Lost in all the Kraft (well-deserved love), I read on NFLN's ticker that the Patriots were not ruling out paying Revis the $20 to keep him next year if they couldn't work out an extension. Found this:

Pats haven’t ruled out paying $20M option RT @InsideNFLMedia: Will Darrelle Revis return to the Patriots next year? http://www.nfl.com/videos/super-bowl-live/0ap3000000463565/Will-Revis-return-next-year…

That the Pats would let this slip tells me that the
y think they'll come to an agreement with Revis - otherwise, why would Revis bother negotiating with them before they have to put up or shut up and just take the $20m?

I wonder if they let it slip with Revis's blessing, all of them thinking the Pats fans deserve some good news right now.

The team's #1 priority is to bring back Revis, imo. Then McCourty. We finally have a championship calibre defense we need to keep it as intact as possible.

As a player who was on the Rats for Spygate I'd really like to know his thoughts now that he is on the receiving end of anti-Pats mania.

I've said it many times, there are some things worth more than money. Sign a five year deal in Cleveland, Jax (pick your nightmare) and you cannot, for any price, not spend the next five years in Cleveland during football season.

This is a very important point people forget (but not BB, because he is an economics major).

Think about it. If you signed with a winner, great teammates, owner, fans etc. you could conceivably get more money by renegotiating or in the next contract.

Conversely, if you agree to spend five years in the prime of your career in a hell hole for extra money, no amount of money can buy you the enjoyment and satisfaction of that winning environment and no amount of money can buy back those five years in your prime.

There go the Pats, tampering with their own players. It appears that their cheating ways know no bounds.

I was just thinking the same thing whilst shoveling.

if the pats want to pay him 20 million they can but I would like to see Revis and McCourty signed for a total of 20 million then they have some more cash to sign and re-sign some dept player like Akeem Ayers, Vereen and ridley

SpyGate broke shortly after the first game of his rookie year. He probably had other things on his mind.
