Not a huge fan of PFT but this tweet was interesting...this issue has been nagging at me a bit.

""""If you don't like #DeflateGate, you should thank the NFL for not warning the Patriots privately but instead trying to catch them red-handed.""""

Florio is backpedaling so fast he should try and get on Undrafted next year.

Oh, and I won't link to it, but he has an article up titled: Bill Nye doesn't think Pats explanation makes sense. When you click on it, it is a small paragraph about Bill Nye (I didn't bother to click and read that) and then 4 paragraphs on that school in Pittsburgh that proved Bill's explanation. I don't even think Florio knows what side of this he's on now.

That is exactly what happened.

All that Bob does for the league and this is the thanks he gets.

Bob: Michael Corleone
Goodell: Fredo

FFS, if Bill Nye wants to go conduct the experiment, then let him do it! As long as he says each and every thing he did, it should be easy enough to replicate.

This is science, not opinion! FFS!!!

I can't believe Florio is sticking to that sting theory despite it making absolutely no sense

The NFL is, once again, bungling this whole issue but the real person to thank is Kravitz.

Yep, it's gonna be my guys against your guys, but in the end what is going to turn up is nothing truly detrimental to the Patriots. Why? Because they didn't do anything wrong in the first place, imho. I believe Belichick and Brady. No one is cheating here.....

PFT just hired their own firm to conduct an independent test.

Not sure why people are bringing up Bill Nye. Guy is a bandwagon Seahawks honk and is a friggin mechanical engineer.Matt Patricia and Cam Fleming have more knowledge in this field than Bill Nye

Because people made their minds up the second the story broke and him being the "science guy" helps them validate their opinion. They don't care about the several independent studies that show Nye is wrong, they aren't famous entertainers that they know.

Really we're about 5 years from "Ow, my balls" being the "number 1 new comedy" on CBS.

Bill Nye, who spent much of his professional life in Seattle, is a diehard Seahawks fan. The bit was a gag, taken out of context.

Also, if you read closer, the paragraphs that follow reference an experiment (conducted with some rigor, I might add) that completely OBLITERATE Nye's claim. Somehow, however, that part doesn't find its way into the headline...

That might be enough to impugn his credibility here, but the mechanical engineering thing ain't.

People stop looking for reason from the mediots. They will report what they want to report and believe what they want to believe. They made their minds up a long time ago.

Billy Nye misinterpreted what Belichick said or is actually a really bad Scientist.

In the video, Nye says the following: "I don't THINK you can change the pressure by rubbing the ball"

He also uses Balloons and closes with "Go Seahawks" and a laugh so he's also not taking it seriously.

Nye also didnt explain why Belichick "doesn't make sense". Only said he didn't and didn't think rubbing balls could change pressure. It was a very banal segment. Florio only used that headline because he knows people are overreactionary and wont read the article nor click on the link to watch the video of Nye. If Bill Nye the Science Guy says it it must be true even thought he didn't really say anything nor show how it was wrong.

That was the last straw for me. I no longer read PFT now.

Surprising that they should use Bill Nye to discredit what BB said, forgetting that Nye is NOT a bona fide scientist but an entertainer.

Bill Nye is a TV personality with some basic scientific knowledge. He is an idiot if he does not think something like this can be tested experimentally.

If Bill Nye was not taking seriously and ended up with Go Seahawks, then Florio needs to be embarrassed that his misinterpreted the segment. He won't be, but he needs to be.

In fairness, BB is still not an expert on all this, and it was a little hard to follow. The main point being, balls can easily fall 1.5 PSI in those conditions, and the Patriots studied it and reproduced those conditions. The fact about the scrubbing and PSI was just extra, but BB lead off with it, and didn't need to. it was more like a surprise scrubbing thing they discovered in the test. Although there is a benefit to saying it in that it shows the Patriots were thorough I testing the PSI all through the process.

The Patriots are a little heated right now and they are not preparing their public statements for max impact as they normally would in something so important. While this is dangerous, it's also presenting to me a kind of raw, from the gut, unvarnished address of the whole debacle.
