Is this essentially a road game for New England?

I was wondering what sort of greeting the Pats will get when they are announced and take the field.

A chorus of boos?

That, and the field being pelted with deflated toy footballs.

I live in Scottsdale, and listening to the locals, for the most part, they probably will root for the Patriots, because they hate the Seahawks (its like if the Jets made it to the superbowl, and the game was played in Foxboro, most people would not root for the Jets). With that being said, they are all up in arms with the 'cheating' and 'the integrity of the game' and 'Brady is lying' that many people could be swayed against them because the radio guys are just relentless with their accusations. It is so disheartening, and depressing because in their eyes there is zero doubt that the Patriots cheated 'because they have a history of cheating'.

I just hope that after we win the superbowl, players like Fitzgerald (and maybe Darnell Docket) will come to the Pats to play for the evil empire. That would just irritate these guys forever.

Why would Seattle have the most? This is the home of seattles division opponent. If I was an AZ fab I wouldn't want the Seahawks to win a super bowl in my stadium. May be more for pats then for Seahawks.

We were still liked after our 3rd Superbowl.

What happened was the nation never forgave the Patriots for not finishing 19-0. Hatred soon followed.

I dunno, plenty of Pats fans in AZ.

Maybe NEM will be there to run over haters using his wheelchair.

Yeah, NEM is dangerous. don't discount his effect in a hostile environment. By the way, when did Seattle get close to Arizona? Couple hour drive at least, there.

Plus, it's an excuse to get out of the cold, you've got lot's of retirees, and don't forget the witness protection program [although we already mentioned NEM].

I work in Times Square. Last year Hawks fans easily outnumbered Broncos fans. Easily. Also I've never heard MetLife Stadium so loud. I thought it was impossible. Turns out, you only need a fanbase that really gives a crap.

So yeah... it's gonna be Clink 2.0 in Glendale

that'll only add to the motivation...?

ahh who am i kidding, we love playing at home.
the good thing is, the seahawks are the same way. we'll be fine. the pats play the game, not the fans.

Which fan base is more financially able to make the trip? As @shmessy points out, Seattle is closer, but does it have to be taken into consideration that they were in the super bowl just a year ago? Maybe people arnt kicking the door down to go as badly this year because they just won.

Seattle is an extremely wealthy area of the country.

I doubt a lot of the locals will be filling that stadium up. And as far as rivalries go in the NFC West, at least Seattle fans are quite indifferent about Arizona. Yes its a rivalry but easily the weakest in the division.

I'm glad this one isn't in NJ. The weather essentially made that a home game for Seattle last year. I'd say the dome hurts them a bit.

What dome????

What dome????

I'm guessing they are referring to the one in Arizona where the game will be played on Sunday (?)

"Retractable roof" would be more appropriate, since they have the option to both open and close the roof, but the NFL announced that the roof is rarely opened for events like this.

last yr people thought the NY superbowl would be neutral but was full of seahawk fans. This will be most of them and most neutrals vs NE. This is 100 % road game.

This, and then some.

I still have a difficult time believing that we can overcome this yet again, but we've got to believe.

My concern is that this is just all too much--even though most optimists believe that we'll somehow be more focused.

FWIW.........I Spoke to a very knowledgeable ticket broker from Vegas last Monday. His company's headquarters are in Seattle. He's been doing this for over 25 years and has a very good feel for how things will break.

His take was 60%-70% Pats fans, his reasoning was they shot their wad last year and tend to be big talkers. He noted early requests he was receiving were overwhelmingly for Pats. (again this was before we became convicted without a trial felons, again).

He also noted that for those seeking tickets, GB losing lowered pricing significantly. Will be interesting to see the effect of all this publicity will have on ticket pricing as well. Ima,ready took a position with him and locked in, from what I am hearing elsewhere, I'm glad I did.

I will be talking to him again Monday and will update.

Don't worry about the crowds. Worry about the REF's. I am sure they received their points of emphasis from the League office.

Still a division opponent. Wouldn't underestimate that

My Wisconsin client is salivating for a Pats blowout.

Couple of thoughts:

1. I hope they DO open the roof to let some of that 12th noise to escape
2. While the crowd noise may have some effect on our offense, I'm more concerned with the effect of how Seattle's D FEEDS off of it. They play like animals when it gets loud.

Not even a road game. Like a final boss on maximum difficulty. A great opponent and about 50 million who will be actively rooting for Patriots to basically self-immolate on live TV. This will be the most hostile atmosphere a Super Bowl team has ever faced.
All of which perfectkly sets up the us v. World mentality that is so helpful.

NO SEAHAWK FAN WILL BE THERE BECAUSE YOU NEED TO BUY TICKETS BEFORE 2012

Both teams are pretty hated. Most neutral fans want both teams to lose the Super Bowl.
