(Merged x3) It's All Happening!!! PFT Now Blames The NFL For Tarnishing The PATS Image

Peter King even has this now. Burn the house down.

No.

He's clearly saying that running a sting is morally and ethically corrupt.

He said Tags would have put out a memo/warning BEFORE playing a game of gotcha.

Uncle, it's very clear in Florio's column. Could not have been clearer. This is a CONDEMNATION.
"As noted on Friday, some believe that former Commissioners (such as Paul Tagliabue) would have addressed complaints coming from teams like the Colts regarding underinflated footballs not by trying to lay a trap for the Patriots, but by letting the Patriots know that the league office is paying attention to the situation, and that if there’s any funny business happening it needs to stop, now."...

"The NFL never should have let this specific situation get to that point. Even if the league deemed it proper to lay a trap, they should have realized the challenges of actually making a trap work. In this case, it appears that they didn’t."

Here's how I see those quotes above, you can disagree but I think a not small amount of people would see it the same way also-

He's condemning the league, but partly because their trap wasn't good. Or because they should have realized it logistically wouldn't work. Condemning them because they should have realized their plan wouldn't work is not the same as condemning them because they created a scandal where none exists.

He thinks the Commish calling the team and telling them to quit cheating is a good plan, or better plan.

I think there wasn't even enough evidence to warrant a call to the Patriots over any other team. Or if there was enough evidence, I haven't seen it.

He thinks a sting is only a bad idea because they can't pull it off and should have realized that.

I think any sting that singles the team out over any other team is ridiculous, and evidence of a witch hunt to begin with.

Maybe it's petty, but those distinctions are meaningful to me.

My opinion - the one team Florio is biased against even more than the Patriots is the Ravens. It's the Steeler fan in him that he can't contain. You'll also note how he came to the Pats' defense against Harbaugh's formation complaints. Once Curren went public with his story accusing the Ravens of being involved (using separate sources than Glaser's), Florio's views started to change. If taking down a few other teams (Jets, Colts) is enough to discredit the Ravens, he'll do it.

I've re-thought this. With the "coincidental" timing, it's really becoming clear that the league office retaliated against the Pats for filing a tampering charge. A charge whose severe draft pick penalties would be anathema to the Jets. Yet the league office is infested with Jetbots.

The timing remains--like everything else the league is doing-- murky. Increasingly it is looking like the hunt began before the AFC Championship.
Multiple sources have indicated that Kensil is the driving force behind the investigation and that his interest in deflated balls did not begin in January but actually began earlier in the year.

Regardless, reporters like Florio who have now displayed a modicum of susceptibility to reason will find themselves leading the lemmings to the appropriate villain.

But I would also note my disappointment in Kraft for being so politically correct that he he remained loyal to this jackass even at the expense of his own franchise (and its fans), which has been indelibly and unjustly tarnished.

I can't believe what I'm reading. This is a Sport, a freakin sport that kids play...we got set ups, lies, collaborations to discredit one team. Unbelievable. The NFL has a problem. They better fix it.

Florio is the one guy who's site I will still go to. I view it as more of a "know what your enemy is thinking" type of thing. And the PFT comment section provides me hours of comic relief.

****And btw, if the D'Qwell Jackson ball (10.5) is the outlier ball from the other 10 (all 11.5), then.......

What is different from the D'Qwell Jackson interception ball???????????

tick - tock - tick - tock......

Oh yeah........that's the only one that the Indianapolis Colts had CUSTODY OF ON THEIR SIDELINES!!!!!!!!!

Shouldn't there be some sort of investigation into what they may have done with it in the moments they had it?

Anyone smell rotting fish?

.

if dqwells ball is the one outlier that would be funniest thing of all time

if dqwells ball is the one outlier that would be funniest thing of all time

Florio said as much.

It IS the one outlier!!!!!

Think of that for a moment and let it sink in.........

The ONE football that the Colts came in contact with was at 10.5 when subsequently measured by the officials AFTER BEING IN CUSTODY OF THE COLTS' SIDELINE.

All 10 others were at 11.5.

Good.

The only person that I don't care at all for and can go F*CK himself for all I care is Peter King. In fact, he can go ball wash forehead, as he loves to do. Pathetic and zero integrity with that douche bag.

The Patriots willingly handed the tapes over to the NFL - in another thread I speculated it was because they had footage of Walt Anderson doing the squeeze test, not a gauge test pre-game.

Now I'm thinking the All-22 shows the Colts sideline doing something "interesting" post interception. Remember D'Qwell Jackson said once the equipment guy took it, he never saw the ball again.

the actual weight differential of balls inflated with a 2 psi difference is that of a dollar bill. The preposterous, ridiculous underpinning of this grossly moronic witch hunt is there for all to see with their own two eyes. Hatred should be definitely be considered as a symptom of eye disease going forward from this day...

What I am keeping my fingers crossed for, even burning some extra candles for, is that this blows up so badly in the NFL's face, that Goodell is forced to resign, and the NFL will be leery of bothering the Patriots over ANYTHING while Belichick and Kraft are there.
