The Official Belichick Post Press Conference Thread

Ah, so that's what he said! I was trying to make it out.

God, I love BB.

... calling Brady a liar.

Only 2 Sirius NFL commentators come out on top, as far as I'm concerned: Kirwin and Miller. As soon as the Brady presser was done on Thursday, Kirwin was like (I have to summarize...): "as soon as that reporter threw the cheater word out, the conference should've ended *right* there... no one should give that much credence to such allegations." I can't say how awesome it was for them to deflect it all, and turn their attention to the Senior Bowl, saying theyhave real football to talk about... making fun of those who claimed DeflateGate was the biggest story of the year ("uh....no it's not"), and making awesome quick hit reactions to players on the Seniorbowl field: "Great hands!" and "he needs to improve his stair-stepping there..."

Those two put the fabricated "controversy" into perspective, and said: we don't know ANYTHING until the investigation is done; and if the Patriots did ~anything~ wrong, then let the punishment fit the crime... with an insinuation that the crime is INCONSEQUENTIAL to the outcome of games.

What gets lost in all this….Patriots do a scientific investigation, come up with real answers. What does NFL say? We conducted 40 interviews!

Hey, NFL, you are an incompetent bunch of bumbling ass MORONS and I hope you all rot in hell.

As has been mentioned a few times before this incident allowed us to see some people clearly as haters. We also got to see some non-haters.

I put Kirwin and Miller, and Adam Schefter in the non-haters category.

Best conference ever what would've made it sweeter is him calling out everyone who called his QB a liar and a cheater. No player should ever be subjected to those accusations especially when there isn't any evidence to back it up. The Patriots organization almost took a hit, but our QB took the most heat and thats just pure ********

I loved the 'Spygate' answer, and I wish it wasn't 7 years too late. If the Patriots had handled 'spygate' that way in 2007, we wouldn't be dealing with deflate-gate in 2014.

  1. Peter King is getting his panties in a wad. "To: The 6 New England states. From: The media. Re: Footballs. The NFL has an investigation going. We are covering it. Have a good day." I just tweeted him back that he might want to check if he is at risk for libel or slander. Tweet to him, he on the run.
To: Peter King's 6 chins. From: The fans. Re: Re: Footballs. We have asses. You can kiss them. Eat **** and die.

The Colts are going to need to explain why their pressure did not drop, and I think if they did this a s a setup that will come out in the investigation. Maybe the league will rule the Colts 1st round pick goes to Pats as compensation that they suffered in their preparation for the Superbowl, if it was done with malicious intent.

Did someone come out and say the Colts psi did not change?

My guess is their balls started out around 13.5 psi but the pressure due to weather drop didn't put them under 12.5

Friction. Same reason that race car tires increase pressure after a couple of laps at speed.

I suspect that the equipment guys use one of those electric shoe shine buffers on the leather balls, probably with some kind of cleaner/leather treatment like mink oil or whatever. It's no different than a baseball glove or a pair of hiking boots.

Or a hand held buffer.

Is this because friction raises the temperature? That makes a lot of sense. And I can't think of any other way it could work.

possible he was muzzled by Kraft or Goodell in 2007

No doubt. The fact that they all deflated exactly 2 PSI gives more credence to the idea that pre-game ball preparation and laws of physics lowered the PSI. Ever try to inflate or deflate a ball/tire to your exact psi? now do that for 12 balls inconspicuously; logistically would be impressive.

It's been obvious all along that if there was anything weird, it had to do with air temperature, because that would have a consistent effect, which sideline deflation surreptitious enough to evade detection would not.

The new information in BB's presser is that the temperature weirdness is all about the friction, and that he explicitly denies any kind of more direct temperature manipulation, such as saunas or heaters.
