Harbaugh/Colts responsible for this nonsense.

Such a shame they won't be punished. They will get away with it while the damage to the Pats has been done.

The media will also get away with this overblown nonsense. There will be no justice for the Patriots.

Many members of the national sports media are now embarrassed and being forced to retract earlier articles. My sense is a large percentage of them will go after the ones that planted this story. Irsay, Harbaugh, Kravitz, and the like will be seen for what they are

BB retaught everyone basic science on Saturday afternoon. Most that listened objectively came away with the belief he was 100% accurate and feeling a little guilty for rushing to judgment

You may be right.

However, it would be wise to recognize the irony that "where there's smoke, there's fire" is what the media has been using to crucify the Patriots.

Works both ways.
Yup. Just hope the NFL's "burden of proof" standard in this is a little more logical than, say, Peter King's (ie that the league feels obliged to prove that the Patriots intentionally altered the balls during the game, not have the Patriots prove that they didn't [though BB pretty much did that yesterday too])

D bag Florio is still claiming it was a sting operation. If it in fact was and the Colts were aware; is it possible they over inflated their balls? I mean we are talking about a team who was caught piping in additional noise into their stadium to gain a competitive advantage. Where are all the speculative reports about this possibility? Again it's because it doesn't fit their agenda or narrative.

He is an idiot but the question that I guess I still have is who/how/what is the genesis for bringing this particular concern (ball not to spec).

Supposedly the Colts brought this to the league's attention after the Nov game. Is that what happened and if so, what made them suspicious about the balls?

Was it the Ravens (who called the Colts) after the Div game- just to needle Brady for the"rule book" comment? If that's the case, that's really bad.

I would very much like the investigation to shift in those directions and the accusers to produce evidence that supports their accusations.

If they have it, fine. If they don't, public apologies are in order by the two teams and the league exonerating the Pats.

Court of public opinion adjourned.

When you win say nothing.
When you lose, say less.

Feels like there is a lesson in there.

If reports are true, Harbaugh is very much involved.

His behavior of lavishing praise on BB is very unusual considering 2 weeks ago Harbuagh stopped short of calling BB a cheat for his formations.

If reports are true the Pats are guilty. I would think that after this past week you would take "reports" with a grain of salt.
And as far as this report goes wasn't it one guy who said something like "my source tells me it may have been the Ravens"?

Evidence pointing to Harbaugh as the instigator of this idiocy - 1. He accused Pats of cheating in the divisional round playoff game in which the Pats mad him and his team look like fools. 2. Brady fires back "learn the rules, we did". 3. Ravens connection to Graham Gano, a kicker who has recently been complaining about footballs deflating in game conditions. 4. Pagano is his buddy. 5. He is a whining excuse making douchebag easily capable of doing all these things. 6. the Volin and Curran articles.

The Ravens supposedly complained about the K balls.

I find that story so hard to believe on several levels. It's just Florio fanning the "patriots are guilty" flames and trying to generate hits. If it were a sting they'd have something by now and not even Roger Goodell is dumb enough to ruin the Super Bowl over a few psi in a football.

I have yet to see one article with even a semblance of a retraction. If they exist please post.

Don't be too sure about Goodell not creating a diversion on the biggest stage. He still has to do something about the Ravens management lying in Ricegate and the Jets tampering in addition to restoring his credibility. Has anyone heard anything in the media about those things recently.

All that would accomplish is (slightly) lowering the mass of the football. The pressure is determined by the number of gas molecules inside the ball, not their weight.

I meant to state, and in fact did state, that the behavior of the ball would be different if helium were pumped in to the required PSI -- not that the PSI would be changed by the substitution of helium.

That said, it was entirely facetious.

Looks like a sane and sober person hacked Irsay's Twitter account:

Seahawks/Pats will be a great Super Bowl. It's a great matchup between defending Champions and a team with championship lineage.

Edit. Nope, never mind

We are confident the NFL and Commissioner will address the concerns that arouse from our Champ Game. The integrity of the game is critical.

We are confident the NFL and Commissioner will address the concerns that arouse from our Champ Game, and I'm not just talking about my team's complete inability to make the game even slightly competitive in the fourth quarter. The integrity of the game is critical, so we need to let alcoholic pill poppers, who can buy their way out of almost anything, run the show.

Fixed that for you, Jim...

Agreed,

The Genesis of this thing was NOT that the balls were 1 or 2psi below the locker room measurement at halftime. The Genesis is the event that lead them to start measuring balls at halftime.

I've yet to hear that reason (other than rumors), and like you I think they better have a pretty good reason. It doesn't appear they have any data that allows them to know what the halftime measurements in those temperatures should be, let alone draw conclusions from those measurements. So why decide to even try? I would expect a damn good reason. You don't start an investigation for no reason, and it started before the balls were even measured.

If you start getting investigated for murder, and the police go on national TV and announce they're investigating you for murder and then it turns out not only did you not do it, but there wasn't even a murder... Well, I think an apology is in order.
