Zolak - Patriots think the league has NOTHING

Dominating the front page -- even on a tabloid, that's ridiculous.

This is the essense of the problem. If the NFL wanted a graceful way out of this, they should announce that they have a rule which inadequately addresses the real-world situation, that they thank the Colts for bringing it to their attention, that they are sorry the Patriots had to be disrupted during their Super Bowl preparation while this was studied, that the Super Bowl balls will be checked immediately before game time and at half time, and that the rule will be addressed in the off season to clarify its obvious conflict with Mother Nature.

Oh...sorry...I was just daydreaming. Did I say that out loud?

It will never happen. It's way too sensible.

Meanwhile, has anybody noticed that this all due to the NFL having a leak about a ballboy taking a leak?

has anyone confirmed whether he's a patriot or nfl employee btw?

Why hasn't the ball attendant been outed already?

Should be all over Facebook.

We've seen the kid's face on the sidelines.

All his friends know who he is.

Was it a ballboy? Sounds like it was someone else. He had both sets of balls. Ball boys take care of one side of the field at a time.

The Daily News one is a joke. I watched the video. They never showed the before or after PSI nor did they even say how much the PSI dropped.

But I seriously doubt that if the Pats were cheating like this, they would do it this way. What if the attendant deflated the balls too much by accident? Even if he snuck a gauge into the bathroom, he certainly couldn't have snuck in a pump to re-inflate it. In the timeframe he was in there, there would be no way you could even test the pressure with a gauge on each ball and deflate each one.

Sure if you wanted to deflate balls to make the time frame reasonable, you might be able to. But it would certainly risk doing more harm than good. And if he was in the bathroom for another minute, it wouldn't be like he would have raised suspicion.

It is ridiculous to believe he was in the bathroom other than to take a leak, but people want to make this a conspiracy.
He hide the gage and pump behind the toilet tank in the bathroom.

The Colts wanted the balls checked during the game, I have no doubt they inflated theirs to the max.

Is there any video evidence of what went on on the Colts sideline?

The NFL never said. Both sets of balls implies to me someone charged with carrying the balls. in other words, this person was GIVEN the balls by the refs. He didn't TAKE them. That to me means that this was normal procedure and that he had authorization. If the two ballboys on either sideline are working together, it would make sense that one of them might have said, "You go get the balls, I'll carry the towels."

If there really is nothing in the ops manual about the controls around the chain of custody for the game ready footballs then it's a shocking oversight and league heads need to roll.

I don't buy this argument. The balls are going to deflate regardless.

The reason there's no chain of custody is because the NFL can't control mother nature.

The rule itself is unenforceable and can never be enforced.

Unless you have a pressure gauge attached to the footballs at all times, there is no way to guard against the deflation of the ball.

The best way for the NFL to deal with this is to enlarge the PSI range from 10.5 to 14.5, because beyond those levels, there is no added benefit for anyone.

The only tall tale being told is the one being put forth by the Pats haters. That Indy's balls are immune to the Laws of Physics. That the ballboy would have hurried through this exercise (why? Did he have a premonition about this stupid investigation?). That the pressure of the ball makes any difference whatsoever. The Pats out scored the colts 28-0 with balls that had been re-inflated. This is galactically stupid.

If the balls must lose 2 psi due to the cold and rain, why didn't the balls used in the second half lose psi?

The balls did not defy the laws of physics. Take that to the bank.

BUT (and I don't know that the balls lost 2 PSI in the first half, since the reports have been conflicting, and I don't know that the balls were the same PSI after the game as at the half), I do know that the Patriots first series was delayed because the ballboys were on the sideline still inflating the balls.

So, if what you say is true, there's your answer: the second half balls were inflated online.

How is it not a good point? It would seem the ones going through hoops to disprove anything are us Pats fans. It is hard to argue that SOMETHING happened to the footballs. Alot of circumstantial evidence pointing to tampering with the footballs. Hate to say it.

It's hard to argue that the laws of nature didn't stop for 3 hours 10 days ago.

hahahaha. ive been saying this the whole time: you probably couldnt find the 12 pin holes in 45 seconds. then youd have to deflate quickly without destroying the pin, which is very difficult as you all probably know. then place in bag. come on this is funny

i dont care about the lies that keep coming out.

It's hard to argue that the laws of nature didn't stop for 3 hours 10 days ago.

Hard to argue if you are intellectually honest. Unfortunately most of the media, fans of other teams and a good number of NFL officials are not.

If, at the end of the day, I think the League (and certainly Attorney Wells!) knows that, if all it has is a video of an equipment manager going into a bathroom to take a leak for 90 seconds on his way to the field (which is where the bathroom apparently is located), it has no case, no matter how many reporters claim to have been able to enter a bathroom, unpack 12 balls, deflate them all precisely 2 psi, put them back in the bag and leave the room within 90 seconds.

Its because the Dolts balls were within the required range. People are hanging on to that "fact".

You said it better than I have been saying it. I don't get why no one challenges these idiots when they try and disprove science by saying the Colts balls didn't deflate. Can't they see that if any balls were manipulated it was the ones on the Colts sideline?

A nominal fine is just as unacceptable as having Tom Brady apologize to the twit reporter who was trying to get him to.

Who was that really annoying jerk??
