Who'd they put on the job this guy?

Please, you cannot possibly think congress representing the 31 other teams would revoke fan loved anti-trust because the Cheatriots were not treated "fairly"?

You misunderstood.

If Congress thinks that the NFL is giving a member (Pats) an unfair advantage over it's other members by letting them get away with breaking rules.

Sports Science video still on youtube

So ESPN removed a video that it made showing that the inflation difference has little to no impact on anything. Video was very informative by the way….

@Fred_Kirsch
w/NFL statement, STILL don't know if refs used gauge or butcher's thumb to test balls pregame. Why not be specific and rule out questions?

'cause lawyer speak.

Read what they DIDN'T say and you get the gist of it - Anderson probably just gave it a squeeze and said "yeah they're fine".

Beginners trap: the headline is totally false. The body of the "article" is what the NFL and New England have said - they've got tapes not they have video evidence of stuff happening.
Here we go tape-gate !

Imagine if this was a movie..would anyone believe that this is possible? deflategate ie. yea right..as if they would ever do such a thing. nooooooo

Yep. Just don't see Walt Anderson sitting there putting in a pressure gauge to dozens of balls. He definitely did the feel test which the NFL can't let be known or it's just another round of incompetence in Herr Goodell's NFL.

reading between the lines: we found jack squat. So we will keep digging.

That's how I read it as well. I went from being convinced NE did it to ambivalent due to all the misinformation, but that seems like a pretty definitive statement on the NFL's part.
I feel the opposite. That's about as far from a definitive statement the league could make about pregame inspection. Intentionally vague and equivocating. If they had the psi they would say. And Brady and bb would not have said it was at 12.5 if they knew it had been measured.

I've been staying away from this whole nonsense but just checked in. If I read the NFL's statemet right, nobody really has a clue about anything -- EXCEPT the fact that in the 2nd half, when the Patriots crushed the Colts 28-0, the balls were extra-special-guaranteed perfect.

So we're looking for how the Patriots gained an unfair disadvantage in the first half?

"But it's about intent!"

OK, then prove to me the intent was more than simply comfort, the same intent Rodgers was seeking for his admitted over-inflation. Otherwise, I think the punishment should be pretty much the same.

Translated version of the NFL statement:

On late Sunday night the NFL started a witch hunt. We hired lawyers, forensic experts with an air sniffing dog, and grilled 40 people. So for we have come up with crap. We will continue this witch hunt until we find a witch or until we decide to brand someone a witch and burn them at a stake.

They took it down because the conclusion was too tame. ESPN wants to stir up outrage against the Pats, not admit that the difference in PSI only allows a 1mm difference in grip or the weight difference is less than a dollar bill. Or even the fact that the ball will travel slower underinflated, making it easier for a defender to cover it by about 1 inch. Or how about how they concluded the rain probably had more effect on the football performance than the difference in PSI?

Pressure if the ball dropped to eleven psi from 13.5 after being exposed to ten degree temps for an hour...

In this instance, "inpsected" is studiously vague term. Why no statement from the referee? Appears that the NFL lawyers know that the pressure wasn't measured prior to the game.

They don't have the evidence, but they're pissed at the Patriots, so they're going to let this play out for as long as they can, letting the Brady and Belichik twist in the wind.

I was hoping the wake up to find the NFL investigation is over and they have released the report. Ugh. Now we have at least another day of h*ll.

This changes everything. It looks to me now like someone on the Colts probably deflated our balls in a desperate attempt to hurt our offense. When Tommy threw the pick he immediately knew something was wrong and had the refs check our balls and adjust them accordingly and the 2nd half offense is clear evidence that we were the victims.
Anyway that makes about as much sense as the rest of the nonsense.

No, I think Brady has the equipment guys set the balls at 12.5 PSI. This is never an issue. The refs check and it is OK and they move on. Happens all the time.

In this case, a jack ass owner or coach (whom Brady told to read to rule book) thought he could get even and had them check the balls, which were lower than 12.5. We don't know if they were at 10.5 PSI or 12 PSI or even 2 PSI. The NFL has not stated. A certain amount of pressure loss is expected and should happen. Smart of Brady to actually know this and use this to his advantage (if he knew). Example of how other QBs are dumb as well.

This is not complicated. The math is straightforward and you should be able to replicate the conditions. Take a new ball, inflate to 12.5 PSI at R/T (assume 70) and than bring to a 50 room and check to see what the PSI is (after acclimating the ball to the new temp -1 hour).

Do that for a 12.5 PSI ball and also determine how high you would have to go to make sure your ball did not go below 12.5. That is what Indy must have done to ensure their balls were not below 12.5 PSI.

And yes, I know people have done this and shown that the ball loses 1-2 PSI depending upon the wetness. Again, not rocket science. Too much for todays America and too much for the NFL but really, where is the journalism. These guys should be ashamed.

And someone needs to find out why the Indy balls did not go below 12.5 PSI. That is the real story in all of this.

Under inflated is from a standard while deflated is from a measured point. They used the words under inflated for a reason.

This is my new song. I have used it at work today and will for the foreseeable future.....Anyone who brings the subject up, I say "I heard the Colts actually deflated the Patriots game balls, and when the pick happened, they instantly alerted the officials because they knew the ball was low, they had done it themselves"! It's creating confusion & frustration and I love it. I'm expounding on it. I "heard" it online, and now its the gospel truth. What, you didn't hear it?!! Yes, it looks like the Colts planted the balls! It was all pre-planned! Sabotage!!
