And now pft takes a moment to acknowledge science AKA backpedals

I would laugh if it is the Patriots playing chess again..

Filled the ball to 13 PSI in a controlled environment at a very warm temperature ie. 100 degrees right before PSI gets checked. Ball gets PSI weighed @ 72 degrees around 12.5 PSI and put into bags... Bring them outside and watch PSI drop through the half.

No rules broken.. No altering done. Letter of the law was followed

this was my theory on Wednesday - http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...ere-we-go-again.1115247/page-145#post-4080872

Look at these fools. They were a bunch of ravenous dogs yesterday. Now they are all backpedaling. You all rushed to judgment without all the facts. They can all suck it. They are not to be trusted.
I love everyone in the comments clinging to the Colts balls didn't change.

Either they filled it outside or they somehow managed to create the first ever football that defies the entire knowledge the human race has on physics.

if it turns out that there was manipulation of the balls then i think it will be something like this

Patriots hatred > Science

We live in a country of idiots. We can argue it because it stings our pride, but it doesn't make it any less true. The media can make the majority think anything it wants to.

Patriot fans FTW.

Patriot haters (even the ones lurking on this forum, pretending to be `fans`) can piss off.

Things appear to be looking up now. Safe to say Tom and Bill are in the clear.

Like Eric Mangini when he realized what he unleashed. He said he never intended for it to turn out the way it did.

They now realize the damage they have done to the greatest HC/QB combination of our generation.....OVER NOTHING!

They see this anti-Pats juggernaut careening out of control and want to have some deniability later.

The question then becomes whether the Patriots have internal surveillance cameras that would show whether someone took a bag of balls and a hand pump into the sauna on Sunday afternoon.

Umm, Mr. Florio. . . . The NFL has already collected videos. Obviously they don't already have that video, which also suggests said video does not exist.

And yet somehow they don't seem to understand how the Patriots respond every time such a juggernaut gets unleashed. . . .

Or they filled it on the higher end of the PSI limit. So even if it deflated, it would still be within legal range.

If this is "it" - although I doubt they'd be able to prove it - if it were admitted to I'd be curious if there would be any punishment. From the rules I've read, it would clearly be within the rules but also clearly trying to get around them.

if it was proven.....i bet they would punish them for violating the spirit of the rule....if not the letter of it......and to cover their own ass to avoid massive embarrassment

This probably is what we've been doing. Still cheating and we'll have to stop, but impossible for the NFL to prove most likely. Either gonna be a 25,000 fine, like Marshawn Lynch got for gold cleats, or nothing at all. Kraft's good relationship with the NFL and other owners may be helpful as well.

They filled them outside with the pump they use for the helmets

Yeah, thinking about it the rule is the PSI of the ball you play with not the PSI at weigh in time. So we would be penalized in some way. However it was probably Ernie Adams doing it (finally figured out his job) and he wouldn't tell on Bill even if he were water boarded.

There will not be a penalty. Nobody is allowed to test or modify the PSI of the ball at game time except the referee. The referee did this once the referee discovered a discrepancy. That is how the procedure is supposed to work. Also, the balls were the correct PSI, so the Patriots did not try to sneak in any balls outside the range.

The same rule also says the referee must report to the league when any discrepancy happens, so it's a normal step for a league to do an investigation (though usually not a public one with tons of media).

The media is making it sound like the investigation is because of credibility issues, not because it's standard procedure.

This is not a "Belichick might have cheated" investigation like the media makes you believe.

If a team takes sleeping pills before the game because they don't care about the opponent, there might be a substance abuse investigation as a normal procedure, but in reality the team was hurting itself. Same thing here, if a team uses footballs at the bottom of the valid pressure range that drop in pressure in the cold to a point that it hurts them in the game. Yes, there will be an investigation, but the team was hurting itself. If the referees touch the balls and think they're fine and no different and refuse to measure them until half-time, but it hurts your game, that's not cheating.

None of this matters now. The entire country thinks the Pats are cheaters. I saw a map today, literally, the entire country outside of NE thinks the Pats cheated. It's baked into the culture. They spied. They taped practices. They practice illegal deception. They look for loopholes. They skirt the rules. They deflate balls.

Good luck getting anyone outside of NE ever to accept any of the Pats wins. This is what you get for acting like a doormat the first time Bob K,
