Actual text from 49ers fan friend after trying to explain some of the scientific evidence out there - "If you send me 1 more stream of moronic idiocy I am going to delete your number".

I think I'm happy I can't figure out the psyche of other team's fans.

I swear, if, no... WHEN, the next 'cheating' scandal happens to another team, I will ride those fans' asses to to no end.

My mind is made up-Don't confuse me with facts,

It just doesn't matter to the media if it is another team. It truly does not. The story will blow over. Even Bountygate was nothing compared to that horrible press conference Brady had to do yesterday.

If the press conference is announced an hour before it happens, you know this whole process is rigged.

Brady gets a thousand cameras in his face from embarrassing "journalists" and Goodell will get to hand pick who gets to lob softballs at him.

Sharks of Vegas saying they'd be shocked if presser happened today.

Some examples of cheating in the NFL that got nowhere near the play that "underinflated footballs" has gotten.

Jets - Sal Alosi
Steelers - Tomlin tackle
Panthers - Warming the footballs
Browns - Making opponents visit Cleveland in order to play football

Well there's no NFL rule against that, but I do believe it's in violation of the Geneva Convention.

The Cleveland texting scandal is like, a billion times more important to the 'INTEGRITY OF THE GAME' than getting an extra millimeter grip on a football. But because it's not the most hated team in all of sports doing it we won't hear about it.

The NFL will announce news conference today suggest to me that they will announce when they will be having a new conference.

No real reports of a press conference.

To me it's painfully obvious what happened. brady deliberately gave under-deflated balls for the refs to inspect, which a lot of QBs do - that is, give balls over for inspection that are to their liking. The refs do not abide by the rules by testing each and every ball - brady himself said the pats provided 24 balls last week. The colts would have given another 24 balls. So the total number of footballs to be pressure checked and inspected would have been 48. No ref is going to look at and make sure each and every ball is at 12.5 to 13.5 PSI. They would have done the squeeze test and moved onto more pertinent matters. It's probably an unwritten rule that the refs just allow the QBs to have some leeway on the partuclur prssure they want in their balls. Unfortunately, the colts whined and we got caught - again.

It's nice that the people who disagree with this never post here, but here is a good article that seems to agree with my theory. That is, the refs were negligent in the AFCCG and the NfL is covering up for them.

Reiss : NFL releases statement on investigation into Patriots footballs. Says investigation has included nearly 40 interviews to this point.

Is anyone surprised that the nfl is gonna use Friday afternoon to bury whatever story it is this is.

Good or bad.

Ya well the NFL didn't bury it they just dumped about a tanker of gas on a fire that had started to die down.

I'm thinking the release is what we get and he or his source had it mistaken for a press conf.

They don't have anything and this release dosnt say crap.

"We have not made any judgments on these points and will not do so until we have concluded our investigation and considered all of the relevant evidence."

"As we develop more information and are in a position to reach conclusions, we will share them publicly"

They have nothing other than the balls were under PSI in the 1st half and they don't know why. Yea they pumped them up at the half (no doubt with cold air outside) and these didn't deflate.

NFL Statement

Our office has been conducting an investigation as to whether the footballs used in last Sunday's AFC Championship Game complied with the specifications that are set forth in the playing rules. The investigation began based on information that suggested that the game balls used by the New England Patriots were not properly inflated to levels required by the playing rules, specifically Playing Rule 2, Section 1, which requires that the ball be inflated to between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch. Prior to the game, the game officials inspect the footballs to be used by each team and confirm that this standard is satisfied, which was done before last Sunday's game.

"The investigation is being led jointly by NFL Executive Vice President Jeff Pash and Ted Wells of the law firm of Paul Weiss. Mr. Wells and his firm bring additional expertise and a valuable independent perspective. The investigation began promptly on Sunday night. Over the past several days, nearly 40 interviews have been conducted, including of Patriots personnel, game officials, and third parties with relevant information and expertise. We have obtained and are continuing to obtain additional information, including video and other electronic information and physical evidence. We have retained Renaissance Associates, an investigatory firm with sophisticated forensic expertise to assist in reviewing electronic and video information.

I'm not so sure things like this are deliberate. He chose the ones that he liked and submitted it for inspection. I don't think he has a psi meter with him when he chooses, he just picks em. It's up to the refs to check them and you may be right, perhaps they weren't as judicious as they should have been.

Not true. The release stated that the balls were all (48) tested prior to the game, and that they were all within spec at that time, and that the Patriots backup balls and all of the Colts balls were fine when tested later.
