wendell's to get a bunch of the best buffalo wings you have ever had in your life (I drive an hour each way to load up on these usually. That's how good they are). Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have time to fit it into my schedule tomorrow and they get so back-loaded with orders, I hear there's no way you can get any on a days notice.

If you haven't had them, you should give them a call and try. You will not find a more uniquely amazing buffalo wing anywhere, and that includes Buffalo New York (Don't get boneless. Boneless are not what they're known for and aren't that great.)

Oh, and for beer i'm going with some Warsteiner.

Normally I don't drink alcohol at all during the game, maybe one beer towards the end of the game. I'm a water guy during the game also.

If folks come over or my kids want to drink I have a standing no drunks policy. We did parties during the two last SB's and it was too much, I felt like I missed most of the game, and we had some Giants fans which was ok but it won't happen again this time, no Seattle fans.

My Caserta's pizzas arrived safely from Rhode Island, that's what's important.

Apps:
Orange Glazed Meatballs
Honey Garlic Lil Smokies
Caeser Salad

Ordered a couple pizzas from a local joint to be picked up right before kick off
My roommates (SEA fans) are making a smoked salmon dip, and a salmon fettuccine.

12 Bud Light longnecks under snow in my usual aluminum tub with "Go Patriots" painted on the side.

I've decided to go Japanese.

Sashimi
Some rolls
Tempura
Nabeyaki udon
Wasabi pistachio
Shrimp crackers
Roasted seaweed
Pocky
Green tea kitkat
Macha

a few chilled 1.5 year old Rochefort 10's.

Ah, nice! Wasn't sure what I'd want today, so I picked up a 'La Chouffe', a Delirium Nocturne, a Dupont Saison (dark bottle, so shouldn't trend skunky), Sam'l Smith's Oatmeal stout, a big Innis & Gunn, and to round things out with some cheap basics: a pack each of Bitburger and Zywiec.
