Have you had it before? Normally i reserve it for formal meals but I never eat a proper dinner when watching football. I tried it several years ago and now the only beers I'll drink are Belgian Quads or Strong Dark Ales. It's exceptional with spicy foods imo and goes great with a bacon wrapped filet mignon. If you've had Chimay Blue and liked it, you should love R10. Hopefully soon I'll be able to have a Westy 12 because thats on my bucket list.

I might also add some Cajun Boiled Peanuts to the party.

Westvleteren XII is a bit overrated. I'm not into quads that much to begin with. The sugars are too intense. It's like drinking raisins. A friend likes to age his for 3-5 years. I'd consider doing that.

I'm not as into classic Belgian ales as much I once was, but I used to swear by Rochefort 6, 8 and 10. A good choice indeed!

I've heard and read on reviews that you're either blown away or slightly underwhelmed when it comes to WXII. Since I really love the intense flavors that change with the warming of Belgian beer, its my go to style. I like the sugary, raisin, figs and dark fruit flavors and the yeasty end (some toss the bottom floaties, i add it). I find the sweetness to be incredible with a salt and pepper seasoned steak, or a spicy dish. Gives great contrast.

I'd love to age them longer but i can't resist drinking them lol. The 6 is solid, but i prefer the 8 and 10. I've exhausted my Total Wines offerings in the Belgian category and I always come back to either Rochefort 10, Westmalle Tripel or St. Bernardus Prior 8.

Step your beer game up son! It's the Super Bowl damn it!

I drink what I like. I'm not one of those khaki-wearing, wine-drinking, snobs from Gillette. :)

Normally, I keep a 30-rack of PBR to hand. I was gifted the Batch-19, and I liked it, so I bought another 6-pack for the game.

I only drink "craft beers" when I go out on town, though usually I prefer Guinness and Jamesons, or PBR and Makers Mark, or Corona and Hornitos Blanco. Depends on the mood I'm in.

Valium.

Whiskey.

Amyl nitrate poppers for the halftime show.

So far, we have planned for:

Popcorn
Salsa and chips
Queso and chips
Cheese and crackers
Calamari rings and sauce
Shrimp (Bacon wrapped and ****tail)
Portuguese-style smelts
Garlic sausages
2 or 3 different types of chicken wings (probably from among Buffalo, Maple and garlic-Parmesan)
Mini sandwiches (tuna salad, egg salad, cold cuts)
Pizza
Mini cheesecakes

Adjustments may have to be made based upon additions and cancellations.

Finally a thread I am on board with!!

- Nachos are a must
- Some vegetables cut up, and dip
- Maybe a chili recipe and some biscuits
- Dark Rum
- Chocolate

The trick is a little of each...o_O

I haven't picked out exactly what I'm making yet. But we eat pretty healthy in this house so I imagine no one here really wants to know anyway. However, we are an Ommegang house so we will be having Ommegang (either the Cooperstown Ale or Gnomegang Blonde Ale). We've even been to the brewery, which was gorgeous and great fun. If you like baseball at all, the hall of fame and the Ommegang brewery are very close (Cooperstown, NY) to each other which makes a good trip.

Three Philosophers for me.

Bloody Marys
rack of lamb meat pops with garlic and rosemary
Steak bomb on homemade pretzel rolls
Chips with an asadero/chorizo/roasted Anaheim cheese sauce
Crab stuffed mushrooms
Creamed spinach
Beer glazed bacon

Got 5 gal each of a homemade Pilsner urquell and dunkelweizen

Real absinthe to initiate sudden mood swings

This is the best thread going on the board.

Don't know the menu yet but it will include birthday cake (wife's birthday)
