Guys, the answer is clear to me; Bill Belichick is a sorcerer with elemental powers.
Nah, he's already gone on record as having nothing to do with it.

I hope you're right, but I think we're making a big assumption that they didn't take the pressure of the footballs. If that's indeed the case and they've been hinting otherwise, they really have no case.

Actually, the case then would be that the NFL officials failed to properly inflate the footballs before the start of the game...

The more I think of it,,,,,No way Irsay informed Gooooodell about this beforehand. He probably thinks like many that he and Kraft are soulmates. I also find it strange that nothing about the leaks was mentioned in the PC . Maybe because there have been none, and all Info is from colts. they were probably witness to halftime measuring, Probably asked ref then if balls were ok before game start and some ref said yes inspected and in range.

Exactly--which is why I'm very hesitant to believe the NFL is going to admit to such a thing. It will never happen.

Source said if the Patriots are guilty of deflating, then they're likely using a "scientific" method. Too risky to deflate on sideline

This is just giving an out to all the haters and big mouths, they can say they didn't catch the Patriots but the evil Belichick is doing it somehow

Talked to a league source today that said if the NFL checks every team, then they'll find "several" teams are guilty of deflating.

Interesting as well.

Again...it just sounds so similar to the last time with the taping of signals.

It sounds good in theory that other people/teams are doing it etc, but the only team the NFL cares about right now is us.

Then, the League will have to provide the inflation numbers for the 36 footballs tested by the referee before the game. They can't have it both ways. They either tested them or they didn't. If they don't have specific PSI numbers from the referee testing, then there is no way to confirm deflation. Without the pre-game PSIs, there is no there there. Mr. Whipple's squeeze test won't cut it.

I knew if I was patient enough the nerd part of my brain would solve a vexing puzzle for me... It's mostly the mouth and brows that sell it.

If there is a punishment of any kind given I'd press hard to make the NFL from now on provide the PSI measurements for all game balls on all game reports. Also check a few of the balls at halftime and all of them again after the game. Obviously outside..

Lets make sure nobody is committing the same heinous crime in the future.. integrity of the game and all.. right?

This week should have been joyous as once again this team fought odds and ascended to the NFL pinnacle of success.. instead it has been a giant "buzzkill" with a large dose of "high anxiety".. initially we were told that this investigation would be over in a couple of days, now it is passed on to forensic teams and high priced law firms... ther has to be something...

Goodell and his office have not learned a thing from the Rice debacle, either by releasing snippets of information select informants in the middle of the night to yesterday's press release...

They release info that 11 of the 12 balls were underinflated by 2 lbs, were the underinflated 2 lbs from 12.5PSI or 13.5 PSI???.. Those details are not important and most will not think and just follow along..

My guess is that they could not find anywrongdoing, to they need to spend more money and time to find something, anything....

Have been saying for a couple of days now do not contact Brunnell, Dungy and the rest of the has beens, have one of the sports show hosts give Mallett, Hoyer or Cassell a call... even ring up Bill O'Brien.. instead this situation is being tried in the court of public opinion.

I am expecting a royal screwing from the refs at the SB. If we are going to win this game we'll have to beat the Seachickens and the Zebras.

You see the writing on the wall too.

The Refs can call holding or PI on virtually every play. NE makes a big play on offense - call holding negating the gain. NE makes a big 3rd down stop on defense - call PI giving Seattle a fresh set of downs.

Makes sense cause apparently teams around the league were pissed off at the Colts for snitchin

Exactly! Only problem is that those very teams will somehow develop selective amnesia and hope the Pats take the fall for everyone. The integrity of the league is about as low as the journalistic integrity of the media covering it.

I'm not claiming that it's our fault. I actually think it was the weather, but I don't understand the "blame the refs theory," since the NFL has already confirmed today that the refs measured the ball pressure prior to the game---which is the entire reason why they are puzzled...hence the issue in the first place.

All you seem to be suggesting is that the balls were underinflated and that makes it the fault of the refs. What kind of sense does that make? They've already confirmed that the refs checked the balls properly prior to the start of the game. I'm not meaning to be argumentative, but I just don't understand your thinking here.
The nfl never said they were measured prior to the game, simply adequately checked. No mention of measuring, no mention of measurements outside of "too low," or within spec.

It's a clever theory that would skirt but not violate the rules but I'm not buying it for the reason Brady gave at his press conference when he said that he wants the balls he chooses to be consistent with what he gets on the field. For some ball boy to do the physics that gauges all of the factors necessary to have the balls only lose the desired pressure for each game and each condition would require Einstein as the ball attendant.
Or a temperature chart.

Since we already established how minuscule the difference between 11.0 and 12.5 is (less than a dollar bill) how would Brady even notice? Change anything about how the balls are prepared in regards to the prep on their outer skin then sure I am with you. An QB would notice. But take out a miniscule amount of weight?

Come on.. we are in placebo effect range here.. Brady believing those balls are the ones he chose is more important than them actually really being those balls. Again, I am only talking about the pressure.

If they want to know if there is a tangiable difference they are asking the wrong person anyway. Somebody like a RB should have a better feeling, since his job is dependent on a tight grip. But I dont want to give the media more ideas..

That would only serve to further taint the image of the NFL even more... do not see that when they are on the biggest stage..
