Barstool Sports: Rumors that the Colts' Equipment Manager deflated Intercepted Ball

From their article from their article on Mike Kensil:

I really hope that if the reports are true that the only football that had less pressure than about 11.5 PSI was the intercepted ball that came in at 10.5 PSI that the league investigate the Colts and watch sideline video of their equipment manager to see if the only tampering on the sidelines was from the Colts.

Rob, this article is a piece of crap.

There are much better sources to use than that one.

There are so many inaccuracies in it, I don't know where to begin.

First of all, there is no byline.

Secondly, more credible reporters have written that Kensil left the Jets in 2006 - - BEFORE Spygate hit.

Thirdly, he never was the "President of the NY Jets"

Amateur crap like this only reflects badly on the argument we are trying to make.

Hopefully the Pats took copies of the video they turned over to the league. You know, in case they decide to "lose" them.

I don't think there is any validity to this rumor, but I think if we've learned anything from the past it's that you don't take videos of an opposing team's sidelines and show the league, even if they're legal. Come on People!

Shmessy, that's the point. He was with the league when Spygate hit.

That may be the last thing the league wants to prove, but the Pats, NFLPA and any other of BB and Kraft's allies are likely building a case for it.

I think Kraft will do whatever he think is best for the league and keep his mouth shut. No way would he rock the boat if the league covers this up. Hence the Pats in general will not fight it.

If Kraft was going to meekly accept this, I sincerely doubt he would have allowed BB to curb stomp the league on Saturday. Maybe BB pushed hard to persuade him, but it would appear that Kraft has finally grown a pair.

That was just a preview of the curb-stomping that the team is going to lay on the Hawks on Sunday.

Well, his facts may be wrong, but that doesn't mean there isn't rumors going on in legitimate sources that there might have been foul play between Kensil and the Colts. We will find out. Or not.

I don't think they will ever prove this nor do I think the league would ever want to try to prove this. But if there was ever proof of one team trying to sabotage another team in this way, it would require a punishment of the biggest extreme. The Pats would need to be compensated and people would need to be suspended.

That said, the last thing the league wants to do is prove a league official and a team conspired to get another team in trouble with the league for a bogus allegation of cheating.

Congress and the Senate will become involved. The NFL has an ANTI Trust exception which has been looked ta by congress in December for their ray Rice fiasco. Write your congressmen and Senators.

You should have stopped after your 6th word.

C'mon, you're better than that.

Stuff like that doesn't help the cause, it only fogs it up.

I doubt that. And the public may never know that they swept that aspect under the rug if they do.

These rumors seem like a big ***********. One guy says it, the next guys says he heard it from the first, then a third says he's heard from a few different places so it must be true and next thing you know everyone is saying it so it must have some truth.

If you think the one ball (which we don't even know is true) requires an explanation beyond the preparation and environmental factors then you must think any ball 1psi or so different does. What if the one ball lower (if it is just one) was one the Colts never touched? Between the environment and human error and maybe a few other factors I don't think 1 or 2 psi requires any explanation. Unless I see like 4 or 5 I'm not interest in speculating. Too many variables, and no real advantage in pressure difference.

Heck, the ball could have just been used more during the game, soaked up more rain, it took more hits causing it to go lower. That doesn't require anyone to deflate footballs in from of 80,000 people from either side. Which I still find unlikely.

This thing was started by someone before they even measured the balls at half time, that's not a normal thing. So I don't think somebody likely manipulated it to start an investigation, because the investigation had already begun.

Shoddy reporting doesn't mean there isn't rumors. They may not be. But it two different things from hearing rumors from legitimate sources or not and doing or not doing the right research on a person.

Who knows? Of course, these rumors would support that Twitter guy people who people have been quoting this weekend who said his sources said that the league's investigation has turned toward examining the officials and not the Patriots along with the timing of Curran's article on Kensil possibly be behind the whole thing.

Again, these rumors could be non-existent. This guy on Twitter could be bogus. And it is just a coincidence about Curran's article.

All I did was give the quote because I thought it was interesting especially since I was having the same question when I heard the latest reports that the intercepted ball was more deflated than any of the other balls. Not saying any of it is true.

DeflateGate is deflating. I am sick of it and so is everyone else.

I just want a Patriots victory in the Super Bowl. I don't care if it's by one point or fifty. I don't care how we win. I don't care if we get lucky or the referee makes a bad call or Richard Sherman intercepts a pass or it snows in Arizona. I don't care if Mike Kensil or Jim Irsay get away with these shenanigans. I just want an SB win. The rest of this is all smoke and mirrors/cops and robbers childish ********. Just win.

Florio, Wetzel and Curran have just started writing about Kensil. Believe me, more is coming.

Why are you watering down the good whiskey with bad tap water?

Hell, there wasn't anyone at BARSTOOL itself who wanted to put their name to that awful piece with all its inaccuracies. THAT says everything.

I'm not going to lie...

...

Can you say greatest offseason ever?
well, maybe the "second greatest offseason ever." the "greatest" is still and for the reasonably foreseeable future will remain the 1999/2000 offseason when they drafted Tom Brady.

No. The article said he was with the JETS during Spygate.

And he never was "President of the Jets" either.

Read it.
