Quick rehashing of spygate please?

He was muzzled by Kraft to protect his buddy Goodell who overstepped his bounds.

Was going to, basically, say the same thing.
I think it likely that "Spygate" got taken out of the HC's hands and became an Exec decision thing. Ultimately, as you stated, I believe BK played the good corporate soldier and rolled over (Kraft got his way up the NFL exec food chain by playing the good soldier?).

I believe BK is a good owner, however, hearing BB's comment on "Spygate" reopens the wound of BK throwing BB and to lesser extents TB, Bruschi, McGinest, Brown and a whole lot of heart and soul Patriots under the bus. These guys heard their exceptional efforts get put in a negative light ad nauseum. However, as of now, BK likely ok'd the gist of the Spygate comments today. Hard to believe the Patriots didn't know BB would get a "Spygate" question. Hard to believe they wouldn't have prepared for it. Hard to believe BK or JK wouldn't be personally involved with the PR side of this circus. The approval and directive to speak up is only 7+ years late (assuming I am right and BK/JK were involved).

They wrote a book on it, it's called The Crucible.

Define Spygate?

Spygate
colloquialism
An amalgamation of yellow journalism, dishonesty, outrage without foundation, opportunism, corporate elitism and the state of envy, anger, confirmational bias.

I always tell my wife. I cannot wait for Belichick to write a tell all book after he retires. It will be one interesting read with all the drama (spygate, hernandez, this deflategate crap, etc)

Agree with everything you said except this. I think BB's comments on that today were off the cuff, it looked that way to me anyway. My guess is he's had enough of that and doesn't give a crap what Kraft thinks about what he said.

It was the first of many f*** ups from Godell

1) his wife working for Fox News leaked one of the tapes
2)Then he destroys any remaining tapes which caused suspicion.
3)He lets coaches and players insinuate cheating w/o any evidence.

Worst commissioner EVA!

Ambrose Bierce says hi!

Eric Mangini auditioned for the part of Fredo in Godfather II.

I don't get it. If the filming was legal prior to 2007, then why are people saying the 3 sb wins should be tainted? They won when all of this was still legal.

BB had a guy not secretly taping games. He would tape the defensive signals, then scoreboard presumably to sync them later. Back before in helmet comms obviously. Teams knew other teams try to steal signals so they could use several signals but only one was real. Or wrist bands, rendering it essentially useless. Regardless, they may have got a few signals deciphered for a later date. Or maybe they just wanted to make the team go through the effort of concealing and didn't check the tapes. Who knows.

In the 2006 off season Goody put out a memo that filming rules would be enforced. Alluding to filming signals. However filming signals was not against the rules. The only rules on filming we're where the camera could be, and even those didn't really make sense because teams filmed in places that didn't fit the rule and nobody ever cared. Also, Goodell cannot make rules, they must be made by the competition committee. So BB followed the same rule that always existed. The rule on not just filming but all electronics, was and is you cannot use them gameday for purity sake. Meaning you can make tapes, but not break them down, watch them, etc. You also can't text, or call and many other rules except using NFL stuff. He assumed that not breaking either the letter or spirit of the rule meant he was fine. He misjudged herr Goodell and Mangini.

So at the first game of the season BB had his film guy- not secretive, wearing Pats blue with a giant camera doing the usual and Mangini went to the NFL who promptly applied their incompetence to make if into the Lindburgh baby scandal.

We still have teams cameras on the sideline, but now it's apparently okay if they wear a green vest or something. Selective outrage
It's not every day someone references the Lindbergh baby!

Because people hate BB and the Patriots and have simply decided they cheated. It's also another stupid arcane NFL rule that's too complicated for the average fan to understand and viola, you have "spy-gate."
